Jessica Alba in Robyn Rhodes

This spring, Jessica Alba has been photographed frequently wearing Robyn Rhodes Jewelry. In the past few weeks, Alba has been spotted out and about wearing pieces from Robyn Rhodes' new spring collection. The collection is based around neutral colored stones. Alba enjoyed wearing the four pieces she purchased so much, she contacted Robyn Rhodes to pick out additional items.

Def Leppard/Journey Tour Extended

Def Leppard's and Journey’s US tour has been extended. Dates for the second leg have been announced. The tour will kick off on June 23, 2006 in Camden, NJ.

The bands--along with VH1 Classic and Live Nation-- had only announced a few short weeks ago that they were pairing up for a summer tour that would run from June until the end of August. Since then, the call for tickets has far surpassed all expectations, delighting and amazing promoters across the country.

Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen said, “This is what we were hoping for. We were thrilled with the initial ticket sales and now we can really get on it!”

"I'm looking forward to getting out there and kickin' ass," says Journey guitarist Neal Schon. “We're glad that our fans are excited about this tour, and I think both Journey and Def Leppard will gain some new fans. I'm especially looking forward to playing guitar with my good buddy Vivian Campbell."

“We’re thrilled with the way music fans have embraced this tour,” said Bruce Kapp Senior Vice President of Touring for Live Nation, the company producing the tour. “It’s clear from the way these shows are selling that the Def Leppard and Journey package is going to be one of the stand out hits of the summer.”

With more than 65 million albums sold worldwide, Def Leppard – Joe Elliott (vocals), Vivian Campbell (guitar), Phil Collen (guitar), Rick “Sav” Savage (bass) and Rick Allen (drums) – is one of the most continuously exciting and important forces in rock music. Over the course of their career, the band has produced a series of classic groundbreaking albums that set the sound for generations of music fans and artist, establishing them as Great Britain's premiere arena rock band. Their spectacular live shows filled with powerful melodic rock anthems have become synonymous with their name, and they are an institution in the touring industry as they continue to sell out arenas worldwide.

The band is hitting the road in support of Yeah! their 12th studio album, which is a clever tribute to the band’s musical heroes of the late 60’s and 70’s –The Kinks, Badfinger, T. Rex, David Bowie, Sweet, Roxy Music, Mott the Hoople, Free, Faces and Thin Lizzy. Scheduled for release on May 23, 2006 from Island/Ume, the album’s concept is one that the band had hoped to record for over 20 years and brilliantly merges the “Now” with the “Then.” The release comes hot on the heels of their Platinum- certified 2-CD hits package, Rock of Ages: The Definitive Collection.

In addition to the tour, Def Leppard will be performing on the Tonight Show’s summer concert series on May 23rd and will be saluted on VH1’s Rock Honors, airing on the channel on May 31st. Def Leppard was also recently honored in the U.S. by the RIAA with two prestigious Diamond Awards for their albums HYSTERIA and PYROMANIA. The Diamond Award recognizes sales of over 10 million, a feat not many bands and only a handful of British artists have been able to achieve (The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Eric Clapton).

Journey's legacy has spanned over 30 years with 19 U.S. releases, most recently the critically acclaimed GENERATIONS (Sanctuary Records, 2005). Four albums landed in the Top Ten of Billboard's "Top 200 Albums" chart, including 1981’s ESCAPE which reached #1. Overall they’ve sold over 75 million albums worldwide making them the 29th best-selling music group of all time. They were honored with a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last year. The band was founded in 1973 in San Francisco by Santana members Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie, with the assistance of Ross Valory, George Tickner and Prairie Prince. The current line-up—which has been together since 1998--includes Neal Schon (guitar), Ross Valory (bass), Jonathan Cain (keyboards), Steve Augeri (vocals) and Deen Castronovo (drums).

