Award Season Hair for
Amy Adams & Emily Blunt

At the Golden Globes, Essensuals London owner Laini Reeves styled the hair of Best Supporting Actress nominee Amy Adams. Reeves was going for a modern, textured 20s look. She used Moroccan Oil shampoo and conditioner, followed by a hydrating cream. She then rough dried the hair to get volume, and went in with a curling iron to get a messy texture. She pulled all of Adam’s hair together in a loose braid and rolled it up and pinned it to nape of neck so you could see braid underneath. To finish off she pulled a few strands out to soften the look and curled them with a curling iron.

For the Critics Choice Awards Reeves styled hair for Amy Adams and Emily Blunt. Adams was wearing a form fitting dress that was open in the back. To show off the dress, Reeves gave her a low side bun. She curled her hair first, then pulled it into a side pony and rolled it into a bun.

For Blunt, who lightened her hair to a two tone honey blonde at Essensuals London, they gave her a natural look, creating slightly messy waves that showed off her new sunkissed tresses.

Force of Natur

Nature inspired jewelry offers a simple yet rustic quality that is forever in style. The Natur charm from Alessa Designs is a perfect choice for the stylish gal with a taste for delicate jewelry.

The Natur charm is a delicate 18 carat gold leaf adorned with white diamonds at the stem. The charm comes with a long leather wrap that can be wrapped and worn as a bracelet or necklace. Shown in the image, the charm dangles from a necklace made of natural spinel stones. The contrast of the gold leaf with white diamonds against the dramatic sparkle of the spinel stones is remarkable. The feminine leaf paired with a “darker” dramatic looking necklace gives the entire piece just enough naughty and nice. Worry not of losing this charm, the clasp is designed with the highest quality in mind. Safe and secure, the Natur charm dangles safely on your wrist or neck.

The Natur charm retails for $595 and comes with the versatile black leather wrap. The spinel necklace retails for $250. For more information please visit www.alessadesigns.com.

Stars Help Raise $ for 5 Non-Profits!

Celebs Help Raise $ for Five Non-Profits

On Tuesday, January 11, 2011 celebrities came out to raise money and awareness for five non-profits: Junior Achievement of Southern California, The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund; I’m Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation, The Trevor Project and Grassroots Soccer are all organizations making a difference locally and globally, and which have strong support from the Hollywood community.

“High School Musical” star Zac Efron came to the party with his cancer survivor cousin Emily Hobson who is the Regional Chair for the LA Chapter of I'm Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation, the charity that Zac was there to support (they are seen in the photo above). Zac was emotional on the red carpet when he spoke about his “lifelong best friend “and cousin Emily being cancer free and the importance of the work that i2y Cancer Foundation does is to support young adults with cancer. 12 time GRAMMY nominated hip-hop artist Snoop Dogg attended the benefit with his wife Shante Broadus and their son. Snoop expressed his heartfelt pride about his wife’s “I Am Shante” foundation’s charity work to help empower women and was excited to discuss his youth football league which he started over 7 years ago to give back to children in his community.

Super Bowl Champion, co-host of “FOX NFL Sunday” and actor Michael Strahan attended the benefit with fiancé Nicole Murphy in support of The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which takes care of our brave servicemen and women. Michael had a personal commitment and wasn’t able to stay for his highly anticipated Madden Football video game battle against Zac Efron, but the two stars plan to schedule a rematch on behalf of The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund and I’m Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation, two of their favorite charities. Michael Strahan assured the celebrity video game tournament organizers, “I’m very excited for this epic video game battle against Zac and I assure you that I wasn't scared and dodging the “High School Musical” star at last night’s benefit. I look forward to rescheduling our Madden Football match and to waking away a Champion in honor of The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.”

