Poor, Poor Plus Ones

Patchwork Hearts: From the Petro Zillia show March 16, 2005 at Smashbox Studios in Culver City.

Colorful Eccentricity at the Petro Zillia Show

Who Was There: Tiffani Amber-Theissen, Constance Zimmer, Paula Abdul, Fionula Hughes, Melissa Rivers.

Who We Were Most Excited About: Amiee Mann

What We Were Most Curious About: Amiee Mann’s black eye

Kickin' It: Started with a hip-hop performance from “recording artists” Jewla’ and RA.W. They “sang,” while four Laker-girl styled dancers swiveled. They performed throughout the show, too, which was, by the way, the final show of the first evening of Fashion Week and the day’s Main Event.

Not Too Surprising: Paula Abdul, who was “choreography consultant,” is teeny tiny, itty bitty.

What We Learned: “Plus ones do not sit in the second row!” (Fortunately for BeansTalk, uber-rep Kelly Cutrone wasn’t speaking to us, but the person to our right. As if this had made a pariah of the poor woman, BeansTalk managed to move a few seats down – actual purpose was to sit behind Karen Brailsford, but now we have a title for the novel we’ll probably never write.)

Petro Zillia Trends:

Super high wedge sandals and platforms

Skirts below the knee

Knee high socks

Knit Argyle

Coats slightly longer than dresses

Instead of a tank or blouse under a tweed suit, Nony put a knit hoodie with the hood over the jacket lapels

The multi-color 60s-style boucle suit is apparently NOT over, as there was one in this show. Run to your nearest mall shop to get one and be in style.

Animal and floral prints mix

Tweed
and leopard were popular with Nony

Long crochets sweaters and crocheted halters

Huge, gigantic lapels are in, too

The heart coat (seen above) featured a metallic purple sweater and collar over a gold charmeuse halter.

Finally, Nony's daughter was too cute for words. She took a bow with mum at the end of the show.
