EE I EE I OH!!”
Old MacDonald Might Have Had a Farm,
But The Incredible Dr. Pol Has 19,000 Patients
— Cows, Chickens, Horses, Pigs…
and a Hit Returning Series!
NAT GEO WILD’S FAVORITE HOUSE CALL-MAKING VETERINARIAN IS BACK FOR A NEW SEASON OF ANIMAL EMERGENCIES IN
THE INCREDIBLE DR. POL
The Incredible Dr. Pol Season 2
Premiered Saturday, August 25, at 10 PM ET/PT on Nat Geo WILD
With a quack-quack here and a moo-moo there, everyone’s favorite veterinarian is back, bringing us closer to cows, chickens, horses and countless other animals in the return of Nat Geo WILD’s #1 series The Incredible Dr. Pol. When a horse begins to shed pounds, a pregnant cow has a fever or a calf is born hairless and sickly, Dr. Jan Pol is front and center with his old-school approach to veterinary medicine.
Returning for a second season, The Incredible Dr. Pol premiered Saturday, August 25, at 10 PM ET/PT on Nat Geo WILD. Dr. Pol travels across rural Michigan to care for every family pet and head of livestock in need of his expertise and kindness … and no health insurance required! Treating numerous patients, including horses, pigs, cows, sheep, alpacas, goats, cats and dogs, Dr. Pol is not your average vet. A local legend making farm calls, Dr. Pol serves his patients with unmatched compassion, humor and expertise, treating all animals no matter their size or condition.
His right-hand team includes his wife, Diane, the office manager; Dr. Brenda Grettenberger, Dr. Pol’s long-time colleague; and Dr. Pol’s son Charles, who visits from Los Angeles to help with the workload and farm calls. And to help with the increasing patient load, Dr. Pol and Dr. Brenda seek a new veterinarian to join the team.
This season, Dr. Pol and his team encounter even more animal ailments. From a dog that really does eat homework to a rabbit with a bleeding ear, you’ll be amazed by Dr. Pol’s quick fixes and lasting solutions. We’ll join him on emergency farm calls that demonstrate his unfailing energy and care, such as delivering a premature calf and treating the sick mother, or identifying a mysterious illness plaguing a horse. Nat Geo WILD cameras follow the day-to-day operations of the clinic and learn why Dr. Pol’s clients can’t help but call him “incredible.” And we agree — ee I ee I oh!
Premiere episodes include:
The Incredible Dr. Pol: Polnado Warning
Premiered Saturday, August 25, at 10 p.m. ET/PT
In the season premiere, it’s back to school time. First up for Dr. Pol: a dog that really does eat homework. The curious dog gets a spiral notebook stuck in its gums. With some anesthesia and a few quick moves, Dr. Pol safely removes the spiral metal. Then, a farm call sends Dr. Pol and his son Charles running in circles to catch a horse that is rapidly losing weight. One quick peek in the mouth and Dr. Pol decides to shave down the pointed teeth so the horse will begin eating again. Back at the clinic, Dr. Pol is busy with clients when tornado sirens start blaring. The whole clinic, including the owners and pets, must move to the basement to ride out the storm.
The Incredible Dr. Pol: Udder Madness
Premieres Saturday, September 1, at 10 p.m. ET/PT
Dr. Pol and Dr. Brenda are juggling an explosion of patients. First, Dr. Brenda removes an abscess from the head of a puppy. Then, Dr. Pol determines a horse’s teeth are not aligned, making it difficult for her to chew. He quickly nips the horse’s teeth, allowing her to comfortably chew her food again. Next, Dr. Pol discovers a sick cow not only has a fever, but is pregnant! The fever is causing the mother to go into premature labor. Will Dr. Pol be able to deliver the calf before it’s too late? Then, he treats a rabbit with a bloody ear, a result of mites.
The Incredible Dr. Pol: All Vets Are Off
Premieres Saturday, September 8, at 10 p.m. ET/PT
It’s spring, the busiest time of year at the clinic. For Dr. Pol, that means long and tiring days. In order to keep things on track, he and his team have decided it is time to search for another veterinarian. Dr. Pol, his son Charles and a student from Iowa State who is shadowing Dr. Pol for the day head out to check on a downed cow at a nearby farm. After injecting the cow with calcium and phosphorus, the three go to a local breeder and trainer of racehorses to ensure that his animals are in good health for breeding. It’s all in a day’s work for the Pol gang.
