BeansTalk's Exclusive Interview!

Sharon Gault (r) with a pop star.

Superstar Make-Up Artist Sharon Gualt on Runway and Real Trends

Jumping from NY Fashion Week to L.A. Fashion week, make-up artist Sharon Gault did the runway shows for Pegah Anvarian, Petro Zillia, and Gaelyn & Cianfarani and talks to BeansTalk in an exclusive interview about Runway and Real Way Make-up Trends

BeansTalk: What was the most amazing thing about this year's fashion week?

Sharon Gault: The most amazing thing about this years fashion week is the diversity we’re seeing from the designers. All of them are really coming into their own style and maturing. Their influences are expanding and that is really showing through in their collections.

B: What are going to be the trends off the runway?

SG: I would describe the trends off the runway as culturally diverse. People are really embracing the idea of expressing their own sense of style, in both fashion, hair and makeup. They are mixing different looks together in exciting, eclectic ways that are both inspired by fashion as well as inspiring the looks designers are creating for their collections.

B: Talk about the must-have makeup for each eyes, face, lips -- what colors, brands etc.?

SG: First of all, I always say that healthy looking skin never goes out of style. The skin should always look well moisturized and natural, and I prefer to just embellish the natural skin tones with a nice translucent foundation like the one from Senna cosmetics. I also think that the smokey eye is going to be a very popular look this season. It just makes women feel so seductive and sexy and I think that soft colors like eyeshadows from Beverly Hills Woman, or the earth tones from Senna Cosmetics fall pallete go well with all skin tones. One of my favorite makeup products is mascara. I love Tony & Tina Herbal Mascara and I love to use a lot of mascara to lengthen and thicken lashes, which really helps open and emphasize the eye. I also like using colored Mascara to add depth and brighten up the eyes. I also think that soft lips, just lightly stained with color are going to be seen a lot.

B: What's the best tip you can offer BeansTalk readers about makeup? How long should you keep it? Or do you keep some longer than others?

SG: The best tip to offer about makeup is to have fun with it. Makeup is not only a way to make yourself feel more beautiful, it is also a way to express your personality. Don't just follow trends but experiment with your own creativity. Keep makeup as long as you enjoy wearing the colors, but don't get stuck using the same thing over and over. Try new things. Be dramatic if you feel dramatic or subtle if your feeling like a softer look suits your mood. Just remember not to over do it. Too much foundation is never attractive. Always lean toward just making the skin look natural and healthy. And I personally find that If I want to wear a dramatic eye than the best thing to compliment that is a soft, nude lip or vice versa. Also don't be afraid to mix different
colors together to create a perfect shade and make your own "one- of-a-kind color" Makeup is a great way to express who you are and how you feel and all of us can have great fun with that concept.
