The Timeless Secret Is Revealed
Anti-Aging Skin Care is Now Revolutionized with the Breakthrough Antioxidant that has been a Chinese Ritual for Centuries – Found in a Teacup
Discovered in China, the legendary Fountain of Youth has been known to restore youth of anyone who drinks its waters. Two thousand years later, the secret is out. This time, the Fountain of Youth can be simply found in a teacup. Basic Essentials, Inc. introduces Timeless Secret, the luxury anti-aging skincare line containing the breakthrough technology antioxidant, Pu-erh 300+complex™, an ingredient more than 2,000 years old. Now that the secret is out, women all across the world can benefit from Pu-erh tea, a most sacred and time honored tea that counters the signs of aging.
The carried past stories of the breakthrough Pu-erh tea are filled with everything from its use as a cure, to currency. Centuries before science could quantify its benefits, Chinese emperors recognized the secret to youth and abundant health in Pu-erh tea. Guarded by the Tang Dynasty, the tea was offered by Kublai Khan to conquered natives, and traded as currency past the Great Wall. For generations, this sacred leaf was traded from grandmother to mother to daughter—right to the founders of Timeless Secret, May and Michelle Wong. Like fine wine, Pu-erh tea increases in potency and flavor over time to detoxify, protect and radically restore healthy skin. In it they saw its greatest value — an unparalleled source of ageless beauty, and created the Pu-erh 300+complex™, which is used exclusively in their Timeless Secret products.
The knowledge of Pu-erh tea was passed down from generations to the founders, mother May and daughter Michelle Wong. Chinese by heritage, raised in Hong Kong, and now residing in Los Angeles, they saw the benefits of this sacred leaf firsthand, then researched its profound benefits. Working with Swiss chemists for four years, they developed these highly efficacious, unusually luxurious products, first sharing the collection with those closest to them. The response was indisputably outstanding. And now, they offer women everywhere options that are streamlined in approach, yet undeniable in results. “I am thrilled to be sharing this breakthrough secret with women everywhere! Pu-erh tea has been a family ritual for generations, promising flawless skin, and it has never failed,” says May Wong, co-founder of Timeless Secret. “With so many naturally occurring and skin-transforming compounds, Timeless Secret will revolutionize the skincare industry.”
“I always knew there was a secret behind flawless skin,” says Michelle Wong, co-founder of Timeless Secret. “Being able to reveal this breakthrough secret that is simply found in a teacup is what makes Timeless Secret so unique. Now the Pu-erh tea can power the skin as much as it does the body.”
Naturally rich in potent antioxidants, Pu-erh tea extract blocks the destruction of environmental pollutants while detoxifying skin of the beauty-ravaging effects of modern lifestyle. Three hundred natural proteins and minerals, including vitamins B5, C and E, occur naturally in Pu-erh tea. This advanced tea is now found in a unique and exclusive compound for skin, called Pu-erh 300+complex™. Studies prove that the ingestion of the Pu-erh tea helps to reduce weight and cholesterol. Inside and out, it reverses the signs of aging and restores the function and beauty of younger skin.
The Timeless Secret line includes: UNVEIL Cleansing Foam with Pu-erh 300+complex™, a unique foaming and detoxifying all-in-one cleanser/toner that palpably reenergizes the skin, preparing it for treatment.

Of Course, Photos Can Be Deceptive
We're the first to be wary implying anything, given what people have said about us and basically what we look like most of the time.
But judge for yourself. Here are two recent photos of Halle Berry.
LOVE THIS
Lindsey Lohan is Called Out!
From People.com
Lindsay Lohan has been chastised for calling in sick to the set of her movie Georgia Rule – by the head of the company producing the film.
In a stern letter that threatens legal action against the star, James G. Robinson, CEO of Morgan Creek Productions, calls Lohan's recent absences from the set "irresponsible and unprofessional."
The letter, dated July 26 and marked for hand delivery and e-mail, was first posted on The Smoking Gun Web site. A rep for Morgan Creek confirmed the letter's authenticity to PEOPLE.
