TV Land's Mother’s Day-themed episode of “Happily Divorced,” starring Fran Drescher and guest-starring Rosie O’Donnell airs Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 10:30 pm ET/PT.
Fran (Drescher) looks to spend quality time with her mother, Dori (Rita Moreno), after Fran forgets to make Mother’s Day reservations at her mom's favorite restaurant.
Rosie O’Donnell plays Katie, a friend from Fran’s past who longs to have her own mother back. Both Drescher and O’Donnell have talked openly about their relationships with their mothers, and how they influenced who they are today.
TV Land also airs the annual Mother’s Day marathon, and this year, it features "Everybody Loves Raymond"s' mom, Marie Barone (Doris Roberts). The Marie-centric “Everybody Loves Raymond” marathon airs Sunday, May 13, 2012 from 9 pm to 11:30 pm ET/PT.
“Happily Divorced” stars and is inspired by the real-life story of Fran Drescher (“The Nanny”), and revolves around Fran, a Los Angeles florist who finds out after 18-years of marriage that her husband is gay. Unable to sell their house due to the current economy, Fran and her gay ex-husband Peter (John Michael Higgins, “Best in Show”) continue to live together happily divorced as they both re-enter the dating world.
“Happily Divorced” also stars Tichina Arnold (“Everybody Hates Chris”) as her best friend Judi; Rita Moreno (“OZ”) and Robert Walden (“All The President’s Men”), as Fran’s parents Glen and Dori. Valente Rodriguez (“George Lopez”) is Cesar, her flower shop employee. The series, filmed in front of a live audience, was recently picked up for 12 additional episodes for its second season, set to air later this year.
