In its illustrious history, Cunard has hosted countless entertainers, royalty, and society luminaries aboard its fleet of liners. Earlier Cunard “Queens” have welcomed such famous personalities as Elizabeth Taylor, Rita Hayworth, Marlene Dietrich, Cary Grant, Bing Crosby, and Clark Gable who enjoyed Cunard’s White Star ServiceSM when crossing the Atlantic aboard a Cunard ship was considered the only way to travel.

Since Queen Mary 2’s launch in January 2004, she has continued to play host to many notable guests such as John Cleese, Katie Couric, Richard Dreyfuss, Carly Simon, Rod Stewart, Tina Brown and Harold Evans, Donald Trump, and Dame Shirley Bassey, while eminent visitors have included Her Majesty The Queen, His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, Her Royal Highness Princess Michael of Kent, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Senator Hillary Clinton.

TV Legends Pass Away

Dennis Weaver Dies

Dennis Weaver, he slow-witted deputy Chester Goode in the TV classic western "Gunsmoke" and the New Mexico deputy solving New York crime in "McCloud," has died. The actor was 81. Weaver died of complications from cancer Friday at his home in Ridgway, in southwestern Colorado, his publicist Julian Myers said. Weaver is survived by his wife; sons Rick, Robby and Rusty; and three grandchildren.

Darren McGavin Dies

Darren McGavin, an actor with hundreds of television, movie and theatrical credits to his name, died on Saturday in Los Angeles. He was 83.

The cause of his death, which was reported to The Associated Press by his son Bogart, was not announced, nor was the precise location, identified only as a Los Angeles area hospital.

Don Knotts Dies

Don Knotts, who won five Emmys for portraying the bungling deputy Barney Fife on the hit television program "The Andy Griffith Show," has died at age 81, a spokesman said on Saturday.

Knotts died on Friday night at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, California, of pulmonary and respiratory complications, said Paul Ward, a spokesman for the TV Land cable network, which airs old television programs including "Andy Griffith."

His former co-star Andy Griffith was at Knotts' bedside when he died, as were Knotts' third wife, Francie, and his children, Thomas and Karen, an actress, Ward said in a statement.

Knotts' bug-eyed, high-strung character helped make "The Andy Griffith Show," a sitcom about a folksy sheriff in small-town America, one of the most popular U.S. television shows of the 1960s.

Longoria Loves Downboy

Celebrating a friend’s and her own upcoming birthday, Eva Longoria wanted to gift her pals with something that they could wear around her house during the all night festivities, and because she is such a huge fan of Down Boy’s playful flip flops, she knew they would be the perfect fit for her guests.

Designer Robbie B created and dedicated this line of casual shoes to all the women who may not be the girl next door, but even sexier, the girl two doors down. Eva chose the diamond ring flip flops to gift her friends. Diamonds are a girl’s best friend and the DIAMOND RING sandal is for the socialite with something to say. With the message, “Yes, they’re real and they’re spectacular!” these shoes, available in hot pink, baby pink, brown and black are even better than the real thing! A Real Spa Opens in Culver City

Imagine our delight to hear that a REAL spa had opened in our little hometown of Culver City, Calif.

Skeptics that we are, we furrowed brows at the little neon yellow mini-mall, located just a block from the local Payless, but across the street from trendy veggie eatery Leaf. (See? in the photo on the right, above, that's Oscar-nominee/Desperate Housewife Felicity Huffman to the right of owner Alice Koskas. On the far right is her TV husband -- as opposed to real-life husband actor William Macy -- Doug Savant)

But step beyond the parking lot, past the red-velvet ropes, and you've entered into a luxurious spa that rivals any we've been to -- and BeansTalk are spa experts, boasting nearly weekly massages (when there's $$ to spare), including massages around the globe.

A good deal of design and comfort consideration were given by owner/operators Alice and Didier Koskas (like us, locals, and also like us, proudly feature an 8-year-old board member).

In addition to the Exlir bar (yum on that Yoga flavor) at the spa's entrance, the soulful waiting room and pristine locker-room facilities, the treatment rooms (of which there are several) are the proverbially graciously appointed. Unlike some "spas," these rooms are very comfortably sized -- you don't feel like you're on a table in a walk-in closet, like many places that try to do what The Lounge Spa has well succeed.

We're darn picky about our massages, harsh judges, if you will, and again, our skeptical selves emerged and quickly disappeared once therapist Gloria began working out those computer/stress-generated tensions. She was, in a truthful word, fantastic. Nimble fingers, intuitive stride. Ah, if only we weren't at the office all day and able to indulge in her services.

Prices are shockingly reasonable and it's that combination of affordability and comfortable elegance that will certainly garner the Lounge Spa many a return client.

Here's their 411, straight from Koskas (the Mrs.)