Fans of Neal Schon should check out SANTANA III: LEGACY EDITION (Columbia/Legacy, a division of Sony BMG Music Entertainment), which was released February 21. There they'll find his debut into the music world on this legendary album. The original first lineup of Santana recorded the band's first three albums for Columbia together before the leader dissolved the band in late-1971 and struck out in new directions. With the addition of 17-year old guitar prodigy Schon and percussionist/songwriter Coke Escovedo, they recorded the penultimate third album in February and June 1971, one of rock's defining masterpieces. SANTANA III: LEGACY EDITION, containing a new expanded edition of that album with four bonus tracks (three of them previously unissued studio recordings), and a second disc that presents-for the first time as it was heard by the audience-the band's historic one-hour closing set from the closing night (in the wee hours of the morning) of Bill Graham's Fillmore West on July 4, 1971.

Hilton in “Disguise”

Paris Hilton must not have remembered that she was wearing J&Company jeans that have her NAME embroidered on the inner thigh. Hilton was trying to be incognito with a dark colored wig, baseball cap and large sunglasses while at The Grove shopping Center with football star USC quarterback Matt Leinart (protecting his classmate – her boyfriend Stavros – apparently). Hilton is a huge fan of J&Company jeans and owns many different styles and washes.

Daughtry Goes Home

The American Idol phenomenon continued as the Top 4 finalists each performed two songs originally recorded by Elvis Presley. Last night, on a dramatic results show, it was revealed that Chris Daughtry received the fewest votes after Tuesday’s performance show, ending his quest to become the next American Idol. Daughtry, from McLeansville, NC, sang “Suspicious Minds” and “A Little Less Conversation.”

Next week, the excitement builds when the Final Three – Taylor Hicks, Katharine McPhee and Elliott Yamin – compete head to head on the live American Idol performance show Tuesday, May 16 (8:00-9:00 PM live ET/tape-delayed PT). Each contestant will sing three songs – one selected by famed producer Clive Davis, one by the IDOL judges and one of his or her own choosing – on the season’s penultimate performance show.

Tune in the following night to find out who will be in the season-finale showdown and who will go home on a special one-hour American Idol results show Wednesday, May 17 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.

Fourteen-time Emmy-nominated American Idol is created and executive-produced by Simon Fuller, founder of 19 Entertainment, Ltd.; and executive-produced by Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO, FremantleMedia North America, Inc.; Nigel Lythgoe, President, 19 Television; and Ken Warwick, Executive Producer, FremantleMedia North America, Inc.

BBC America's New Series Nets 2 Baftas

The Thick of It, BBC America's critically-acclaimed political satire, premiering Friday May 12, has won two Baftas (UK equivalent to the Emmys). Presented in London The Thick of It won Best Sitcom - beating out Ricky Gervais' Extras - and Best Comedy Performance for Chris Langham (who plays the hapless government minister Hugh Abbott and is seen, above, right).

It’s New If You Haven’t Seen It: Shows You Missed

On Tuesday, May 23rd, TV-philes across the country will rejoice with the launch of BrilliantButCancelled.com, a new broadband service from Bravo that celebrates the small screen's best-loved but short-lived series. The details of the initiative were announced today by Lauren Zalaznick, President, Bravo.

BrilliantButCancelled.com will be anchored by a critically-acclaimed line-up of some of television's most daring programs, described by Bravo as "too smart, too edgy or too hip for TV" when they hit the airwaves. Devotees of series including "the cancelled-before-it-ever-aired" "The Jake Effect" (starring Jason Bateman in a role that foreshadowed his character on "Arrested Development"), "EZ Streets" (starring Ken Olin in Paul Haggis' hard-hitting series about as an honest detective battling to save his job and reputation (see image, above left) and "Johnny Staccato" (featuring John Cassavetes as a jazz musician moonlighting as a private detective) will be able to see their "hard-to-find" favorites as streaming on demand options on the website.