The Incredible Dr. Pol: Down & Derby
Premieres Saturday, September 15, at 10 p.m. ET/PT
Facing a new challenge every day, Dr. Pol has a surprise today — a hairless Holstein calf from a dairy farm. It doesn’t have any hair, its ears are smaller than normal and its teeth are deformed. Dr. Pol gives the 3-day-old calf a shot of vitamin A in hopes of replacing the vitamin deficiency. Will the calf survive? Then, a dog has a bruise filled with blood that Dr. Pol must burst, then flush with peroxide. Charles and Dr. Pol head out to check on a sick horse that hasn’t been very active lately. Dr. Pol gives the horse a cortisone shot to get it back to its normal state.
The Incredible Dr. Pol is produced by National Geographic Television for Nat Geo WILD. For National Geographic Television, executive producers are Geoff Luck, Diane DeStafano and Christopher Butler. For Nat Geo WILD, executive producer is Jenny Apostol, and executive vice president and general manager is Geoff Daniels

Paul Weller to Perform in L.A.
Plus special guest
Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings
Paul Weller will perform at The Greek Theatre, LA in support of his latest release Sonik Kicks on Friday, October 19th with special guest Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings. Tickets go on sale this Saturday at 10:00AM PST.
There are very few artists who’ve enjoyed the kind of success and influence over four decades that Paul Weller has. Even to this day he has been on a never-ending creative peak and retains a constant critical high, continuing to push boundaries from one day to the next. Paul Weller has had six era-defining albums with The Jam, five with The Style Council and eleven as a solo artist. That’s a lot of classic albums to milk on the nostalgia circuit, but, Paul Weller is not like other artists. He doesn’t want to look back: that’s not his way. He is only concerned with the here and now.
“Of course I’m proud of what I’ve done,” says Paul, “but I’m interested in what’s next. I want to be relevant now, in 2012. I’ve done my bit for the past. I’ve only ever been about what’s next, really, and I’ll be that way until I keel over.”
The UK’s number 1 selling album, Sonik Kicks, is the follow-up to 2010’s Mercury Music Prize nominated Wake Up The Nation and was recorded as usual in Weller’s own Black Barn Studios in Ripley, Surrey, with co-producer Simon Dine and trusted engineer Charles Rees. Paul enlisted musician friends such as Noel Gallagher, Graham Coxon and Aziz Ibrahim to help out on Sonik Kicks – often playing any instrument other than that which they are famous for – as well members of his touring band, including long-serving lieutenant Steve Cradock, with Weller himself also playing just about every instrument. His wife Hannah sings with Paul on “Study In Blue,” while his daughter Leah and youngest son Mac join him on the final “Be Happy Children."
Paul Weller will also be the musicial guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live on October 18th.
Tickets will be available at The Greek Theatre box office, online at Ticketmaster.com, at all Ticketmaster outlets or charge-by-phone at (800) 745-3000. All dates, acts and ticket prices subject to change without notice. A service charge is added to each ticket price.

New Pet Boys
New from '80s-Fave, The Pet Shop Boys
Pet Shop Boys’ new album Elysium will be released on Sept. 18, 2012 via Astralwerks, and was preceded by the single “Winner” on Aug. 7, 2012.
Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe recorded Elysium earlier this year in Los Angeles, the first time they have recorded an album in the U.S. They co-produced the record with US producer Andrew Dawson, who has won three Grammys for his work with Kanye West.
The album track “Invisible” was recently made available online, accompanied by a film made by renowned Los Angeles artist/film-maker Brian Bress.
Elysium features twelve new songs which display a warm, deep electronic sound, and includes orchestral arrangements by Joachim Horsley, Andrew Dawson and Ben Leathers. Backing vocals are provided on many of the tracks by veteran singers Oren, Maxine and Julie Waters (whose long career spans sessions with The Jackson Five to Adele), and singer/songwriter James Fauntleroy.
Pet Shop Boys said: “It was inspiring to make an album in Los Angeles, and to work with a producer from a different musical genre, who has brought a new dimension to our music”.
The album will be available in standard CD, digital download, and limited edition double CD where the bonus disc contains an instrumental mix of the album. The album has also received special mastering for the iTunes version.
The single “Winner” is available on limited CD (with 3 bonus tracks), limited 12”, and as two digital bundles (including bonus tracks and remixes). “Winner” is available on iTunes.

More on Los Lonely Boys and Rockpango
Can anything even more magical happen in the already charmed career of Los Lonely Boys? You bet. It’s called Rockpango, their first self- produced long player on their own LonelyTone/Playing In Traffic Records. And yeah, it’s magical indeed.
At least as magical — and maybe more so — as debuting in 2003 with a multi-chart gold single, selling millions of albums, winning a Grammy, racking up reams of critical acclaim, opening for The Rolling Stones, and many more accomplishments for the Texican rock’n’roll trio of brothers. Plus playing and recording with such legends as Willie Nelson and Carlos Santana, associations that give a strong hint at what’s at work here on Rockpango.