The final matchup was between WWE Champion Mike "The Miz" Mizanin who represented The Trevor Project and UFC Champion and actor Quinton "Rampage" Jackson who represented Grassroot Soccer. They battled it out in a game of UFC Undisputed 2010 where Rampage played himself in the game and The Miz played UFC star Forest Griffin. There was a lot of smack talking between the two finalists and The Miz and Rampage were both intent on being victorious for their charities. Comedian Brad Sherwood (“Whose Line Is It Anyway”) was the play-by-play commentator for the final matches and was cracking jokes about both contestants that kept the crowd roaring. The finals was a best 2 out of 3 games and Rampage won the first game against The Miz in under a minute with a fierce knockout and he won the second game in under two minutes crowning him the Champion.

Frank Verdugo, President of the H.OM.E. Foundation, the event’s proud title sponsor, presented Rampage with a check for $10,000 to Grassroots Soccer onstage while the crowd went wild and cheered their Champion. Rampage said he was in South Africa while promoting his film “The A Team” last year, and he saw firsthand the devastating effects HIV and AIDS has on the people there. Rampage said that he is so moved that his win in the tournament would help Grassroot Soccer continue their incredible work to fight HIV and AIDS in Africa via education. “Grassroot Soccer is so honored that Quinton "Rampage" Jackson displayed the skills of a true champion and emerged as the $10,000 winner of the H.OM.E. Foundation’s STIKS Celebrity Video Game Challenge For Charity. This money will enable GRS to provide the knowledge, life skills and support to hundreds of African youth so they can live HIV free and make the right choices in life", says Ethan Zohn, founder of Grassroot Soccer and winner of “Survivor.” Debra Stone from TY KU presented Rampage the Champion with a special gift set, which included TY KU Asian Superfruit Liqueur, Soju Low Cal Vodka alternative (to make “skinny cocktails”) and their premium Junmai Ginjo Sake.

Soccer star Cobi Jones (seen above with Ethan Zohn), actors Edwin Hodge, Aldis Hodge, Josh Henderson, Joe Torre and dancer tWitch, were all victorious in their video game battles playing on behalf of Junior Achievement of Southern California, Grassroot Soccer, The Trevor Project, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund and I’m Too Young For This Cancer! Foundation. Actor Chris Evans, seen next as “Captain America” in the comic book blockbuster came out to show his support to The Trevor Project. The red carpet was packed with stars including Mehcad Brooks, Nick Swardson, Michael Gladis, Briana Evigan, Evan Ross, Robbie Jones, Nestor Serrano, Jonathan Lipnicki, Gregory Michael, Lil C, Samm Levine, Quddus Philippe, Jonathan Lipnicki, Aubry Fisher and more who all had a great time helping to raise money and awareness for five amazing charities last night.

Guests were greeted by NikkiZ Angels’ cheerleaders decked out in Team Threadz uniforms when they entered the party while Queen’s anthem “We Will Rock You” played getting everyone in the mood for some healthy competition. Aerial artists soared high through the sky as go-go dancers had partygoers joining them on the dancefloor while DJ Cobra, accompanied by live drummer Griffin created an electrifying set. Girl group BG5 seen on the hit TV show “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” performed two songs and California rap duo, The PAPERMATE$ performed their “STIKS” theme song accompanied by two electric violinists onstage. Guests enjoyed custom cocktails provided by TY KU, and gourmet snacks and delicious desserts all in the gorgeous multi-media event space at Spot 5750. Frank Verdugo, President of the H.O.M.E. Foundation, announced the launch of their signature H.O.M.E. Foundation raffle at the party and explained to guests how they can continue support their favorite non-profits via the raffle, while winning fabulous prizes like a $1 million dream home in Los Angeles. As guests left the party, they were treated to Urban Detox by Function Drinks to keep them refreshed and hydrated.

America -- Focus of New PBS Series

As anyone who’s ever flown in a commercial airplane knows, America looks very different from the skies. Plucked from their living rooms and transported above the clouds on an epic journey, viewers will discover a fascinating, new perspective on the hidden rhythms and patterns of American life in PBS’ AMERICA REVEALED. Using aerial footage, high-definition video and real-time satellite data, this new miniseries traces the movements and communications that miraculously come together to manufacture goods, transport people and materials, grow tons of food and power our increasingly tech-savvy nation. Produced by award-winning Lion Television, the series is slated to air Fall 2011 on PBS.

