Friedland got a lot of attention for designing the invitations to Oprah's legendary 50th Birthday. The mini-scrapbooks were bound in shantung silk ordered from India, and embroidered with an "O." Over 150 yards of imported silk were used for the invitations and envelopes. The books were closed with hand-dyed silk ribbon and the envelopes were hand addressed in two-color matching calligraphy.
