A Model History
Modelinia.com has launched the History of Models (www.modelinia.com/timeline), where viewers can see where the hottest models of yesterday and today got their start.
History of Models is an interactive time line, spanning 80 years and traces the evolution of models throughout history.

Twelve-Part Series Brings To Life The Epic Journey Of Our Nation Coming In 2010
HISTORY™ has greenlit production on a groundbreaking initiative of epic proportions, a 12-part series called, America The Story Of Us, it was announced today by Nancy Dubuc, EVP/GM, History. America The Story Of Us, coming in 2010 from acclaimed, Emmy Award winning producer/director Jane Root, is an exuberant, unprecedented look at America – how events, small and large, are intrinsically linked to the taming of the wilderness, leading us from the frontier to 21st Century cities, from the Mississippi to the moon, from Jamestown to 9/11 up to present day. America The Story Of Us will move though time and space linking key events, people and locations, capturing the vast sweep of American history.
The series tells the extraordinary story of how America was invented, looking at the moments where technology overcame the environment - from the rigors of linking the continent by transcontinental roads and railways - the internet of its day - to triumphing over vertical space from steel structured buildings to putting a man on the moon. This is history with roots in the physical world: wilderness, animals, weather, the sea. America The Story Of Us is also a story of conflict – Indian wars, slavery, the revolutionary war that birthed the nation, the civil war that divided it and the great world wars that shaped its future. The series is an immersive look at the forces - the people, places and things that created this most astounding country. It’s a tough and thrilling adventure.
“There has never been a time when people are thinking so fervently and passionately about History. Now is the moment to tell the most epic, essential and groundbreaking story of America in a new way for a new generation,” says Dubuc. “AMERICA THE STORY OF US is not only the biggest project HISTORY has ever undertaken, it is the definitive event of the genre, underlining History’s ownership. This series is bigger than us, it is far broader than TV and we are thrilled to embark on this journey. With this series, we will watch America literally grow before our eyes, as we celebrate the individual stories, the people and events, and the incredible landscape that have become the America of today.”
Each hour of the series will help answer pertinent questions while exploring key events, interspersed with interviews from top flight historians. Beginning with a sense of the wild vastness that was America as the first colonists arrived, and with unprecedented CGI technology, viewers will see villages become towns; the spread of habitation and forest clearance from stockades, along river valleys to inland hamlets; a tree- covered Manhattan, with Europeans clinging to the tip of New Amsterdam, behind the slave-built wall of Wall Street. There will be vast herds of buffalo making their way across the plains, railway tracks slowly crossing the Rockies.
These stories will be told in the immediate and present tense, through drama-documentary powered by narration, visualized in the moment as never before – this is history before it knows it is history.
Says Dubuc, “A complete television history of America has not been attempted since Alistair Cooke in the 1970s. This is a new kind of landmark television. This will be a national television event.”
America The Story Of Us is produced for HISTORY by Nutopia, a new production company started by Jane Root, former President of Discovery Channel. Prior to that Jane ran BBC2, and was a founder of the production company Wall to Wall Television. Jane Root is Executive Producer and Ben Goold is Series Showrunner. Comedy superstar Martin Short (seen above as his "Jiminy Glick" character with Degeneres) has signed on to host a showcase from TBS Presents A “Very Funny” Festival: Just For Laughs,” joining Ellen DeGeneres and David Alan Grier in presenting TBS televised specials from the premiere Chicago event. The shows will be taped during the Festival, which takes place Wednesday, June 17 – Sunday, June 21. They will air the following weekend on TBS, with Let Freedom Hum – An Evening of Comedy Hosted by Martin Short premiering Friday, June 26; Ellen’s Bigger Longer and Wider Show, presented by DeGeneres, premiering Saturday, June 27; and Comedy You Can Believe In with David Alan Grier premiering Sunday, June 28.
