He’s quirky; he’s lovable; he’s witty; and he’s the perfect mixture of personality and knowledge. Meet Dr. Paul Trotman, otherwise known as Dr. Know, the host of Discovery Health Channel’s new primetime series of the same title. Dr. Know’s a real doctor (not just one on television), and when he’s not saving lives or healing the ill, this New Zealand native is putting medical myths and mysteries to the test.

Premiering Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Discovery Health Channel, this series without a doubt proves that laughter is the best medicine. In a highly entertaining way, Dr. Know debunks, deflates, discredits and demystifies medical and health myths, folk tales and truisms passed along from generation to generation. Dr. Know’s mission is simple and direct: separate fact from fiction.

In each episode of Dr. Know, the good doctor sets out to prove or disprove two myths. After he explains the origin and mystique of each myth, Dr. Know goes in the field, talks to experts and conducts man-on-the street interviews to investigate and put the myths to the test. In some cases, Dr. Know seeks the aid of two “lab rats” to help solve mysteries. Plus, Dr. Know takes his sleuthing one step farther – to the laboratory where he backs his theories with science.

In this series, find out if a dog’s mouth is cleaner than that of a human and if gum takes seven years to digest. Also, learn if sugar truly makes children hyper and if sitting to close to the TV or computer actually damages the eyes. Episodes use dramatizations, animations and stand-ups with Dr. Know as he embarks on bizarre, outrageous, humorous and sometimes daring investigations.
