Aaron Neville, Keith Richards Colaborate

New Aaron Neville Features Keith Richards

Aaron Neville, Don Was and Keith Richards

Iconic soul/R&B vocalist Aaron Neville has announced a deal with EMI’s Blue Note Records and will release a full-length album this fall. The record, produced by Keith Richards and Blue Note Records President Don Was, is a collection of classic material from the doo-wop era. “Aaron Neville is one of the most expressive and soulful artists of all time...it's such a thrill to hear him sing,” Was says. “His vocals have a way of reaching into your heart and stirring something really deep inside. It's a huge honor to welcome him to Blue Note Records and to be involved, along with the legendary Keith Richards, in the production of this album.”

All of the tracks were hand-picked by Neville himself as they are songs that have remained close to his heart since he was a child. “When I was a kid, doo-wop was like medicine to me,” Neville explains. “I didn’t care what else was goin’ on in the world as long as I could sing along with Pookie Hudson and The Spaniels, The Flamingos, The Clovers, Sonny Til and The Orioles, Clyde McPhatter—I was like a kid in a candy store.”

A stellar group of session players was assembled to lay down these tracks. In addition to Keith Richards on guitar other musicians include: Greg Leisz on guitar (Beck, Sheryl Crow, Bob Dylan, Ryan Adams), Benmont Tench on organ (founding member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), George G. Receli on drums (Bob Dylan, James Brown), and Tony Scherr on bass (Bill Frisell, Norah Jones, Rufus Wainwright). Richards sheds some light on the atmosphere in the studio as he explains, "This was a dream session. The band fell right into the groove and Aaron sang like an angel. It was an honor!”

During Neville’s five decade recording career, he has displayed a chameleon-like ability to perform, collaborate and contribute to a wide range of genres. From the funky soul and R&B cuts with the Neville Brothers to a triple platinum, Grammy winning duet with Linda Ronstadt in 1989, “Don’t Know Much” (off an album the duo received two Grammys for), to the title track of 1993’s The Grand Tour which put Neville on the Country charts for the first time, to his several Gospel records including his most recent project, I Know I’ve Been Changed in 2010.

New Pet Shop Boys

New Pet Shop Boys

Now

Then

Astralwerks will release the new Pet Shop Boys album entitled Elysium on September 18, 2012.   Recorded in Los Angeles, the album was co-produced by Pet Shop Boys and engineer/producer, Andrew Dawson, who has won three Grammy awards for his work with Kanye West.

A sneak peek of the album track “Invisible” may be viewed as a short film by renowned artist/filmmaker Brian Bress at www.petshopboys.co.uk or on VEVO.  Elysium was recorded earlier this year during the three months Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe spent in Los Angeles.

Producer Andrew Dawson recently said:  “It was really exciting for me to work with Pet Shop Boys - the breadth of their career has been phenomenal. They both have incredible ideas and I’ve definitely learned a few tricks from them on making records”.

The Pet Shop Boys added “we wanted to make this album in a different environment. Despite frequent visits there we have never made an album in Los Angeles. Working there with Andrew Dawson has enabled us to make a very fresh-sounding album.”

Like several tracks on Elysium, “Invisible” features backing vocals by veteran singers Oren, Maxine and Julie Waters whose long career spans sessions with The Jackson Five to Adele, and singer/songwriter James Fauntleroy.

Super Scoop on the Hottest Eyewear Trends!

BeansTalk had the honored pleasure of meeting and interviewing Sama designer Sheila Vance.
Here's the super scoop she gave us on what's HOT in eyewear trends.
Sheila Vance, Designer, Sama Eyewear

Q:What are the latest trends in eyewear?

A: Metal glasses are coming back strong and the newest trend is featuring them in palladium plated metal. Palladium is light, naturally white, durable and sensitive to skin. A touch of semi or precious stones gives a story and color to the eyewear. Rose gold and palladium plated metal frames makes the eyewear precious and luxurious.

Q: I want sunglasses like a celebrity. Which are your most popular with celebs? (Tell us which celeb wears which style).

A: Brad Pitt wore Sama's Black Onyx aviator frame which features rose gold metal with rose gold lenses.  There is also a onyx stone on the temple which made him ready for the red carpet at the cannes film  festival. Angelina Jolie recently has been spotted around the world in the Sama Gossip sunglass in black tortoise with colorful metal temples.  This medium size soft square shape is one of the more popular styles for our female celebrity fans. Additionally, Rhianna completed a summer beach look with Angie, a cat eye Loree Rodkin by Sama sunglass in a black/tortoise color. Sexy cat eye shapes is our focus for all plastic releases this year.

Q: What styles are considered classic/never-go-out-of-style?

A: Metal aviators for men and metal/plastic combo for women in classic lens shapes will always be a wardrobe staple. The Sama incognito collection is entirely timeless, showcasing classic shapes that will never go out of style.

Q: We have a big collection of sunglasses from the last decade. We don't want to be outre! What styles are definitely OUT?