After proving themselves one of the most stunning and wonderful musical success stories of the last decade, Los Lonely Boys are now carving out their legend with their fourth studio album. Even though the band has already shown they can “up the ante with greater musicianship and confidence” (People) every time out, on Rockpango they heighten the trajectory, open up their sound, and show what flourishing maturity feels like from these veteran yet still young and burgeoning musical talents.
Rockpango is a spirit and sound coined by Los Lonely Boys that takes the next step from fandango (a beat of loving celebration) and then huapango (another infectious Latin rhythm that gets the fiesta cooking) to a full-scale Tex-Mex American roots rock party galore. Bursting out of the gate with the simmering and slinky “American Idle” that scans today’s tough economic times, and wrapping up 10 tracks later with the fierce and fiery assertion that love is the answer on “Believe,” Los Lonely Boys look at the big picture around us with the concerns and continuing faith that come with well-grounded adulthood.
Their ever-expanding musical vision fills the set with new facets that further reveal the group’s already notable artistic diversity. “16 Monkeys” is a delightfully funky slice of infectious neo-bohemian wit and wordplay, while orchestration by the Tosca String Quartet adds classic rock-pop sophistication on the achingly beautiful “Road To Nowhere” and the Beatle-esque gem “Smile.” And they fuse deep blues with a hip-hop twist on “Porn Star,” which includes a razor-sharp rap at the tail end by Kush, one of their Texas extended family relations.
They soar on “Fly Away,” rip it up to percolating Latin beats on “Love In My Veins” and “Baby Girl,” and reassert their mastery of the classic music that influences them as demonstrated on their recent 1969 EP. They deliver ‘60s style blues-rockers on the rousing title tune and powerfully loping “Change The World” — two more slices of their spot-on social commentary and consciousness.
The trademark Los Lonely Boys genetic vocal blend is deeper, richer, more fluent and confident than ever. The rhythms are utterly irresistible as well as flush with smart syncopation and muscular drive, abetted on some tracks by tour percussionist Carmelo “Melo” Torres. The brothers’ songwriting skills stamp indelibility on every winning number. And Henry Garza goes even beyond what Guitar World hails as being a “guitarist with chops out his ass who doesn't care about chops [and] just opens up and plays.” Joined by veteran Austin player Riley Osbourn on keyboards, Los Lonely Boys deliver and more on Rockpango.
“I’m super proud of it,” says JoJo Garza, bassist and middle brother in the triumvirate. “It’s just progress, maturation and growth. Growing up, being older, seeing the world we’re living in. It’s also touching base with home.”
Los Lonely Boys tale to date is already the stuff legends are made of: Playing behind their father as kids in cantinas and honky-tonks. Moving to Nashville in their teens to try to win a record deal. Returning to their native Texas, where the brothers made their bones on the club scene as a live act. Releasing their self-titled debut, which goes double platinum, and penning a #1 radio hit in “Heaven.”
Two more stellar studio albums followed: Sacred (2006) and Forgiven (2008). In 2009, they cut 1969, an EP that leaps back four decades to reveal how the group’s roots extend well past their birthdates on songs by The Beatles, Santana, The Doors, Buddy Holly and Tony Joe White. 2010 brought about the release of Keep On Giving: Acoustic Live! a snapshot of their recent acoustic tour.
So after all that, what’s left but to meet the new decade with the great leap forward, upward, outward and onward of Rockpango? “It was just time to grow and change,” explains JoJo. “But not change too much. It’s kind of like a tree. A tree doesn’t actually change much as it grows. It gets taller, grows more branches, gets thicker and stronger.
“I think it’s one of our best if not our best,” he adds. “We took the ball and I think we scored a touchdown.”
And after eight years of championship seasons, Rockpango paves the way for Los Lonely Boys to enter the rock’n’roll pantheon of legendary musical artists while also remaining true to themselves. “We’re still Lonely Boys,” JoJo insists, chuckling in agreement that they are also now Los Lonely Men who have truly come of age on their latest. “We’re still family, we’re still three brothers, we’re still doing what the good Lord has blessed us with, and that’s singing and playing for people who really want to listen.”

Los Lonely Boys' Rockpango |

History's Vikings
New History Channel Scripted Series
Vikings Announces More Cast Members
History Channel announced additional casting for its new scripted series, Vikings, including Travis Fimmel (The Beast, Baytown Outlaws) as Ragnar, the first great Viking leader, a man of both history and myth; Jessalyn Gilsig (Glee, Heroes, CSI: NY, Nip/Tuck, Friday Night Lights, Somewhere Slow) as Siggy, Earl Haraldson’s beautiful wife; Gustaf Skarsgard (The Way Back) as Floki, a close friend of Ragnar’s who is an eccentric jokester yet an inventive, creative boat-builder; Clive Standen (Camelot, Robin Hood) as Rollo, Ragnar’s excessive, cruel cousin; and Katheryn Winnick (Stand Up Guys, A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III, Bones, Love and Other Drugs) as Lagertha, Ragnar’s first wife and famous shield maiden who often fights alongside him.
