bebe stores, inc. (NASDAQ: BEBE) today that super model-turned-actress Rebecca Romijn has been tapped to succeed Mischa Barton as the face of bebe launching for Summer 2007.
“Rebecca Romijn is a strikingly beautiful, multi-talented star, who exudes a sexy and playful elegance that is the essence of the bebe woman,” said Manny Mashouf, Founder and Chairman.
“Rebecca is very much like Mystique, the action character she has portrayed in the blockbuster X-MEN franchise,” continued Mr. Mashouf. “She is fearless and self confident and these are qualities that resonate with women today.”

The Summer 2007 campaign will launch Mid-April in national and regional magazines, outdoor advertising and direct mail. Romijn will make her first official front row appearance at the Fall 2007 COLLECTION bebe runway show which will take place in Los Angeles at the end of March.
Considered by many to be among the most beautiful women in the world, Romijn was twice named one of People magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People”. Her modeling career began when she was discovered by a scout during her freshman year in college. This opportunity quickly led her to Paris where Romijn lived for three years, working with the world’s top fashion photographers and magazines. Romijn has graced hundreds of magazine covers worldwide and has appeared in numerous campaigns. However she secured her super-model status with her two covers of the famed swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated.
From 1998 to 2000, Romijn was the host of MTV’s “House of Style”. She crossed over into film in 2000 with her well known role as the shape-shifting Mystique in X-MEN (2000), based on the long-running comic book series about mutant superheroes. She returned to the role in two blockbuster sequels: X2: X-MEN UNITED (2003) and X-3: THE LAST STAND (2006). Romijn also had a leading role in Brian De Palma’s FEMME FATALE (2002). She has also starred in movies such as ROLLERBALL and GODSEND and has co-starred opposite such notables as Ben Affleck in MAN ABOUT TOWN (2006) and John Travolta in THE PUNISHER (2004).
Last month, ABC announced that Romijn is joining the cast as a series regular in their most popular new series, UGLY BETTY. She will make her debut on January 18th. The show was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Television Series - Comedy and a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