Located in Culver City, CA The Lounge Spa is the place to relax, renew and refresh. The moment you walk thru the red velvet ropes you are greeted by one of our friendly coordinators. With every massage and facial treatment, a complimentary Elixir Tonic drink awaits you. Whether you need more energy, clarity or need to recover from a hang over, The Lounge Spa will have the right tonic for you. Sip your tonic at the Elixir Tonicâ Bar or enjoy a variety of herbal teas, fresh fruit and splashing fruit water in our ultra, cool lounges decorated with shag rugs, pillows and swank leather couches.

Relax to the soft, eclectic music in our 5 treatment rooms decorated with warm chocolate browns and mocha tones. Candles and glow lights light up the room to set the perfect ambience, as you treatment begins.

Based on the names of cocktail drinks, a variety of spa treatments such as On the Rocks- hot stone massage, our classic Spatini Facial, and The Fuzzy Navel, for all your waxing needs, make this a fun, ultra hip, modern feel towards your spa experience.

For those who like to share the experience with someone special or with a girlfriend, reserve the Couple’s Suite and “Make it a Double” Tandem massages side by side.

And what better way to celebrate any special occasion with The Lounge Spa in their private VIP Room. From Bachlorette to Bridal and Birthday Parties, we can create a fun, filled theme and spa treatments for everyone to enjoy.

Can’t find the right gift for the person who has everything? Shoppe in our boutique of tantalizing scrubs, bath bombs and candles. Gift Certificates are also available and wrapped in our signature blue and brown polka dot tissue.

Salvation from Fomites

Fomites aren’t space aliens. They’re everyday objects that transmit infectious agents (aka germs and viruses) from one person to another. Office water cooler? Fomite. iPod and Blackberry, gym equipment, doorknobs and light switches? Fomites. Handrail on the bus? Major fomite.

Fomites can transmit colds, cold sores, conjunctivitis, E.coli infections, influenza and strep, to name just a few possibilities. According to the Occupational and Health Safety Administration, washing hands is the best defense, but most of us don’t do it enough. Fresh Scents 2 in 1 Antibacterial handwash makes it a little easier because of a built-in bonus. The base of each dispenser has a hidden cache of air-freshening beads. The patented time-release beads continuously release delicate fruit or floral scents, which are amplified when the bottle is picked up or shaken. Placed on a kitchen or bathroom counter, they make a fresh-scented reminder of how important it is to keep hands clean.

Washing hands frequently can helps keep infections at bay. Doing it right (according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration) means taking off rings and jewelry, using hot water and enough soap to work up a good lather well, and scrubbing hands, fingers, forearms and under nails for at least 15 seconds. To finish, rinse with hot water and dry with a clean towel. In public facilities, use a paper towel to touch all surfaces.

Fresh Scents 2 in 1 Antibacterial Soap & Home Fragrance comes in six great scents and colors: Fresh Plum Mango (Purple), Cucumber Melon (Green), Tangerine Twist--with a hint of grapefruit(Orange), Cotton Blossom (Blue), and Honeysuckle (Clear), and the attractive dispensers look good and add a touch of color to bathroom or kitchen counters. Fresh Scents can be found at Target Stores, Walgreens and most major retail chains, with an affordable suggested retail price of $2.79.

Project Runway Reunion and Finale

Due to the overwhelming success and popularity of the second season of Bravo's hit series "Project Runway" hosted by Heidi Klum, a special reunion episode has been added to the schedule that will air on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at 10 p.m., ET/PT. In addition, the season finale of the search for the next great designer will be extended to two hours, airing over two weeks on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at 10 p.m., ET/PT and concluding with the winner being crowned on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

For the first time ever on Bravo, viewers will have the opportunity to interact through their cell phones and online, on BravoTV.com, and have their opinions shared with other viewers as they are polled on "Project Runway" related questions posed throughout the March 8 finale. Results from the viewer polls will be displayed throughout the episode. Everyone who votes will be automatically qualified to be randomly selected to win one of ten video iPods. Saturn is the official sponsor of the voting and sweepstakes.

On Wednesday, February 22 (10 p.m., ET/PT), viewers will have an opportunity to see some of the amusing and sensational moments from the previous challenges that did not make it into the preceding shows as all sixteen designers reunite with Heidi and Tim Gunn. The episode will also feature new interviews with the contestants and judges reacting to their experiences during the course of the challenges, as well as their personal reactions as they watch the series on television. Contestants will share their thoughts on how the series has also impacted their careers and lives.

On Wednesday, March 1 (10 p.m., ET/PT), viewers will watch as the final three designers return home to begin work on their lines, which they will present before the world's fashion elite, at Olympus Fashion Week. Each of the contestants will be visited at their homes by Tim Gunn, allowing viewers to learn more about their personal lives and families, as well as to get a sneak peek at their Fashion Week collections.

