R.I.P. Corey Haim

John Fugelsang posted on Facebook "I am wishing for the day when well-known addicts get treatment for their disease instead of reality shows for our amusement. RIP Corey H." Haim, 38, was found dead of an apparent drug overdose in his Burbank apartment. His mother was with him.

(BeansTalk note: We met Haim many years ago, when he was 14 and fresh from his debut -- and best -- performance in "Lucas." It was surprising how unlike his film character he was; he was into action films and guns. And yes, that reality series, in which he starred with the "other" Corey, Feldman ("The Two Coreys"). They were quite good and fun in "Lost Boys," but by the time the reality series rolled around, Haim was shockingly and embarassingly lost. It was truly cringe-worthy. When Haim was cut out or left out of the 2008 remake/sequel "Lost Boys: The Tribe" and this year's upcoming straight-to-video "Lost Boys: The Thirst," clearly he was having difficulty finding work -- or was he difficult to work with? At any rate, any death is sad, and yet Haim's overdose seems to signal that proverbial "too much, too soon," that doesn't seem to resonate with young Hollywood, as "blind item" reports of Disney teens' and countless other young performers appear in tabloid reports regularly.)
