The all-time winner in the general cake field has to go to The Marzipan Cake at Our Daily Bread in Santa Barbara. This is a sensational cake to eat as slowly as possible, to make it last as long as possible. It's deceptively simple -- it appears as a plain round cake, without embellishments or decor, but to have a bite! Ah! This is not the marzipan mentioned below in under "cookie," which comes with a sweetened thick marzipan frosting and traditional marzipan inside.