Early Wednesday morning, Lohan was briefly hospitalized for being "overheated and dehydrated," her rep, Leslie Sloane-Zelnick, told TV's The Insider.
Several sources told PEOPLE that Lohan had been at the nightclub Guy's Tuesday night prior to her hospitalization.
Lohan's rep had no comment. A source close to the actress was surprised by the letter, telling PEOPLE, "She hasn't been crazy partying. In fact, I've never seen her so together."
A publicist for Morgan Creek Productions told PEOPLE on Thursday, "Lindsay reported to the set today on time. We're hoping she remains on schedule for the rest of production."
Below is a transcript of the letter.
Dear Lindsay,
Since the commencement of principal photography of Georgia Rule, you have frequently failed to arrive on time to the set. Today, you did not show for work (all day). I am now told you don't plan to work tomorrow because you are "not feeling well." You and your representatives have told us that your various late arrivals and absences from the set have been the result of illness; today we were told it was "heat exhaustion." We are well aware that your ongoing all night heavy partying is the real reason for your so called "exhaustion." We refuse to accept bogus excuses for your behavior.
To date, your actions on Georgia Rule have been discourteous, irresponsible and unprofessional. You have acted like a spoiled child and in so doing have alienated many of your co-workers and endangered the quality of this picture. Moreover, your actions have resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage. We will not tolerate these actions any further.
If you do not honor your production commitments, including your scheduled call time for tomorrow, and any call times thereafter, we will hold you personally accountable. This means that in addition to pursuing full monetary damages, we will take such other action as we deem necessary to preserve the integrity of the Georgia Rule Production as well as Morgan Creek's financial interests. I urge you to take this letter seriously and conduct yourself professionally.
Sincerely,
James G. Robinson
CEO, Morgan Creek Productions

Forget Baywatch, Pamela Anderson fans better get ready for wedding watch.
The erstwhile pinup has announced plans to tie the knot with on-again fiance Kid Rock no fewer than four times, logging vow swaps in France, California, Michigan and
Tennessee.
"I'm going to get married a few times this month to the same guy," Anderson said Wednesday at a press conference for her gaming site, PamelaPoker.com. "We had to do Malibu, we've got to do Detroit, and we've got to do Nashville."
The 39-year-old will kick off the wedding bonanza with Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, this weekend on a yacht in the French Riviera.
"If Bob knew he was getting married five years ago in Saint-Tropez, he wouldn't have believed it," Anderson said, mentioning her fiance by name for the first time since announcing their engagement last week.
[BeansTalk's Favorite Quote of the Month]: The Canadian-born mother of two said she was dealing with the stress of the big day--well, days--the best way she knows how.
"I have two words for you: champagne."
Anderson told People that she would be jetting off to France Thursday to prepare for her weekend wedding.
"It'll be on a boat, on a beach and then we're going to a club," she told the magazine of her big day itinerary. "Then [we're] going to have a West Coast party."
While she seems to have the bigger picture all set up, Anderson appears to be a little hazy on some of the smaller details. Like the wedding dress.
"I haven't even thought about my dress yet," she told People, adding that the most progress she's made clothes-wise is having already chosen her veil. "I'm very excited. I'm starting to get dressed now."
The lack of fashion priorities, while likely shocking to bridezillas everywhere, isn't too surprising coming from Anderson. At the PETA activist's first wedding to Motley Crue rocker Tommy Lee, she wore little more than a swimsuit as the duo tied the knot on a California beach.
As for the wedding whirlwind, Anderson told the magazine she's unconcerned about the seemingly hectic pace of events, particularly the globetrotting.
"I do it all the time," she said. "I fly for real quick trips. We're going to France. We're going to have a reception and ceremony on the West Coast. Nashville. We have a lot going on. I'm just really excited.
"I'm more concerned about my kids and what they're doing over this week than what I'm doing. I want my kids to be a part of it. I want them to be there."