Other series available on BrilliantButCancelled.com include: "Delvecchio," the predecessor to Steven Bochco's "Hill Street Blues" starring Judd Hirsch; "Gideon Oliver," starring Lou Gossett, Jr. as a Columbia professor obsessed with crime; "Touching Evil," the story of a detective who returns to work after a bullet passes through his head. Additional video content will include "Face to Face" interviews with television celebrities and creators from the Bravo, Trio, and NBC archives; "Celebrity Autobiography," where A-listers read from the autobiographies of their fellow celebrities.

"We have curated some of television's most extraordinary shows for this site," noted Zalaznick. "These are programs that pushed the TV envelope, so to speak, but never got the chance they deserved to prove their worth. The joy of this process is uncovering those little gems that failed to find their audience on TV and giving them back to viewers on demand."

Jason Klarman, SVP, Marketing and Brand Strategy, added: "What distinguishes this site from anything else on the Web is our brilliant but cancelled spin - we don't take ourselves too seriously and we think that fans of the brilliant but cancelled phenomenon will appreciate our combination of self-deprecating humor and shows that deserve a second chance."

On-Air

In an unusual twist of promotional support, the broadband premiere of "The Jake Effect" on Tuesday, May 23rd will be followed by an exclusive Thursday, May 25th airing of series episodes on Bravo's analog channel from 8:00 -11:00 pm ET/PT to help drive viewers to the new website. This reversal of television's traditional pattern of web supporting on-air launches is expected to generate added awareness of the site's launch.

And, in a further push toward a 360? promotional strategy, NBC Universal Cable mystery channel, Sleuth, will also drive to the site with a four episode marathon of "EZ Streets" on Sunday, May 28 from 4:00-8:00 pm ET/PT and 10:00 pm-2:00 am ET/PT.

In addition to streaming these innovative series, BrilliantButCancelled.com also plans exclusive editorial content that tracks the trends and trivia impacting the TV landscape including Critical Mass, a round-up of critical commentary about the previous night's TV shows; Back From the Dead, a look at stars of ill-fated shows who lived to see life on another series; The Anonymous Critic, a place where industry insiders can rant and rave about the fate and content of TV without fear of reprisal; Pop Autopsy, an exploration of shows that died and what went wrong; and Astro Cast, a place where real astrologers predict the future of TV personalities. In addition, BrilliantButCancelled.com provides visitors with an outlet to share their passion as well as their frustration about the world of television - from Insider/Outsider, a blog dedicated to presenting an all-TV focus as to what's hot and what's not, to Just Make it Stop, a blog that gives visitors a chance to play programming executive and put in their bid for what should be killed off and why.

iTUNES
And, beginning May 23rd, the following episodes featured on the BrilliantButCancelled.com site will be available to download via iTunes:

The Jake Effect (pilot episode)
Johnny Staccato: "Tempted"
Delvecchio: "Licensed to Kill"
Gideon Oliver: "Sleep Well, Professor Oliver"
Touching Evil: "K"
EZ Streets: "Every Dog Has Its Day"
EZ Streets: "One Acquainted With the Night"

DVD
In conjunction with the broadband launch, Universal Studios Home Entertainment will release two DVD collections based on the "Brilliant But Cancelled" initiative. Brilliant But Cancelled: EZ Streets revisits an edgy, innovative series from Academy Award-winning writer-director Paul Haggis (Crash, Million Dollar Baby) that delighted critics with its unique style of storytelling. Featuring the original two-hour pilot plus two episodes of the show critics deemed "simply too good for TV," Brilliant But Cancelled: EZ Streets stars Ken Olin ("thirtysomething"), Joe Pantoliano ("The Sopranos," The Matrix) and Jason Gedrick ("Boomtown") in a tale of greed and treachery told from three widely differing points of view. Brilliant But Cancelled: Crime Dramas features a compilation of some of TV's smartest detective shows that span 40 years of TV history: "Johnny Staccato," "Delvecchio," "Gideon Oliver" and "Touching Evil". Officer and a Gentleman, "Stargate SG-1"). Each DVD is priced at $19.98 SRP.

