MTV/Rolling Stone’s Reality Show

MTV: Music Television and Rolling Stone magazine announced today that they will team up on a new reality series following aspiring journalists as they compete for a one-year staff position with the magazine.

For three months, cameras will document the moves of amateur journalists as they cover a wide array of writing assignments covering artist and entertainment profiles, national affairs, politics and pop culture. Each candidate will work with the top editors of the magazine to hone their writing skills, secure interviews with major musicians, actors and politicians while facing the tight deadlines inherent to the bi-weekly publication. Production on the series begins this summer and the show is scheduled to premiere later this year.

“This series will capture the drama and the excitement of the fast-paced world of Rolling Stone,” said Lois Curren, Executive Vice President, Series Entertainment and Programming, MTV. “Rolling Stone has long been an incubator for top journalists, which makes this an amazing opportunity for aspiring writers.”

Jann Wenner, founder and publisher of Rolling Stone said, “Throughout our history we have seen the careers of some of the nation’s most notable journalists flourish, including Cameron Crowe and the late Hunter S. Thompson. We are anxious to meet the candidates and welcome them into the Rolling Stone family as they embark on their professional careers.”

Casting for this new series will begin TODAY on March 23, 2006. MTV & Rolling Stone will be looking for dynamic, motivated writers who have a passion for culture and desire the opportunity to work at one of the world’s most respected magazines.