Anderson has two sons, 10-year-old Brandon and eight-year-old Dylan, from her three-year marriage to Lee. As for the Detroit-hailing Rock, he has a 16-year-old son, Robert James Ritchie Jr., from a previous relationship with autoworker Kelly South Russell.
Anderson and Rock, 35, rekindled their relationship this year. The duo, who began dating in 2001, got engaged in 2002 but split a year later before exchanging vows, let alone setting a date.
During the split, Anderson picked back up with Lee and, briefly, Stephen Dorff. She and Rock popped back onto gossip radar earlier this year, when photos of the duo on vacation--in Saint-Tropez of all places--began appearing online.
Anderson announced the duo's engagement just last week via a post to her Website, saying, "Yes, I'm finally getting remarried. It's been a whirlwind--spontaneous but well thought through."
"I'm in love. I'm happy. I see the light."

BBC America Thriller: Murder City
You may recognize this actor from the awful “Love Actually,” but BeansTalk knows him as Nick, from the Robert Lindsay/Zoe Wannamaker Brit sitcom “My Family.”
The glossy, fast-paced Murder City, peppered with dark humor, stars Amanda Donahoe (L.A. Law, The Madness of King George) as tough, methodical detective, Susan Alembic, and Kris Marshall (Love Actually, Doctor Zhivago) as Luke Stone, her highly creative, unorthodox junior partner. Luke’s unconventional ideas set him apart from the rest of the team, but Susan realizes it’s sometimes his unique approach that unlocks the mystery. Working closely with the rest of the busy inner-city murder squad, their investigations bring them face to face with tormented pasts, grim secrets and deadly deceptions as each grisly discovery puts their own lives in jeopardy.
Murder City premieres Thursday, August 17, 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT.
Susan and Luke make a killer team in ten, brand new cases. In the first, Luke uses complex math equations to stalk a lunatic murderer while Susan learns to trust a showboating clairvoyant. Then, when a fractured skull is found at a construction site, they have to unravel a long-closed multiple murder case involving a tangle of killings driven by sex, love, money, and vengeance. The third case sets Luke on the trail of a golden thong, which ultimately leads to a stolen baby ring. The next case leads them to a sacred religious society, the Magnati. The fifth murder case looks like a gang turf war at first, but turns out to be a family affair, while the final one is about a chick-lit writer who ended up with Mr. Wrong. Throughout all, Susan tries to curb Luke’s wild streak, while Luke sorts out his feelings for Annie in Pathology. And their boss, Turner, while sometimes impressed by their brilliant police work, remains most impressed with efficient staff members who save the department money.

EPISODE SYNOPSES
Episode One
When Jennifer and Billy Gilmartin return home from a party, they find their teenage daughter, Grace, is missing and her bedroom covered in blood. While detectives Susan Alembic and Luke Stone are meeting with the family, a psychic, Calvin Moran, arrives at the Gilmartin house claiming that Grace is alive. Luke discovers that Calvin has done time for fraud and he tries to discredit him. The Gilmartins ask Luke to leave, but not before Calvin predicts Luke’s death is imminent.
Cut to Schwartz-Briscoe Futures. Brandon Healy, a young futures trader, is working late at his desk when an arrow fires into his throat, killing him. As Luke looks over the company’s security tapes, he can’t understand how there could be no footage of anyone entering or leaving the building before or after the murder.
Back at the Gilmartin’s, Susan runs through the last conversations Grace had in an online chat-room. Detective Adrian Dumfries checks Billy’s alibi and discovers he left the party for an hour. Led by the psychic, Susan also unearths a long-dead body that is directly tied to Grace. There are now three more directions to pursue, but which one leads to the killer, assuming Grace is in fact dead?
Meanwhile, Luke finds an unlikely witness in front of Schwartz-Briscoe Futures, one that leads him to the arrogant, openly hostile Dylan Forbes, an actuary for the company. Could Dylan have used his probability and math skills to beat the security cameras?