BrilliantButCancelled.com - Series Descriptions

"The Jake Effect" (NBC, 2003) This Jason Bateman and Greg Grunberg sitcom never made it to air. Bateman stars as a former attorney who begins a teaching career. Executive producer Jonathan Groff was former head writer for Conan and went on to work on the series "Ed." Two years after this stillborn precursor to "Arrested Development," Bateman went on to win a Golden Globe plus Emmy and SAG nominations for that critically acclaimed Brilliant But Cancelled show.

"EZ Streets" (CBS, 1996) Ken Olin, Jason Gedrick, Rod Steiger and Joe Pantoliano star in this critics' favorite that won the 1997 Television Critics Association Award for Program of the Year. After losing his partner and money in a drug bust, an honest detective joins a special Mafia task force to save his job and reputation. In 2005, writer Paul Haggis went on to win two Academy Awards - one for Best Film and one for Best Writer for "Crash."

"Johnny Staccato" (NBC,1959) Stars John Cassavetes. Set in NYC, this Brilliant But Cancelled series centered on jazz pianist Johnny Staccato, who supplemented his meager income as a jazz pianist by moonlighting as a private investigator. Striking noir score by renowned composer Elmer Bernstein (Emmy, Oscar, Golden Globe winner); Cassavetes went on to Oscar noms for his acclaimed indie films.

"Delvecchio" (CBS, 1977) Judd Hirsch starred in this Steven Bochco-produced, pre-"Taxi," pre-"Hill Street Blues" cop series. Both went on to win multiple Emmys.

"Gideon Oliver" (ABC, 1989) Louis Gossett Jr. stars as an anthropology professor at Columbia University who uses his knowledge of other cultures to solve crimes, aided by his daughter/assistant Zina. Gossett has won an Emmy, Oscar and Golden Globe. Features pre-"ER" performance by Eriq LaSalle. Based on Aaron Elkins' award-winning series of novels. Shot in exotic locales including the Caribbean, Central America, etc.

"Touching Evil" (USA, 2004) Stars Jeffrey Donovan and Vera Farmiga. Produced by Albert Hughes, of Hughes brothers fame ("Dead Presidents"); based on the acclaimed UK series of same name. Detective returns to work changed after surviving a nearly fatal gunshot wound to the head.

"Trinogomous" Relationship on Bravo

Bravo will premiere "Three of Hearts: A Post-Modern Family," a two-hour full-length feature documentary film special chronicling an untraditional "trinogamous" relationship. Produced by Bravo and Hibiscus Films' director Susan Kaplan, "Three of Hearts" is the real-life story of an extraordinary connection between two bisexual men and a heterosexual woman that transcends all relationship boundaries. "Three of Hearts" will make its national television debut on Friday, June 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT only on Bravo.

"Bravo is proud to be a part of a film that shakes up what society perceives as 'normal' and gives the viewer a discussion and thought provoking experience," said Frances Berwick, Senior Vice President, Programming and Production, Bravo. "This film is raw and honest and perfectly captures the hearts and souls of three people who chose to experience a very different type of long-term loving relationship."

Director Kaplan approached Sam Cagnina, Steven Margolin, and Samantha Singh nine years into their relationship and expressed her interest in following them through their trials and tribulations to give a real feel to a unique trend in dating. Intrigued by the possibility that true love could exist between two men and a woman, Kaplan raises the question of loving a sex or a person in this powerful documentary film that would take eight years to make.

This atypical love story begins when Sam Cagnina, the oldest son of a mafia hit man, falls in love with Steven while in his early twenties, a handsome 19-year old college student. Soon the charismatic Sam gets the idea to bring a woman into the relationship and when easygoing Steven agrees, they spend the next seven years dating and looking for a woman they could both fall in love with who would agree to live in a "trio" relationship. They know they have found that special someone else when they meet Samantha, a Toronto ex-pat struggling as an actress in New York City. Sam meets Samantha, and they fall in love. Samantha meets Steven and they fall in love too. The "trio," as they are affectionately called, begin their journey.