“These three TBS television specials will allow us to extend the Festival’s reach to the entire country,” said Dennis Adamovich, senior vice president and general manager of comedy festivals for TBS. “We’re proud to have Martin Short, Ellen DeGeneres and David Alan Grier presenting these showcases and are looking forward to the amazing performances they bring to the stage.”
Let Freedom Hum – An Evening of Comedy Hosted by Martin Short will be taped at The Vic Thursday, June 18, at 7 p.m. (CT). Short, who became a household name after successful runs on SCTV and Saturday Night Live, will perform his own comedy, as well as introduce an outstanding slate of comedians:
· John Pinette, a Just For Laughs favorite, has played at Just For Laughs Festivals and toured with the company across Canada. He also scored acclaim for his Broadway run as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray.
· Kathleen Madigan, an American Comedy Award recipient for Best Female Stand-Up, has been featured on Last Comic Standing and is a regular guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
· Greg Giraldo is a former lawyer who turned to a life of comedy. He is best known as the top roaster on Comedy Central Roasts.
· Tom Papa, a New Jersey native, is the star of Jerry Seinfeld’s new reality show The Marriage Refs and regularly appears as an opening act on Seinfeld’s live tours. He is also a field reporter for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
· Jeremy Hotz is a Canadian actor-comedian and Just For Laughs favorite with some of the largest-grossing tours across Canada. He’s had numerous specials on Canadian television and The Comedy Network, as well as appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Show with David Letterman.
Comedy You Can Believe In with David Alan Grier, which is scheduled to be taped Friday, June 19, at 7 p.m. (CT) at The Vic, will feature Grier performing his own stand-up and introducing an all-star roster of comedians. The following are scheduled to perform:
· Bruce Bruce is an Atlanta-born comedian and commercial spokesman who has appeared on Comedy Central Presents and BET’s Comic View, as well as in the movies Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector and Cloud 9.
· Jo Koy is one of a select few comedians to have received a standing ovation after a performance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He was recently featured in his own Comedy Central special, Don’t Make Him Angry.
· Mark Curry, who is best known as a star of the ABC sitcom Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, has appeared in his own Comedy Central stand-up special and hosted Showtime at the Apollo for three years.
· Aries Spears has been a regular cast member of the late-night series MADtv and counts among his other credits such shows as A Different World and movies like Malcolm X.
· Marina Franklin is emerging as one of the hottest comedians in the comedy scene today, with such notable appearances as Chapelle’s Show, Last Comic Standing and Girls Behaving Badly.
Ellen’s Bigger Longer and Wider Show, presented by Ellen DeGeneres, will blow the roof off The Chicago Theatre Wednesday, June 17, at 7 p.m. (CT) with a variety show featuring live music, dancers and unique specialty acts. The show, the third variety-style show DeGeneres has presented for TBS, will be produced by Telepictures Productions, with Mary Connelly, Ed Glavin and Andy Lassner, whose credits include DeGeneres’ Emmy®-winning talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, serving as executive producers. Acts for the show will be announced at a later date.
TBS Presents A “Very Funny” Festival: Just For Laughs will bring together the biggest names in comedy, including George Lopez, Lisa Lampanelli, Russell Peters, Jimmy Fallon, Bill Engvall and Louis CK. Among the many events slated for the Festival are live performances by comedy headliners, a showcase of alternative comedy at the Lakeshore Theater, a series of performances by local Chicago talent and a film festival at the Gene Siskel Film Center of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. A special kickoff event on Tuesday, June 16, at the Music Box Theatre, will honor the Chicago-born filmmaker/actor Harold Ramis with a Lifetime Achievement Award, followed by a special screening of Ramis’ eagerly anticipated comedy Year One, starring Jack Black (School of Rock) and Michael Cera (Juno).
Excitement for the Festival has kicked into high gear, with Ellen’s Bigger Longer and Wider Show, presented by Ellen DeGeneres, already sold out; a performance by Jimmy Fallon sold out; and three performances of George Lopez: Tall, Dark and Chicano sold out, with a fourth show added.