Episode one premieres Thursday, August 17, 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT.
Episode Two
Just as the team is investigating a skull found at a construction site, they get news that an elderly woman has been stabbed to death in her bedroom. When Luke is investigating the crime scene, he wonders why she didn’t pull the alarm cord by her bed. Did she know her killer? When he notices that her son, Michael, dressed in a rush and has wet hair, he arrests him. But Michael has a rock-solid alibi. Luke’s boss, Turner, takes him off the case, and sends him to investigate the skull.
Luke wastes no time getting a facial reconstruction of the skull and sending the image to the press. Meanwhile, Adrian has found a bloody earring in the elderly woman’s bedroom which points to another family member.
A woman has responded to the image released to the press. She says this man killed her sister, and that she distinctly remembers a conversation in a taxi where this man said he just got a hole in one. Luke latches on to this – surely the identity of this man will be found in golf course records. A visit to the club leads Luke to his prime suspect, but while visiting his home, it’s the suspect’s wife who gets Luke’s attention and moves the investigation in another direction.
Episode two premieres Thursday, August 24, 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT.
Episode Three
When a body, severed from the waist down, is found at the dump, Luke traces the victim’s upscale gold silk lingerie to a small list of clients, eventually ending up at the victim’s apartment. Her name is Victoria, and a neighbor recalls that she left the apartment with a man late Saturday night, looking very drunk.
Back at the dump, Victoria’s arm is recovered. A skin sample under her nails leads to her sister, while the semen found on her lingerie points to her sister’s husband. Clearly there is something going on within the family, but when the team finds a huge amount of cash in Victoria’s apartment, they head to Victoria’s office, a language school.
When the team notices a connection between the cash overflow and a number of pregnant women at Victoria’s language school, the investigation takes a shocking turn.
Episode three premieres Thursday, August 31, 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT.
Episode Four
When a gallery owner is found drowned in the trunk of his car, the team heads to his business and his ransacked apartment, where they find a smashed bottle of beer, expensive perfume and casino chips.
Meanwhile, a disheveled man has confessed to five murders, but at least one of the victims had a heart attack. What should they do with him? Adrian decides he can help with the tedious job of piecing together the beer bottle for prints while he gets to the bottom of the mystery.
At the casino, Susan talks to the casino owner, while Luke interviews a femme fatale, Rosa, in the ladies’ room. She claims to know nothing, but her perfume is just one clue that she’s the dead man’s lover. As the investigation moves from the art world, to the casino, to the realm of religious artifacts, Susan grows increasingly concerned about Luke’s compromising relationship with the elusive Rosa.
Episode four premieres Thursday, September 7, 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT.
Episode Five
A drive-by shooting on a busy street in north London looks like a gang turf war, but the bullets didn’t stop once the gang target was shot. One of the dead found in the aftermath is Thierry Vasseur, a middle-aged, wealthy businessman. Luke is intrigued when the blood spatters in Thierry’s car are not consistent with a bullet in his head. When forensics reveals that Thierry was being poisoned, his wife and daughter become the prime suspects.
The name of health freak and jazz fanatic, Ken Hill, comes up more than once during the investigation. Ken has been recorded on the phone with Thierry making drug deals, and, even though Thierry’s wife, Ellen, denies knowing him, he has been photographed at jazz shows with her.
When Luke and Susan pay Ken a visit, he goes crazy, and is about to throw Luke off the balcony when he collapses from a heart attack. It’s hard to believe that a drug-dealing health nut would be sampling from his inventory. Is it possible that he’s also being poisoned?
Episode five premieres Thursday, September 14, 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT.
Episode Six
A voice-over tells us that the stylish young woman we see on screen is looking for Mr. Right, but cut to a hotel bedroom and the same girl is on the bed with a lover — a single bullet through both of their heads.
From a credit card, Luke and Susan identify the woman as Karen Hartson, but they can’t identify the man, although he looks familiar. They learn that Karen had rented the same room on six occasions in the last three months, always on a Wednesday afternoon: Karen and her lover would have been simple enough to track, but which was the target?