"Three of Hearts" catches up with Sam, Samantha and Steven after they are together for nine years and they find out that they are going to have a baby. The film explores this unique union as they negotiate their living arrangements, have children, and open one of the hottest wellness centers in New York City. It's character development at its best, and the viewer will ultimately learn about their families, friends and, of course, the sex. It's a remarkable voyage of self-discovery for this threesome and for the audience with whom they've shared their lives.

"Three of Hearts" is produced by Bravo and Hibiscus Films director/producer Susan Kaplan and executive producer David Friedson.

Episode one – Sharpe’s Rifles
Portugal 1809 - After saving the life of the future Duke of Wellington, Sergeant Richard Sharpe is rewarded with a promotion to Lieutenant. His first mission is to go behind enemy lines to locate a missing agent, James Rothschild, who carries badly needed funds for the British army. Sharpe is given command of the 95th Rifles under Captain Murray, but soon finds that they are an undisciplined bunch, and neither Murray nor the men of the Rifles are prepared to accept Sharpe's command as “proper” officers are not raised from the ranks. After Captain Murray is killed in a surprise French attack, Sharpe is left in sole command. Two Spanish allies, Major Blas Vivar and Comandante Teresa, offer to lead Sharpe to Rothschild at Casa Antiga. There is no sign of Rothschild upon arrival and Sharpe becomes increasingly suspicious of his Spanish companions. He discovers their real mission is to transport one of Spain’s holy relics to Torrecastro to inspire an uprising against the French. Sharpe’s Rifles is sponsored by American Honda Motor.
Sharpe’s Rifles premieres Saturday, May 27, 9:00 p.m. ET/10:00 p.m. PT.

Episode two – Sharpe’s Eagle
Spain 1809 - Colonel Sir Henry Simmerson arrives with his new regiment, the South Essex. Wellesley decides to keep in Simmerson's good graces by arranging for the South Essex to blow up the bridge at Valdelacasa. Aware that Simmerson is incompetent, Wellesley orders Sergeant Sharpe to see that the mission is a success in exchange for a promotion to Captain. Simmerson is infuriated to learn that Sharpe is not a gentleman and was raised from the ranks by Wellesley. In revenge, he orders Sharpe to train his men to fire three rounds a minute by nightfall, or they will be flogged as punishment for failure. Sharpe manages to succeed, which infuriates Simmerson even more. The following day, Simmerson orders Captain Lennox to lead the South Essex across the bridge in the attempt to chase away a small French patrol. However, an ambush by the French cavalry brings a rescue attempt with Sharpe in control. Will this mean further promotion and even more enemies? Sharpe’s Eagle is sponsored by OppenheimerFunds, Inc.
Sharpe’s Eagle premieres Saturday, June 3, 9:00 p.m. ET/10:00 p.m. PT.

Episode three – Sharpe’s Company
Spain 1812 - After victory at Ciudad Rodrigo, the Duke of Wellington sets his sights on Badajoz. Sharpe is reunited with his love, Teresa, and learns that he is the father of a baby girl — but he’s alarmed to learn the baby is in Badajoz. As new men arrive from England, Sharpe discovers his old nemesis, Obadiah Hakeswill, is among them. With his speciality of preying on soldiers while being servile towards the officers, Hakeswill was responsible for having Sharpe flogged for a crime he did not commit. After attempting to rape Teresa, Hakeswill realises her affection for the Sergeant and uses her in a wicked game to get back at Sharpe. With his captaincy in tatters, Sharpe's fears soon turn to the safety of Teresa and their baby daughter. Sharpe’s Company is sponsored by OppenheimerFunds, Inc.
Sharpe’s Company premieres Saturday, June 10, 9:00 p.m. ET/10:00 p.m. PT.