Technology expert and communications attorney Yul Kwon (winner of “Survivor: Cook Islands”) is the series’ adventurous guide. Over the course of four hours, Kwon jumps out of airplanes, climbs to the top of an energy tower in Montana, accompanies a Nebraska farmer on a crop harvest and rides with Las Vegas cabbies during the city’s annual cowboy convention. The result is a fresh and surprising view of how an incredibly vast and complex country like America actually works.

Based upon the BBC’s award-winning “Britain From Above,” AMERICA REVEALED shows viewers how a violent lightning storm can wreak havoc on a regional power grid, sending high-voltage surges across miles of transmission lines — even into a typical American living room — and threatening the stability of the whole grid. Archival footage and aerial images document the meteoric rise of urban centers, suburban neighborhoods and America’s interstate highway system. GPS information reveals the invisible “tracks” commercial aircraft leave as they streak across the sky, while data from the retail industry’s Radio Frequency Identification tags show how goods from a single container ship are quickly transported across the nation.

“America is a nation of intricate networks that keep the country running every minute, every hour of every day,” says Nick Catliff, executive producer and president, Lion Television. “And yet most of us probably know very little about what it really takes to deliver goods to our door, build the cars we drive, power our homes and mobile devices, and feed our families.”

Tony Tackaberry, executive producer and CEO, Lion Television, adds: “The aerial photography, along with a range of pioneering visual techniques the series will employ, will give viewers a glimpse of the nation as they’ve never seen it, while the previously untapped data will offer new insight into the forces that shape our everyday lives.”

AMERICA REVEALED is not only about the country’s physical infrastructure, however. The series also introduces the men and women whose work involves observing America from above: a crop duster who struggles to maintain pinpoint accuracy while dodging power lines and facing high winds; a power station supervisor who fights the danger of a multi-state blackout; an air traffic controller who directs planes in crowded skies; a bridge worker who braves dizzying heights to repair a failing suspension cable.

“AMERICA REVEALED will be a completely new experience for PBS viewers,” says John F. Wilson, PBS’s chief television programming executive. “This series employs an imaginative new form of storytelling, bringing visual imagery and information together to offer viewers an unprecedented way to fully explore and understand the country where we live and work.”

AMERICA REVEALED episodes include (all working titles):

• “The Great American Breadbasket”--How America keeps pace with its insatiable appetite; who decides what food is produced; and how pastures and prairies turned into the biggest food machine in the world.

• “The American Dynamo”--How America propels itself through energy, including the extraction of valuable ore and oil; the creation of electricity through water, wind and nuclear power; and the intricacies of energy distribution.

• “America in Motion”--How America moves, whether the transportation mode is a bicycle on a neighborhood sidewalk, a family car on the mammoth interstate highway system or air traffic moving above the clouds.

• “Made in America”--How American industry creates, whether it’s a simple cardboard box, a sleek new car, a jumbo jet or a tiny silicon chip, and how supply and demand, manufacturing and assembly are interconnected.

AMERICA REVEALED is a multiplatform series with extensive web, mobile and educational content. Before, during and after the broadcast, PBS viewers will be able to view and personalize extensive material from the series as well as contribute their own original content. For teachers and students, a wealth of research, graphics, videos and archives will be made available to align with the classroom curriculum.

AMERICA REVEALED is a production of Lion Television. The executive producers are Nick Catliff and Tony Tackaberry. The executive in charge of production is Ruth Johnston.