Back at the station they realize the male victim, Alan Scobie, was a witness in a case. The trial is set for a week’s time, is it possible that the suspect had him shot? Susan investigates the case working back from Alan, while Luke tries to get into Karen’s head. When he finds a novel in progress at Karen’s apartment, it’s a great place to start.
Episode six premieres Thursday, September 21, 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT.
Episode seven
When the dead body of a woman is thrown from the top of an apartment block, killing a man below, his fiancée, Lucy, is the only witness. Investigating the murder of the first victim leads Susan and Luke to a dating agency for married people.
The last person who saw the woman alive was Mark Drummond, a regular at the dating agency, so Susan goes undercover to ensnare him. But the investigation takes a turn when a shocking coincidence is revealed — Drummond and Lucy’s father know each other.
Susan finds herself in a dangerous situation. Drummond is telling her lies, and even worse, she’s falling for him. When Luke discovers that whoever pushed the woman off the roof meant to kill the man below, all signs point to an old family friend.
Episode seven premieres Thursday, September 28, 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT.
Episode eight *note new time*
A 17-year-old girl, Bethany, is found dead at boarding school. It looks like she slit her wrists, but when bloody footsteps are found leading away from the body, Luke thinks they might be looking at assisted suicide — or even murder. When it’s found that she was pregnant, the girl’s best friend leads Luke to their teacher, Julian McDowell. He’s got an alibi, but he won’t tell them what he was doing during the murder.
Meanwhile, Susan is trying to solve the murder of Vernon Duffy by firing squad. Duffy was recently acquitted on a rape charge because of a police error, so the husband of the victim is Susan’s prime suspect. When the husband’s alibi checks out, Susan realizes that her next suspects might be the jury for the rape case. Could they have taken it upon themselves to exact revenge?
Luke and Susan now know that Julian was a member of that jury, which was why he would not reveal his whereabouts. Moving on, Luke discovers the person Bethany trusted the most — the same person who threw him off scent at the start of the case — is responsible for her demise.
Episode eight premieres Thursday, October 5, 10 p.m. ET/PT.
Episode nine *note new time*
When Greg is run over by a red car, it looks like it was done deliberately. His wife is set to gain financially from his death, so she becomes the prime suspect. But when the owner of the car, Adam, turns up, something doesn’t fit.
Meanwhile, a woman makes an emergency call from Ryan Everett’s apartment when he’s been shot in the head by a sniper outside his window. He’s young, rich, handsome — but not dead, like they thought. When Susan talks to him about possible enemies, she gets the feeling he’s hiding something. The investigation reveals that Ryan is a gigolo, and that he owes lots of money to Adam — but for what?
Ryan was not always a gigolo, so a look at his past relationships may be the key to what he asked Adam to do, and why.
Episode nine premieres Thursday, October 12, 10 p.m. ET/PT.
Episode ten *note new time*
A student, Alice, is found strangled in her apartment. Her boyfriend, Jamie, is a prime suspect, but when Luke and Susan go to interview him, he’s making out with her mother.
Meanwhile, across town, a man has been shot dead and the gun has disappeared. When they visit his girlfriend’s apartment, she’s nursing a hangover with the gun in her hand. She doesn’t know whether she’s shot her boyfriend, Sam, or not. It’s up to Luke to prove she didn’t.
When Jamie’s alibi doesn’t check out with the time his girlfriend, Alice, was killed, Susan and Luke go to pick him up. A hotel towel makes Luke think that Alice’s murder is connected with Sam’s. Not only was Alice a cleaner at the hotel, Luke also learns that Sam’s friends, Tony and Joe, lied about visiting the hotel on the night of the murder.
Episode ten premieres Thursday, October 19, 10 p.m. ET/PT.
