Malibu, CA: Surfer Actors Beat Surfer Musicians in Tourney

That's Mark Ruffalo! After the women's final (Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) www.aspworldtour.com Women's World Championship Tour (WCT)) in Malibu, the Celebrity Surfbout was held. The surfing competition featured actors vs. musicians.

The actors won. Competitors included Dean Cain, a former TV "Superman" and "Clubhouse," Australian Simon Baker, star of the hit TV series "The Guardian" and the soon to be released movie "The Ring 2," Mark Ruffalo "13 going on 30" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," Brandon Williams "Shacking Up" with Fran Drescher Chris Pontius MTV's " Wild Boyz and Jackass", Eric Dane "Las Vegas" and Dominic Purcell "Blade: Trinity."

The tourney was held to highlight the ongoing efforts of local anti-ocean pollution group Heal The Bay.

The original inspiration for "Gidget," Kathy Kohner-Zuckerman, made a special appearance. She's the official patron of the Rip Curl Malibu Pro. Her surfing exploits at Malibu in the 1950s -- chronicled in a book writter by her father, Frederick Kohner, inspired a series of Hollywood movies that made surfing a cultural phenomena.
