Studio Soma, opened in 2005 by international fitness expert and celebrity trainer Thalia Thomas, offers a wide variety of Pilates and dance equipment and classes and is now located in a newly renovated space.
The most popular class is SomaSculpt: “I developed Soma Sculpt because I wanted to somehow offer a fast and effective way for people to lose weight, tone and sculpt their body without having to climb up a canyon or pretend to work out on a treadmill at the gym” says Thomas. SomaSculpt is a way to adapt Pilates exercises traditionally done on a mat and Pilates apparatus, and add weights and body bars for muscle sculpting and weight- loss. There are also private and semi-private classes available in addition to the group classes.

According to Thomas, a trio combination that works: Cardio, Pilates and Diet.
- Cardio should be done three to four times a week with intervals. The body needs intervals so during the low levels of cardio the body has a chance to dump what it brought up to the surface during the high levels of cardio. Cardio can be running, spinning, dance, aerobics etc. Each cardio session should be 30 to 45 minutes in length. Cardio burns calories
- Pilates mat work is key for strengthening the abs and making them flat! Pilates will also give you long lean lines and firm your buttocks and thighs while stretching your muscles. Pilates makes you lose inches.
- Diet will help you feel better about yourself and give you more energy. The more energy you have the more calories you will burn and the more weight you will lose.