No-Commercial Godfather I, II
An Offer You Can’t Refuse: Turner Classic Movies to Air The Godfather, The Godfather II Uncut, Uninterrupted
Turner Classic Movies will premiere uncut, uninterrupted airings of The Godfather and The Godfather II at 8 and 11 p.m. ET on Sunday, August 6, 2006, it was announced today by Tom Karsch, executive vice president and general manager of TCM.
The two films are arguably the most successful and critically acclaimed original-and-sequel pair in the history of Hollywood. Each was not only a box-office blockbuster but also a Best Picture winner at the Academy Awards®. The Godfather was nominated for 10 Academy Awards® and won three Oscars®; The Godfather II was nominated for 11 Academy Awards® and won six Oscars®.
“The Godfather and The Godfather II became the prototype for all subsequent gangster films, catapulted the careers of Francis Ford Coppola, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, James Caan and Diane Keaton and put Marlon Brando forever into pop culture as the cliché mob boss because of his role as Don Vito Corleone,” said Tom Karsch, executive vice president and general manager of TCM. “TCM is proud to bring these influential, landmark films to viewers in their entirety.”
Because of the 8 p.m. start, a parental warning will precede the films, which carry a TV-MA rating. The rating, which recommends viewing by mature audiences only, indicates a program is specifically designed to be viewed by adults and therefore may be unsuitable for children under 17.
The two films will air during a day featuring the extraordinary Duvall as part of Summer Under the Stars, a month-long celebration dividing all 31 days among some of Hollywood’s most-enduring personalities. For the full schedule, please visit http://www.tcm.com/.

Before we say what we’re going to say, let us preface this by saying we are in no way implying we know any better or are any better fashion or beauty-wise. In fact, we simply call it like it is and describe ourselves as short, fat and our ethnicity.
But here’s the thing – she probably shouldn’t wear her hair back. She should probably keep it to its sexy tousled longish look. Her ears, in this hairdo, look huge. Like she could fly. Look at her expression in the close-up photo, right. Like she knows. Like her very wealthy successful award-winning mother should’ve pinned her ears back when she was younger. Hey! Just wear your hair down, honey.
But the Dinnigan dress is great and we’re all for supporting the local community. Especially one like

Lots of hip people wear them. Check this out...
See, they come in all kinds of sizes (sort of). To the left, you see Nicole Richie, which means they come in children's sizes. Above, Sharon Stone, so that means a thin, tall woman, and to the far right, on Mrs. My Fair Brady Adrienne Curry, it shows they fit an (America's Next) Top Model.
Seriously, if you're going to shell out the coin for these ultra popular jeans, you're going to be able to fit in them and they're going to look fantastic. FANTASTIC. Well, don't they??

We Love These Shirts!
Materialust’s collection of t-shirts features rare and exclusively licensed vintage artwork from various countries, cities, and unique destinations across the globe. This is SO a BeansTalk kind of thing.
The artwork appearing on the shirts derives from vintage travel brochures, matchbooks, pamphlets, napkins, and even street graphics. We say, oh so clever.
“Just about everyone has an emotional connection with traveling. Materialust is giving consumers part of that experience by exposing them to some of the most creative vintage travel artwork from around the globe,” says Steve Friedman, CEO of Tangerine Promotions.
For its first release Materialust will be taking its passengers to
Each shirt features a unique hang tag (resembling a vintage airline luggage tag circa 1964) with the airport codes of each destination and a special wash that makes each garment feel like an old souvenir t-shirt from your favorite vacation.
Materialust shirts retail between $50 and $60.
Materialust’s offices are based inSee how cute they are? Of course, we are a little tublet-y to wear crew neck (we are also cursed with being short of neck so this kind of neckline make us look like a cousin It kind of egg). But we would SO wear one of the V-neck. Cute cute. Love the concept.
McConaughey Dons Speedos
Matthew McConaughey took to the water on a hot summer day wearing Speedo’s summer style boardshort “Mackerel Cove”. The tan and navy shorts feature atropical print design on the side with a D-ring eyelet tie draw cord. Smokin’! (Despite what BeansTalk guilty pleasure Perez Hilton and his pals say are McConaughey’s stubby arms). Hey, we’re not huge fans -- we've been known to call him McCraza-hey -- but we call it like it is!
