Cheers' Stars Reunite

Rhea Perlman and Kirstie Alley to Reunite

Rhea Perlman will reunite with longtime friend and former “Cheers” co-star Kirstie Alley in the pilot “Giant Baby,” it was announced today by Keith Cox, executive vice president, development and original programming, TV Land. Perlman will play Thelma, Maddie’s (Alley) long-suffering assistant and best friend, who encourages her boss to form a relationship with the son she gave up for adoption, Arlo (previously known as “Owen”). The network originally announced the Alley-headlined project as a presentation last month.

“We’ve hit the jackpot getting Kirstie and Rhea back together,” said Cox. “It’s a dream to work with such talented comedic actors like these ladies and create a show for them that’s funny and has interesting characters – ‘Giant Baby’ hits all of those notes.”

“Giant Baby” revolves around Madison “Maddie” Banks, a Broadway star who finds her life turned upside down when Arlo, her long-lost son, turns up looking to connect after his adopted mother has died. However, Maddie doesn’t exactly see nerdy and schlubby Arlo fitting in with her luxurious lifestyle. When her attempt to change Arlo backfires, Maddie finds that perhaps they both could use a little change in their lives.

“Giant Baby” is written and executive produced by Marco Pennette and is also executive produced by Kirstie Alley and Jason Weinberg. Larry W. Jones and Keith Cox serve as executive producers for TV Land.

Petra Nemcova filming in the Lower East Side in New York City

James Franco & Petra Nemcova discuss direction while taking a break from filming at Le Baron Nightclub

Stuart Weitzman, the American shoe designer knows how to merge fashion, sex appeal and style into each of his designs. This ingenuity led to the decision to enlist the multi-faceted actor, author, artist, producer, screenwriter, poet and director James Franco to creatively bring the brand philosophy to life on the social media small screen. The dynamic brand film, a series of four vignettes, stars Stuart Weitzman shoes worn by supermodel Petra Nemcova.

Inspired by the ‘80s movie Mondo New York, the short film follows a young woman on a midnight fantasy stroll into the rarified underground scene of New York City. Stuart Weitzman stilettos and boots walk and explore the downtown streets and gain entry into the city’s most sought-out after party at the legendary Le Baron nightclub, Peels restaurant, the Hole gallery and Freeman’s Alley.

Set to a modern remake of the classic Patsy Cline song, “Walking After Midnight” by the band Girl in a Coma, the film captures the attributes of the Stuart Weitzman woman – independent, confident, sexy and playful – in a visually seductive and intriguing way. This chic and sophisticated woman lives in motion; she is as comfortable in her own skin as she is in her Stuart Weitzmans. The film illustrates that no matter how high the heel, Stuart Weitzman stilettos can take you from day to night – and early into the next morning.

“Walking After Midnight” will release the first of its four vignettes on Wednesday, Oct 3rd at 12:01 a.m. on the Stuart Weitzman Facebook page. Facebook and Twitter will fuel the conversation by encouraging people to engage in the ultimate viewing party, share the video, and step inside the metropolitan lifestyle of the heroine and her shoes as captured by James Franco. Because a key theme of the film is the concept of “walking,” the hashtag #WALKON will be a trending topic on Twitter. The next three episodes will be released on consecutive “Weitzman Wednesdays” and the entire film will go live on October 26, 2012.

Ike & Tina Turner

Ike & Tina Turner
On the Road: 1971 - 1972
Available 20 November 2012

By combining soul music with an explosive stage show, complete with the high energy dance choreography of Tina Turner and the Ikettes, and an ingredient sorely missed in today's soul - gritty rock n' roll - Ike & Tina Turner gained a reputation as one of the great live acts of all-time. In the early 70's, legendary rock photographer Bob Gruen and his wife Nadya toured with Ike & Tina, filming them performing, on the road, and behind the scenes. Now for the first time ever this footage is available to the public... This is a look inside a hardworking band as well as an iconic couple

With portable video recorders not as prominent during that era as they are nowadays, no one has seen scenes like this. But with the release of Ike & Tina: On The Road: 1971-72, fans are finally treated to a must-see behind-the-scenes view of the band, at the peak of their powers. Similar to an earlier DVD set, The New York Dolls: All Dolled Up, the Gruens toured with Ike & Tina and documented everything in black and white (and some color as well). Now, 40 years later, fans get to experience what it was like to be with one of the most popular touring/recording bands of this time period.

In addition to simply awesome renditions of several Ike & Tina classics, we also get a glimpse of the group at work in the recording studio, Tina and the Ikettes practicing their dance routines (and primping their wigs!), and goofing around on airplanes and in airports. We even get to see inside Ike & Tina's house and the couple's funky retro '70s home décor, as Tina cooks dinner for her kids.

A lot has been written about Ike and Tina's relationship over the years (mostly in the negative light). But for many years, they were able to coexist together in the public eye, and in the process, created some of the most exciting and gripping soul/rock music ever recorded. Now with Ike & Tina: On The Road: 1971-72, we have a more than worthy visual accompaniment to their classic sounds.