Drugged on NGC

Two-Night Event, Drugged Premieres

Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 8 PM & 9 PM ET/PT

And Monday, January 17, 2011, at 9 PM ET/PT

Getting “high” is an unquenchable national desire — one that impacts the human body of the one-time recreational user and severe addict alike. From the first sniff, puff, inhalation or swallow, our bodies work to process the substances taken in. Now, National Geographic Channel (NGC) takes you beneath the skin to reveal how our bodies react to three common drugs: marijuana, cocaine and ecstasy.

From the producers of NGC’s critically acclaimed Inside the Living Body special, Drugged — a two-night event premiering Sunday, January 16, 2011, at 8 p.m. ET/PT — shows what the human body undergoes when drugs are introduced to its organs. Cutting-edge imaging techniques delve deep inside the lungs, heart, blood vessels and brain to give a unique inside-out perspective on its heart-racing, palm sweating and mind warping effects.

Find out why so-called stoners get the “munchies” and bloodshot red eyes, what makes cocaine users feel like superman — full of euphoria and self assurance — and why ecstasy triggers socially friendly feelings. And see how the physiology behind these effects opens the door to pioneering experiments that may change our understanding and treatments of these drugs.

Premiere episodes include:

DRUGGED: High on Marijuana
Sunday, January 16, 2011, at 8 PM ET/PT

Most medicines that doctors prescribe, there’s a lot of side effects, there’s a lot of risk and you have to balance out the risk benefit ratio,
but with Cannabis it’s very much non-toxic. — Dr. Julie Holland, Author, The Pot Book

In the last year, 28 million Americans have rolled a joint, smoked a pipe, sparked up a bong or eaten a pot brownie. Now, follow an entire marijuana high in an adult from start to finish, beginning with the inhalation of cannabis smoke. Using vivid CGI, see how the chemicals slip through a stoned subject’s membranes lining the lungs and into the bloodstream, then on to the heart, up the spine and into the brain. Find out why users get red eyes and the so-called munchies, and explore the difference in the body when cannabis is eaten rather than smoked. We’ll see what role genetics might play in a person’s response to cannabis, take a look at the mysteries of why a high sometimes turns to a low and learn more from the forefront of current marijuana research.

DRUGGED: High on Cocaine
Sunday, January 16, 2011, at 9 PM ET/PT

The more cocaine that gets in the brain, the more dopamine is released,
the more pleasure, the more rush, the more high.
— Dr. Scott Lane, Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences

Cocaine, a powerful and at times a destructive drug, is glamorized by models, rock stars and celebrities. In this episode, CGI zooms inside the human body from the moment a line of the white powder is inhaled and flies up the nose at up to 100 mph. Learn about the feel-good role of dopamine and what makes users want more. Then, cutting-edge imaging shows the dangers of cocaine abuse from the inside, such as increased heart attacks and the destruction of nasal tissue. Finally, see how a unique vaccine is being designed to block the effects of a cocaine high, offering hope for addicts.

DRUGGED: High on Ecstasy
Monday, January 17, 2011, at 9 PM ET/PT

Ecstasy causes people to embrace one another… it is a social bonding feeling.
It creates intimacy and that’s why people use it, is to have this powerful emotional connection with one another. — Dr. Stacy Hail, Toxicologist and ER specialist

Over the past 30 years, ecstasy has become a top club drug. We follow two ecstasy users as they get high, journeying inside their bodies using imaging techniques to explore how the drug creates its highs and its lows. With access to pioneering research at the University of Chicago, we find out how ecstasy creates empathy in the user and how this could one day lead to the drug being used as a life saving medicine. While ecstasy is the perfect high for some, there are those for whom ecstasy is agony: we’ll follow a young woman whose use of the drug landed her in the psychiatric ward and a mother whose 16-year-old son died after taking ecstasy.

Drugged is produced by Pioneer Productions for National Geographic Channels. For Pioneer, producer/director is Tom Pearson; series producer is Martin Mortimore; and executive producer is Yavar Abbas. For the National Geographic Channel, executive producer is Allan Butler; senior vice president of production is Michael Cascio; and executive vice president of content is Steve Burns.