Speedo is evolving beyond swimwear into a fashion-forward portfolio of active wear for both men and women with the help of Olympians Michael Phelps and Amanda Beard. Celebrity clients include; Rebecca Romijn, Renee Zellweger, Jerry O’Connell, James Denton and Triathlon athlete & actress Maxine Bahns.

The British Are Coming! The British Are Coming!
Keane News: EXCLUSIVE
You heard it here first. The popular pop band Keane will shoot their latest music video this Friday in an undisclosed westside location (translate: the home of a BeansTalk friend).
BTW, I love the two photos here, initially when they started (and in their cute, but especially cute because there's a spice of nerd there) and here they are now, in their current super-hot, teen-dreamy stage. The latter means that there's a tad of 'tude.
Here's a bio for the unindoctrinated:
In 2002, following several years of experimenting and honing their sound, Keane decided that they needed to get out and play live. They booked two acoustic gigs, one at the 12 Bar Club, another at the Betsey Trotwood. Fierce Panda mini-mogul Simon Williams caught the Betsey Trotwood gig, and asked Keane to put out a single on his label.
They chose ‘Everybody’s Changing’, a sweeping, majestic ode to feeling utterly lost when everyone else seems to know the score, which was recorded for zero pence. “The recording session was a little rough and ready – the song was literally made in a room in someone’s house,” Tom laughs. “And we had to go round to a different house to mix it, because the speakers broke.” It would be difficult to find origins more desperately indie, yet ‘Everybody’s Changing’ sounded like a Number One chart hit before you even got to the chorus, and it immediately began turning heads. Steve Lamacq decided that it was one of the best singles in Fierce Panda’s entire history – not bad for a label, which housed early releases from Coldplay, Idlewild and Supergrass. He declared that Keane were “somewhere between a scuffed Coldplay and a frankly bewildered Beautiful South”, hammering the single on his show and eventually calling the band in for a session on BBC 6Music. Xfm were on the case, too, with Clare Sturgess requesting a session from the band, while a Sunday Times profile noted that Keane were responsible for “three and a half minutes of pure pop loveliness”. NME wrote that ‘Everybody’s Changing’ was “indisputably mighty” and compared Keane with “‘Kid A’-era Radiohead covering A-ha”.
What all these people spotted – and what the rest of the world will shortly find out for themselves – is that despite the reference points, Keane’s beguilingly beautiful music really isn’t like anything else that’s out there right now. “Our songs have universal themes and are emotional,” Tim nods. “People want emotion. But that seems like quite a rare thing these days. I don’t think there are many bands who are making music which actually means anything. There’s nothing to identify with.”
Things, at last, were beginning to gather pace. Keane’s first UK tour saw Tom, Richard and Tim performing at venues up and down the country to audiences of between five and 300 people. They didn’t look like many other bands – there was no guitarist, a factor which might send some purists screaming into the hills but, Richard says, really wasn’t a conscious decision.
By the time spring 2003 rolled around, the boys were out on the road again, and labels were already putting offers on the table. “All we were after was the opportunity to make the right record with the right people,” Tom shrugs – which is where Island stepped in. “We’ve never wanted to be a small, cult band,” Tom adds. “We want to get our music heard by as many people as we possibly can, because that’s why we’re making it.”
Throw in a startling appearance in the New Bands tent at the Reading and Leeds Carling Weekend, more plaudits for the boys’ second single ‘This Is The Last Time’. And, once again, it sounds like all the bands who’ve ever meant anything to anyone, but at the same time it only sounds like Keane.
“People often say that they wish they’d been around in the 60s,” Tom says. “But we’re happy just where we are. We love rock’s back catalogue, and now we’ve got a chance to add to it. After all, tunes never go out of fashion.”
Let's thank the web and Wikpedia for all the great info.
