The Valli Girls
Vals Debut
The Valli Girls debut Valli Nation on Columbia Records/Stonehall Entertainment features lead singer Raquel Houghton declaring, “All we need is to believe/So get out of the way/Because we’re taking over” – the song is on the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards soundtrack (out now), which features songs by Avril Lavigne, Alicia Keys, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, and more. “All American Girls” lyrics, say: “We don’t look like Britney/And we don’t lip sync on MTV.”
The band’s appeared in Billboard, Cosmo Girl! and US Weekly, The Valli Girls (www.valligirls.com) were featured on MTV’s “Power Girls.” Costa Rican native Houghton is the band's vocalist. Guitarist Danielle Haim— endorsed by Gibson guitars— cites influences as Zeppelin, Hendrix, Clapton and “all three Kings—Albert, Freddie and of course, B.B.” Danielle's sister, Este plays bass. Classically-trained Japanese-American, Ally Maki helms keyboard. Youngest band member Lil’ Nix plays seven instruments and plays drum beats with a hip-hop attitude.
Highlights from Valli Nation include “Never Say Never,” “Perfect Girl,” which is featured with a video of the Valli Girls on the Trollz DVD release in stores this fall, the anthem “Keys to the Hummer” plus the radio-ready track “Don’t Gotta,” available exclusively online. “What makes us different is we sing about real situations, real things that go on in our lives. With five girls, that's five times the drama,” says Houghton. "We're just ourselves," adds Este. "What you see is what you get.” Look for The Valli Girls on their upcoming “World Domination Tour” and summer debut release.