"The film Whats Love Got To Do With It? shows why Ike and Tina Turner broke up," says Gruen. "Ike & Tina: On The Road: 1971-72 shows why Ike and Tina were together for twenty years before that."

New Series: To Catch a Smuggler

Millions of dollars of contraband are seized annually by agents and officers with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, one of the largest hubs for international travel in the United States. It’s a job where everything — from the safety of their team to the security of the nation — is at stake. Any stone left unturned is an opportunity for criminal activity that could put the country at risk. The only thing they’re often given to act on: gut instinct.

Go behind the X-ray scanners and security doors at JFK with officers of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and special agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the new series To Catch a Smuggler, premiering Oct. 8 at 9 PM ET/PT on the National Geographic Channel. Nothing and no one is above suspicion.

Two major agencies at JFK work together to limit the amount of illegal drugs and banned goods coming into the United States. CBP officers stand at the gates, checking passports and assessing passengers; they are the first line of defense, tasked with observing suspicious activities and making inquiries. ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents take these cases to the next level to uncover the real source of the criminal activity by exposing contraband and eliciting confessions. Now National Geographic goes where cameras are rarely allowed — into the interrogation room with agents as they identify, search, question and arrest criminals, engaging in a cat-and-mouse game for the truth.

Supervisory officer Joe Finn, who leads a team of CBP officers, says, “I love catching drugs … I mean that’s what I find more fun than anything. It’s always coming in …. It’s a hunt. And when you find it, it’s very satisfying.”

People employ numerous methods to smuggle drugs into the country. Sometimes it’s a clever form of concealment; most times, less so. In an early episode, thorough detective work causes the story of an Ecuadorian man to unravel, and despite continued protestations an X-ray reveals that he’s swallowed large pellets of liquid heroin. Later in the series, a random baggage search by CBP officers of an 18-year-old reveals cocaine in the lining of his luggage, seeping out through the cracks in his suitcase and mixing in with his clothes. After he’s arrested, HSI agents convince him to cooperate and start naming names.

Drugs aren’t the only thing these agents are looking for. Fruits, meats and other foreign produce, potentially carrying harmful pests and bacteria that could devastate the country’s agricultural industry, are confiscated and destroyed, including nearly 25,000 seizures in 2011 alone. Officers in the mail room inspect nearly 700,000 packages a day for drugs, counterfeit money, exotic animals or worse. For ICE and CBP agents, it’s all in day’s work.

Premiere Episodes Include:

To Catch a Smuggler: Courier to Kingpin
Premieres Monday, Oct. 8, at 9 p.m. ET/PT
At New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, one of the largest hubs for international travel in the United States, officers of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and special agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are always on the hunt for contraband. When a flight arrives from South America, the CBP team sends the plane’s luggage through X-ray and then to the K-9 team, which immediately picks up on a package containing crystal meth. Next, CBP Officer Redpath interviews a traveler returning from his wedding ceremony in Bangladesh. The passenger admits to filing a false report about his kidnapped parents at the U.S. Embassy, which further intrigues Officer Redpath — is this a crime for CBP or the FBI? A Guyana flight arrives with a man making his third trip in the past year — a little too frequent, in the officers’ opinions. After inspecting the passenger’s bag, the team finds 4 kilos of cocaine. A young kid arrives from the Dominican Republic and Officer Finn has a suspicion about him. After seven calls to relatives fail to verify the young man’s story, Officer Finn decides to take him in for an X-ray.

To Catch a Smuggler: Cavity Courier
Premieres Monday, Oct. 15, at 9 p.m. ET/PT
A flight arrives from Guyana, a recent hot spot for smuggling activity, and CBP Officer Elias has his eye on a particularly nervous passenger. As soon as Officer Elias opens the man’s bag, he sees a false bottom concealing cocaine. Officer Redpath interviews a woman from Paraguay about the stamps in her passport. It takes very little coaxing to get this woman to admit to living illegally in the U.S. for seven years — and she’s not going to be admitted into the U.S. today. A Jamaican man is stopped by CBP officers and becomes very nervous. After the officers remove his shoes, they discover cocaine in the bottom worth around $60,000. On another arriving flight from Guyana, a woman in baggage claim keeps looking back at the officers — is this a dead giveaway for a smuggler? After Officer Finn’s tough interrogation proves futile, he tries a gentler approach with the woman, which ultimately leads to her confession.

To Catch a Smuggler: Hidden Heroin
Premieres Monday, Oct. 22, at 9 p.m. ET/PT
When a man arrives from Ecuador without luggage, CBP Officer Finn wastes no time meeting him at baggage claim for questioning. The team brings him into a private room for a pat-down and the traveler’s story begins to unravel, forcing the officers to do an X-ray for ingested drug pellets. CBP’s target team discovers a package containing engine pistons. When the weights of each piston begin to differ drastically, the officers decide to drill for drugs, leading them to a heroin trafficker in D.C. Later, a very nervous traveler arrives on a flight from Nigeria. As Officer Finn probes, the man seems to be stumbling over his story.

