PRIMETIME HIGHLIGHTS ON BBC AMERICA for October:

THE OFFICE SPECIAL (U.S. premiere)

The multi-award winning smash-hit spoof documentary The Office re-opens its doors for business in the U.S. premiere of The Office Special only on BBC AMERICA. Three years after the cameras stopped rolling, BBC AMERICA returns to Wernham Hogg to catch up with the staff, past and present, of the most famous paper merchants in Slough.

Gareth (Mackenzie Crook, Pirates of the Caribbean) is now office manager and Tim (Martin Freeman, Love Actually), last seen asking Dawn (Lucy Davis, Pride and Prejudice) out (again), appears to be nearing the point of despair. David Brent (Ricky Gervais) has blown his severance package on releasing a single, and now makes his living selling cleaning products door-to-door and making z-list celebrity appearances. Meanwhile, Dawn and her fiancé Lee (Joel Beckett) have relocated to Florida, but are being flown over specially by the documentary makers for the end-of-year office party. <>The Office Special brings the story to a close, as we find out whether anyone in this life ever gets what they really want.

Winner of two Golden Globes, a Peabody, four BAFTAs (the UK equivalent of the Emmys) and a Silver Rose at the Montreux TV Festival (Europe’s top television awards), in just two seasons the hit show has become one of the most critically acclaimed British comedies of all time on both sides of the Atlantic. The Office Special is sponsored by Honda.

The Office Special premieres Thursday, October 21, 2004 at 9 p.m. ET\PT.

AMNESIA (U.S. premiere original movie)

John Hannah (Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Mummy) stars as Detective Inspector Mack Stone whose life is turned upside down when his wife disappears in BBC AMERICA’s U.S. premiere original movie, Amnesia. When his wife Lucia (Beatriz Batarda) unexpectedly leaves him, Stone is desperate to find her. Trawling through lists of missing persons, he finds a picture of Paul West, who disappeared after his wife died in a fire. Stone is sure West is the true identity of John Dean (Anthony Calf Pride and Prejudice -- he was Col. Fitzwilliam), a man who turned up in hospital with head injuries and amnesia five years ago. Dean is now married to Jenna (Jemma Redgrave The Grid) and says he has no desire to dig up the past. But as Stone becomes obsessed with proving Dean is a murderer, the tables are turned and questions are asked about Lucia’s disappearance. Who is the killer and who has lost his memory?

Amnesia premieres Monday October 25 at 8 p.m. ET\PT.

PEEP SHOW (
U.S. premiere original comedy)

Ever wondered what goes on inside a man’s head? Welcome to the private world of Jeremy and Mark – two very ordinary weirdos – in BBC AMERICA’s all-new U.S. premiere original comedy, Peep Show. Wannabe pop star Jeremy (Robert Webb) is a lazy man with big ideas, mostly about himself. His old friend and roommate is the astonishingly tragic Mark (David Mitchell), an obsessive loser with a no-pain, no-gain view of the world. In an inventive twist, Jeremy and Mark’s inner thoughts can be heard - whether they be dark, stupid or embarrassingly over-blown. Or sometimes all three…

Full of cringe-inducing embarrassment and excruciating faux pas, much of the show’s humor is best described as ‘close to the bone.’ But if you like jokes about onanism, sex, death, and misshapen genitalia - this will be right up your alley…

Peep Show premieres Thursday, October 28, 2004 at 9:30 p.m. ET, 11:30 p.m. PT.

JUST FOR LAUGHS (U.S. premiere original comedy)

Practical jokes, a hidden camera and a few unsuspecting victims - the laughs are on BBC AMERICA this Fall in an all-new original hidden camera comedy premiere, Just For Laughs. In a fresh twist on the candid camera format, all of the gags are dialogue-free as bewildered members of the general public react to obscure and ridiculous situations that they stumble across in everyday life.

How would you react if a chef stabbed himself in the hand while demonstrating the cutting edge qualities of the latest kitchen knife? Or a cop pulls you over and emerges from his car to address you without any pants on? What would you do if a TAXI sign mysteriously appears on your car and tourists are lining up to get a ride? Or if a girl, with her arm in sling, asks you to pick up her dog’s poop? With no host and more than 20 set-ups per half-hour show, Just For Laughs is a fast-paced, fresh take on hidden camera comedy which emphasizes how we have the ability to laugh at ourselves, rather than at each other.

Just For Laughs premieres Saturdays and Sundays beginning October 2, 2004 and October 3, 2004 at 2 p.m. ET, 11 a.m. PT.

Sinatra on DVD: Frank Sinatra Show With Ella Fitzgerald

Available on DVD October 26, 2004 Through Music Video Distributors

Known as “The Golden Age of Television”, the fifties made way for big name stars like Charlie Chaplin and Frank Sinatra. Much of their success was due to the arrival of television variety shows. Most of the performers had honed their comedic skills on vaudeville stages, and they were ready to take these vaudeville-structured revues to television. On December 10, 1959, a rare rainy day in Palm Springs, California (hence the improvised sets and the cast ribbing Sinatra about his grand idea of filming in a “sunny” Palm Springs), The Frank Sinatra Show was filmed. This program is remastered from the archive tape of broadcast, and is the original show in its entirety including the sponsors promotional segments. With the special addition of guest star Ella Fitzgerald, it is a rare and glorious account of two of the most popular performers of the Twentieth Century

Passionate Voice: Singer/songwriter/instrumentalist Lisbeth Scott who co-wrote lyrics and provided solo vocals for the score to “The Passion of the Christ,” is now a solo artist. Scott will release her newest album, "Passionate Voice," inspired by her work on The Passion of the Christ, which is currently in stores through Burnside Distribution on Zone Records.

The Passion of the Christ soundtrack hit #1 on both the Soundtrack and Christian charts and climbed to #17 on Billboard's Top 200 in just two weeks. Mel Gibson (director, producer and co-writer of The Passion) said the score made the film "ten times better." The score was recorded in London, mixing Scott's vocals with a full orchestra and choir conducted by The Passion of the Christ composer John Debney.

Lisbeth Scott's singing voice has been featured in hit films including Shrek, Shrek 2, The Scorpion King, Spy Games, The Sixth Sense and the trailer for Troy. Her original songs and vocal performances have also been heard on television shows, including Alias, Survivor, Touched By An Angel, and MTV's Road Rules. She has spent the last four years performing in Europe and Asia, touring the West Coast, and recording and working with some of Hollywood's top film composers and musicians.

CNN filmed a piece about the classically-trained Lisbeth that aired internationally for four months, featuring her as the next in a long line of talented contemporary female singer/songwriters to make their mark in Hollywood. As an instrumentalist, she plays keyboards, guitar, and djembe. She has meshed cultures by singing in Armenian on past albums, Aramaic for The Passion of the Christ, and Latin for Paul Schwartz's album, "State of Grace," a Windham Hill/RCA release. Her solo release, "Dove" (2002), featuring members of The Seattle Symphony, hit #2 on the NAR charts.

Sad News: As suspected, it was revealed in today’s news that BeansTalk acquaintance Eric Douglas, did indeed, die from an overdose of alcohol and prescription drugs. Whatever the afterlife brings him, we hope it’s the solace he never seemed to find in life.