On March 8, the three finalists will face-off in a runway show in New York Fashion Week. Each contestant will present their line before the judges, the media, and an audience of industry luminaries. At the end, the winner of "Project Runway" will be crowned. The winning designer will walk away with $100,000 in seed money to help them launch their own line and a 2007 Saturn Sky Roadster, both provided by Saturn. The winner's designs will be featured in a spread in ELLE, photographed by the magazine's world-renowned Publication Director, Gilles Bensimon. They will also receive a mentorship from the Banana Republic Design Team.

The second season of "Project Runway" has garnered record ratings and continues to grow week-to-week. The season premiere was triple season one's premiere, and it has been the #1 show on cable on Wednesdays over the last three weeks. Last week's episode surpassed the record-breaking season one finale in just the eighth episode into the second season.

"Project Runway" is executive produced by Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz of Magical Elves ("Project Greenlight," "Last Comic Standing"). Heidi Klum and her managers Desiree Gruber and Jane Cha of NYC-based Full Picture also executive produce the series. Barbara Schneeweiss oversaw the production on behalf of Miramax Television and The Weinstein Company.

Bai Ling. Bai Ling is one of the nicest, most accessible pseudo celebs around. But let's be honest. She's more often photographed for her outrageous just-barely-crotch-covering get-ups than for her style. But at the Grammys this year, she showed up in this astonishingly tasteful and flattering gown, completely coordinated with era-appropriate pumps. The black and white Tadashi gown, garnered her snaps as best dressed at the Grammys by MSN.com. Designer Tadashi "was inspired by Ling's outgoing personality and wanted to create a gown that was sexy yet classic and still leaves something to the imagination," reps for the designer say about this custom couture creation.

Once the scrub is applied, Vichy showers cascade warm water over the entire body, gently rinsing exfoliants and dead skin cells away. Specially formulated moisture rich creams are then applied with a gentle massage to reinvigorate new skin layers. The result is a deeply relaxing total body treatment, leaving skin feeling incredibly smooth and silky.

Spongelle

Spongellé is the new, skin-conditioning, anti-aging, anti-oxidant, mineral- and botanical enriched, exfoliating, massaging, moisturizing, cleansing, fragrance-infused bath treat.

It’s all there…everything necessary for soft, clean, healthy skin from the neck to the toes. New from the makers of Spongeables, Spongellé takes indulgence to the limit, with specially created fragrance infusions like Papaya-Sandalwood, Lily of the Valley-Green Tea, Peony-Cassis, French Lavender-Meyer Lemon, Green Apple-Lilac, Grapefruit-Amber Infusion, Hot Spice-Ginger and Citrus Accord- Musk. Each fragrance infusion is exclusive to Spongellé

Individual formulas include collagen, sea kelp, green tea, skin-loving botanicals vitamins, gentle glycerin-based soap, and olive oil and other humectants to pamper and protect the skin. Spongellé has a soothing, slightly exfoliating texture that massages away old, dry skin and encourages healthy new skin growth. But if you give Spongellé a little squeeze, the texture softens and turns silky. And you can count on an amazing amount of rich, creamy lather. It’s enough to an ordinary shower into a vertical vacation — a few beautifully indulgent “me” minutes to start the day or put a perfect end to one. Each Spongellé is designed to last for a specific number of showers, and stays perfectly fresh without artificial preservatives.

Spongellé comes in 30-wash ($18), 10-wash ($8) and 5-wash ($5) sizes. A Spongellé “special edition” in a gift box with its own decorator plate is also available ($36). Look for them at the best spas, boutiques, hotels, department stores and specialty beauty retailers.

Quick Thinkers

(Left) Couples from ABC's "Sons & Daughters: Alison Quinn, Jerry Lambert; Gillian Vigman, Fred Goss (Right) Comedy Central's unscripted, brilliantly funny "Reno 911" -- the feature film based on the series will also be ad-libbed by the cast. We love that "Lt. Dangle" (Thomas Lennon) and "Officer Weigel" (Kerri Kenny) have been friends since they met in summer camp when they were both 16. We also love Niecy Nash, who's on another one of our favorite shows, Style Net's "Clean House."

They Do It Scriptless

In a rather ironic twist, "reality" programs have been revealed to be largely scripted -- or at least have very contrived situations. Simon Cowell probably isn't as nasty as he is on screen, or certainly as petulant. This season's his barbs are sharper and he's already walked off and actually flown home after a particular audition sequence displeased him. But it's perfectly good drama and what the audience wants. The only difference is that the majority of the viewing audience probably don't realize that situations are staged, exaggerated or downright written word-for-word.

That's what we love about the breed of series that are ad-libbed, unscripted and rely on the quick-witted talent.

ABC's midseason replacement, Sons & Daughters, from Lorne Michaels, is one such show. Others that rely on a couple/few page treatment (and hours of tape to be edited for the finest moments) include some of our favorite shows:

Reno 911 Campus Ladies Curb Your Enthusiasm

Another new show, Fox's "Free Ride," is also unscripted.

That means that not only do the actors have to think quickly, they have to be willing to improvise and work with each other -- kind of the ultimate team play. We love it! And we're darn impressed.
