Travel Channel Celebrates the Staycation

In light of sky rocketing gas prices, increasing airline costs, airport security measures, and a weakening exchange rate, many travelers are staying closer to home for that much need vacation. Instead of opting for pricier options, vacationers are looking to their own backyards and staying closer to the city limits for a ‘staycation.’ During the week of August 4-8, Travel Channel will present, STAYCATION WEEK, a week of programming dedicated to indulging in the unique destinations viewers all ready call home.

Staycations, trips taken closer to or at home, allow travelers to truly enjoy, relax, and indulge in the places that might otherwise be overlooked. Experiencing an at-home vacation is an excellent travel option free of the stress of airports, lines, and budget restraints.