Sheen and Rock & Roll Religion's Signature Line Of Casual Shirts, DaVinci Collection by Charlie Sheen, Sold Exclusively at Nordstrom
Highest paid TV-star Charlie Sheen, and Christopher Wicks, designer and owner Rock & Roll Religion have finalized a deal to sell the signature line of retro shirts at Nordstrom retailers nationwide. The collection, which features Sheen's iconic short sleeved, button- up shirts officially launched at Magic Las Vegas on February 17, 2009 and will be available this month.
DaVinci clothing is a California made line of casual shirts, reminiscent of the rockabilly culture born in the 1950's. Wicks designs other popular brands such as English Laundry, Fender: The Clothing Collection and The Jimi Hendrix Experience.
"The launch of DaVinci Collection by Charlie Sheen has been really exciting thus far," said Sheen. "I am happy the designs have been well received and am looking forward to taking the next step with the line and Christopher Wicks. I feel people are really drawn to the line for its comfort, quality and vintage inspired look and I hope we have much success with it at Nordstrom."

Made of cotton, rayon/acetate or rayon/polyester blends, pieces are manufactured from the original designs of the 50's, 60's and 70's.
Sheen and Wicks' collection currently focuses on short sleeved, button-up, casual shirts with plans to expand to additional products. Retail price points range from $59.00-$79.00.

Royal Pains Premieres 4 June
USA’s premiere of Royal Pains, the network's newest original scripted series, bows on Thursday, June 4 at 10/9c followed by 11 weekly one-hour episodes of the drama. Advancing the Thursday night block on USA, the series debut will immediately follow the Season 3 premiere of Burn Notice (in its new time slot 9/8c).
Royal Pains centers on a young E.R. doctor who, after being wrongly blamed for a patient's death, moves to the Hamptons and becomes the reluctant "doctor for hire" to the rich and famous. When the attractive administrator of the local hospital asks him to treat the towns less fortunate, he finds himself walking the line between doing well for himself and doing good for others.
Andrew Lenchewski ("UC: Undercover") wrote the pilot and serves as co-executive productive. The show is executive produced by Michael Rauch ("Love Monkey"), as well as Rich Frank ("Comanche Moon"), Paul Frank ("Comanche Moon") and Jeff Kwatinetz ("Big Momma's House") from Prospect Park. John Rogers ("Hide & Seek") also serves as co-executive producer. Jace Alexander (Burn Notice, "Warehouse 13") directed the pilot and will serve as co-executive producer on the series. Royal Pains films entirely in New York (Long Island and Brooklyn) and at locations around The Hamptons.
Royal Pains stars Mark Feuerstein ("What Women Want," "In Her Shoes," "Good Morning, Miami"), Paulo Costanzo ("Road Trip"), Jill Flint ("Gossip Girl") and Reshma Shetty ("30 Rock"). The pilot features guest appearances by Campbell Scott ("Six Degrees") and Christine Ebersole ("Saturday Night Live"). Royal Pains is the first original series from Universal Cable Productions for USA.
In the pilot, we meet Dr. Hank Lawson (Feuerstein), a handsome, smart and talented doctor who seems to have it all ... thriving career, beautiful fiancée and a swank NYC apartment. With one fateful and principled decision in the ER, Hank loses it all and is blacklisted from the prestigious medical community he once owned. Months later, single and down and out on his luck, Hank finds himself in the Hamptons after being coaxed by his younger brother (Costanzo) to head out to the east end of Long Island. While there, they crash a party at a mega-mansion on the beach, where Hank must jump into action when a guest requires medical attention that only he is able to diagnose after the current house doctor fails and nearly kills the young lady. The next morning, word of the hot doctor has already spread like wildfire and he is summoned to another mansion and another and another. Local hospital administrator Jill (Jill Flint) is all too happy to have Hank take her high-maintenance patients off her hands. With help from Divya (Shetty), who begs to become his physician's assistant, Hank's career is revived, albeit changed from the way he once knew it, and he is not thrilled.