To Catch a Smuggler: Coke in the Coat
Premieres Monday, Oct. 29, at 9 p.m. ET/PT
A family arrives on a flight from Peru carrying bags full of leather jackets. After CBP officers go through the bags, they discover cocaine in the lining of the coats. The father admits to transporting the bags, but claims he never knew he was carrying drugs. In the mail room, Officer Boris identifies a package containing a photo album … and half a pound of heroin worth around $13,000. When flights arrive from Pakistan, Egypt and Kuwait simultaneously, Officer Elias is already on his toes, but when a radiation detector starts going off, the team must identify the source without causing panic among the passengers.

To Catch a Smuggler: Search & Seize
Premieres Monday, Nov. 5, at 10 p.m. ET/PT
For CBP officers Ramirez and Finn, an 18-year-old trying to smuggle cocaine in the lining of his suitcase proves to be a slam dunk. When he is selected for a random baggage search, CBP officers find the narcotic seeping through cracks in his suitcase. Now they work to get him to cooperate and start naming names. Later, at immigration, an unemployed man from Nigeria claims to be in the country to purchase computer parts while traveling with just $100. Through deft ICE interrogation, his story starts to unravel, and he may be barred from the U.S. for five years. Finally, a woman from Jamaica attempts to smuggle undeclared food, and cockroaches are crawling out of her bag.

Dave Matthews Bows at No. 1

With its new album, Away From The World (RCA Records), bowing at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Dave Matthews Band reaches a new milestone, becoming the first group in chart history to have six straight studio albums debut atop the chart. Away From The World, the band's eighth studio album, sold 266,000 units in its first week of release. It is the follow-up to 2009's Platinum-certified Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, which was nominated for two GRAMMY® awards.

Dave Matthews Band celebrated the release of Away From The World with a show at the historic Hollywood Bowl last Wednesday. "'Mercy' [is] full of potential to become as captivating a pace-changer as 'The Space Between' was last night, when Matthews played a beautiful, stripped down version of the 2001 song solo under one spotlight," observed Entertainment Weekly. The Hollywood Reporter praised the band's renditions of new songs such as "the soft, melodic 'Gaucho'; 'Snow Outside'; 'Mercy,' which featured an effectively slow buildup; and 'The Riff,' a compelling standout ...after more than two decades on the road, there isn't a stage built yet he [Matthews] can't make feel like home."

Fans can check out Dave Matthews Band performing two tracks from the new album on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" at:

"Mercy"

"The Riff"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zrmefTh0TA&list=UUa6vGFO9ty8v5KZJXQxdhaw&index=2&feature=plcp

"Mercy," which the band also performed on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," quickly climbed to No. 1 on the Triple A radio charts over the summer. Today "Mercy" goes to Hot AC radio while "If Only," the album's second single, is serviced to the Triple A format. You can view Dave Matthews Band's exclusive performance of "If Only" for EllenTV.com at:

http://www.ellentv.com/2012/09/12/dave-matthews-performs-if-only

"Away From The Worldnods toward both DMB's past and its future," said USA Today. "The band reunites with Steve Lillywhite, who produced its first three albums; at the same time, the horn section of trumpeter Rashawn Ross and saxophonist Jeff Coffin is evolving into the role once filled by LeRoi Moore, who died in 2008. The band achieves balance in the midst of transformation."

Rolling Stone hailed Away From The World as "their strongest album in years" while The New York Times' Jon Pareles noted: "The songs have grown-up concerns, from lifelong love to the entire sweep of human history, in settings that range from sparse intimacy to intricate folk-and-funk excursions."

Dave Matthews Band - comprising Carter Beauford (drums), Stefan Lessard (bass), Dave Matthews (vocals, guitar) and Boyd Tinsley (violin) - was the biggest ticket seller worldwide of the past decade and has sold over 18 million tickets since its inception. The group has sold a collective 37 million CDs and DVDs combined.

The concert is Best Buddies New Yorks annual benefit with all proceeds going to the nonprofit, an organization (founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver) dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement and opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Presented by Klingman & Associates, the concert has quickly become one of Manhattans most sought after performances.

Creative Director and award-winning concert pianist Elaine Kwon back onstage to engage the audience in a series of pairs combinations of musicians, actors, and dancers that join with each other through various moods and compositions.

Elaine describes this program as a journey that connects and develops like hiking and climbing a mountain in the same ways that Best Buddies New York creates relationships, opportunities, and accomplishments.

Among the world-class artists joining Elaine are Grammy and Tony Award pianist David Bryan of Bon Jovi, Marcy Richardson, soprano, Lev Zhurbin on viola/violin, and dancer Christopher Erk. Master of Ceremonies and Buddies (people with intellectual disabilities) will present and perform on stage.

VIP cocktails, Fantastic Fathers award ceremony, and silent auction are at 6:00 before the concert begins at 7:30. Silent auction items include a luxury handmade necklace by Italian designer Maria Vittoria Albani (MVA) and a Raymond Weil mens watch.