A: Very futuristic sharp angular and shield frames

Q: Are there any tricks to finding a flattering pair of sunglasses, based on, say, age or styling or coloring or facial shape?

A: Stay away from very sharp bright colors , natural tones of brown, black, gray and warm colors are more flattering, a bit of a lift on the corner of the eye glasses makes it younger.  Choose frames that are larger in size not too small.  With lenses when they are  gradient, they are always very complimentary.

Q: Shelia, tell us about the new Magic Hour Collection. What was the inspiration for it? How did you come up with the name "Magic Hour?

A:  As the sun is nearest to the horizon, sunlight travels through the atmosphere in a fashion that reduces the intensity of light so the radiant glow of illumination comes from the indirect light in the sky. For a small window of time each day, a natural light with this soft and warm quality is truly at its most beautiful. This golden brilliance, is referred to as the “Magic Hour”, which is known around the globe as incomparably perfect, precious and pristine. This to me was the perfect name for a collection which reflects perfection and precision of high jewelry and the magnificent harmony between technology and design, creativity and craftsmanship, precious gemstones and metals.  The sexy, yet elegant shapes were inspired by strong, sophisticated, intelligent women living a modern lifestyle. Setting fashion trends and requires only the best of designs and quality.

Q: The Tresor frames are gorgeous. There's such intricate detail in the frame and choice of gemstones. What was the thinking behind the rose (?)  and [other colored] gold frames and the combination of gem colors?
A: These frames are introduced in gold and palladium and the stones were combined based on the influence of each stones characteristics.  Each stone brings a energy and power, for example the Pink Tourmaline's are viewed as possessing the power to promote emotional and physical healing, Citrine's promote self-confidence and success and retains no negativity and the Peridot's promote harmony and healing.

Summer Sandals

Summer Sandal Time

Here we are, deep in June, school's either out or almost out and we thought we'd bring out some very cute stylish, summer sandals. We won't say which pair(s) we own, but you can guess :).

Robert Clergerie's Austin
DV by Dolce Vita Otair "Flatform"

Steve Madden's Anngie

Tory Burch's Amanda Sandal
Stuart Weitzman's Alex Lo
Kate Spade's Becca Cork platform with gold leather twist.

Stuart Weitzman's Alex has been the go-to summer shoe of celebrities for more than a couple of years. Jennifer Aniston, Rachel Bilson, Eva Mendes and a host of other starlets were photographed wearing them. We can see why. They make legs long, are surprising comfortable, and are extremely versatile.

Watch Veep

We've been telling you about TV to watch, and we cannot let HBO's "Veep" go unacknowledged! We're not shy about how much we adore, admire and envy Julia Louis-Dreyfus (we were bummed when "The New Adventures of Old Christine" was canceled), and she is terrific in this series, which is hilarious and yes, brilliant. Someone knows of what they write (just as whoever writes "Episodes" knows that business backwards and forwards!).

Our New Favorite Show

WATCH THIS SHOW

We are loving a lot of TV right now (and we can't include "True Blood" in that, even though we're watching it, we find it very flawed). But we can't seem to get enough of Lena Dunham's HBO series "Girls." If you have HBO and On Demand you SO must catch up. We've watched every aired episode at least twice.

In character, HBO's Girls

In real life: actresses Zosia Mamet (dad is David), Jemima Kirke (dad is Free and Bad Company drummer Simon), Lena Dunham, Allison Williams (daughter of Brian).

The Killing: Must-See TV

The Best Show We Hope You're Watching
AMC's The Killing

From AMC's site: From writer, executive producer and series showrunner Veena Sud (Cold Case), The Killing is based on the wildly successful Danish television series Forbrydelsen and tells the story of the murder of a young girl in Seattle and the subsequent police investigation.

The Killing ties together three distinct stories around a single murder including the detectives assigned to the case, the victim's grieving family, and the suspects. Set in Seattle, the story also explores local politics as it follows politicians connected to the case. As the series unfolds, it becomes clear that there are no accidents; everyone has a secret, and while the characters think they've moved on, their past isn't done with them.

The Killing stars Mireille Enos (Big Love) as Sarah Linden, the lead homicide detective that investigates the death of Rosie Larsen; Billy Campbell (Once and Again) as Darren Richmond, Seattle's City Council President and now running for Mayor; Joel Kinnaman (Snabba Cash) as Stephen Holder, an ex-narc cop who joins the homicide division in the investigation to find Rosie's killer; Michelle Forbes (True Blood) as Rosie's mother, Mitch Larsen; and Brent Sexton (W., In the Valley of Elah) as Rosie's father, Stan Larsen. The pilot was directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster).

Filmed in Vancouver, The Killing is produced by Fox Television Studios and executive produced by Mikkel Bondesen (Burn Notice) for Fuse Entertainment. Fuse's Kristen Campo co-produces. AMC’s Joel Stillerman, senior vice president of original programming, production and digital content, Susie Fitzgerald, senior vice president of scripted development and current programming and Jason Fisher, senior vice president of production oversee production of the series for the network.