Bonnie Raitt Tours North America

Third North American Leg Of Tour Kicks Off On June
15th; KebMo scheduled To Open ; Raitt Performs On Late
Night with Conan OBrien June 27th

Road Tested was the apt title for longtime road
warrior Bonnie Raittt's 1995 live double album and
film, and the title is more than a catch phrase to the
nine-time Grammy winner its a way of life. For
every album she releases, the true test for Raitt is
how the songs come across live. In the case of her
latest CD, Souls Alike, her new material has elicited
resoundingly rave reviews. Raitt began her current
tour last October following the debut of Souls Alike
at #19 on the Billboard 200 and fans will be happy to
hear she doesnt plan to wrap it up anytime soon. In
fact, after a series of spring dates in the U.K. and
Europe, she'll embark on the third North American leg
of the tour on June 15th. And, in classic Raitt
fashion, shell be bringing along another one of her
favorite songwriters to open: Keb Mo.

Fellow Grammy-winning
singer/songwriter/guitarist,
Keb Mo will join Raitt
as her very Special Guest on the next swing of the
Souls Alike Tour. His highly anticipated eighth studio
album, SUITCASE, is slated for release June 13th on
the Epic/RED label. Raitt and
Keb Mo have performed
frequently on record and tours together, including his
recent guest appearance on Raitt's episode of VH1
Classic's new live concert series Decades Rock Live!
airing on the network throughout April and May. These
artists are thrilled to be working together again and
are planning some exciting duets for the upcoming
tour.

Raitt will play a series of U.S. festivals in June
before meeting up with
Keb Mo on June 20th in Atlanta,
GA. Tour highlights include a stop at Central Park's
Summer Stage in New York on June 28th and a show at
the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on September 9th.
Prior to the New York show, Raitt will perform on
Late Night with Conan OBrien on June 27th.

Raitt makes you love her, time and again, said the
Boston Herald in a recent live review. The New York
Times praised her "aching lyrical interpretations"
while Portland's Oregonian said "On every tune, she
radiated a warmth and elegance, a deep musical
sentience, that few singers can match, be it blues,
pop, soul or her own funky rock."

Billboard.com noted, Raitt's 19-song, 100-minute
[set ]was a testament to her enduring creative
vitality. She played seven songs from the
self-produced Souls Alike, three of them right off
the bat with the smooth 'n' slinky Love on One
Condition (written by keyboardist Jon Cleary), the
moody God Was in the Water which featured one of
Raitt's arrestingly supple slide guitar solos -- and
the anthemic I Will Not Be Broken.

I Will Not Be Broken, the album's first
single, was a Top 5 hit at AAA radio and earned Raitt
a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal
Performance. The follow-up single is I Don't Want
Anything To Change, a stark, fragile reflection on a
fading relationship written by Maia Sharp, Liz Rose
and Stephanie Chapman. (Sharp opened for Raitt on many
of last fall's dates.)

Raitt recently performed on CMT's
Crossroads with another songwriter whose work she
was an early champion of Lyle Lovett. Since the
release of Souls Alike, she has also appeared on The
Tonight Show With Jay Leno, "The Late Show With David
Letterman," "Good Morning America", CBS Sunday
Morning, VH1/VH1 Classic's "Decades Rock Live!" "The
View," The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Dr. Phil, The
Tavis Smiley Show and A&E's "Breakfast with the
Arts." She also performed on the 48th Annual GRAMMY
Awards telecast in February.

While on the road this summer, she will be a presenter
at the 2006 Rhythm and Blues Foundation's Pioneer
Awards in Philadelphia on June 29th. (Raitt is a
co-founder of the organization, which works to improve
royalties, financial conditions and recognition for
R&B pioneers.)

The upcoming North American tour dates are listed
below. Tickets are already on sale for many of these
initial shows; additional dates will be announced
shortly. Premium seats and meet-and-greet passes for
most shows will once again be auctioned off for
charity at Charityfolks.com. See www.bonnieraitt.com
for details as they become available.