Johan Renck (Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead) and Ken Girotti (Rescue Me, Law & Order: Criminal Intent) are set to direct multiple episodes of the series. The announcement was made by Nancy Dubuc, President and General Manager, History Channel and Lifetime Networks.
They join previously announced Golden Globe® Award winner and Emmy® Award nominated actor Gabriel Byrne (In Treatment, Usual Suspects, Millers Crossing) who will star as Earl Haraldson, the most important local ruler in Ragnar’s district, and George Blagden (Les Miserables, Wrath of the Titans) who will play Athelstan, an Anglo-Saxon monk captured by Ragnar on his first raid on England.
Vikings will be a series high on adventure, exploration, conflict, warfare and bloodshed – for these were extreme times – but, at its heart, it will also be a family saga. It follows the adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok, a historical figure, and the greatest hero of his age – and the gripping sagas of Ragnar’s band of Viking brothers and his family – as he rises to become King of the Viking tribes.
Ragnar Lothbrok (Fimmel) is based upon the real-life Viking leader who literally exploded out of Scandanavia and onto the world stage in the 8th Century. A young Norwegian farmer with a wife and family, Ragnar is deeply frustrated by the unadventurous policies of his local chieftan, Earl Haraldson (Byrne), who continues to send his Vikings raiders east every summer, to the Baltic states and Russia, whose populations are as materially poor as themselves. Lagertha (Winnick) is the first wife of Ragnar’s and their marriage is a love-match. Ragnar was first attracted to Lagertha when she came to fight for a local Norwegian ruler against an invading Sweden. Floki (Skarsgard), based partly on the Norse god Loki, is an impish character and ship builder who designs and builds the prototype of the new generation of Viking ships which can sail across the open ocean but also up the shallowest of rivers. He is a design genius and he allows Ragnar to fulfill his dreams of sailing west and discovering new lands and new civilizations. Siggy (Gilsig) is Earl Haraldson's beautiful wife and an enigmatic character. She performs her duties impeccably and with style, but she may not be completely loyal to her husband. Rollo (Standen) is Ragnar’s cousin and initially one of his closest friends, involved in his early raids. But soon becomes jealous of his fame and success.
Created and written by Michael Hirst – one of the premier historical story-tellers in the industry (Academy-Award winning film Elizabeth; and the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated series The Tudors), Michael serves as Executive Producer along with Morgan O’Sullivan of World 2000 (The Count of Monte Cristo; The Tudors), John Weber of Take 5 Productions (The Tudors; The Borgias), Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer, James Flynn (The Tudors; The Borgias) and Sheila Hockin (The Tudors; The Borgias).
Vikings is an international Irish/Canadian co-production being co-produced by World 2000 and Take 5 Productions. History Channel will broadcast domestically. MGM Television will bring Vikings to the global audience, serving as the international distributor outside of Ireland and Canada. Vikings is produced in association with Shaw Media, and the series will air on History Television in Canada. Nancy Dubuc, Dirk Hoogstra, and Julian P. Hobbs will serve as the executives on behalf of History Channel.
The series will be filmed at Ashford Studios, a newly built studio facility in Ireland. Ireland has been home not only to such acclaimed recent TV dramas as The Tudors and Camelot, but also to treasured feature films such as Braveheart, My Left Foot, Excalibur, Barry Lyndon and The Spy Who Came in From the Cold. All post production, visual effects, sound design and music composition will take place in Canada.
Travis Fimmel is managed by Management 360, agent is Paradigm and attorney is AJ Brandenstein from Sloan, Offer, Weber & Dern. Katheryn Winnick is repped by Gersh, Alchemy Entertainment and attorney Jeff Bernstein. Clive Standen is repped by Gersh and Independent Talent Group.

New Van Morrison
Van Morrison |
Van Morrison returns to Blue Note Records for a new studio album ‘Born To Sing: No Plan B’ to be released on October 2, 2012. Morrison previously released the Grammy-nominated ‘What’s Wrong With This Picture?’ on Blue Note in 2003.
Van says: "With most record companies being so corporate I am happy to be working with Don Was and the team at Blue Note. To have such a creative music person as the head of my recording label assures me that all the effort taken to write and record this new album will be rewarded with a music-based focus and marketing approach. I look forward to many recording projects with Don and Blue Note."
