Cheer Squad on CSTV
From the intensity of physically challenging auditions to the excitement of game day, CSTV: College Sports Television will go behind-the-scenes for all the kicks, lifts and drama in the life of an elite collegiate cheerleader in the three-part reality series “Cheer Squad.” Premiering on Sunday, February 12 at 9 p.m. (all times ET), each episode goes in-depth with one school’s first-rate squad. CSTV: College Sports Television, now part of CBS Corporation, is available on cable systems throughout the country, as well as on DirecTV and Dish Network and streams live online via broadband at www.cstv.com.
“Cheerleaders are as much a part of the passion and pageantry of college athletics and tradition as quarterbacks and coaches, and ‘Cheer Squad’ gives the audience a compelling look at what it takes to become part of these top-notch teams,” said Tim Pernetti, Senior Vice President, Programming and Talent, CSTV Networks. “The competition is fierce and there is never a dull moment with these men and women.”
The show’s premiere episode features the University of Georgia Bulldogs cheerleaders, a dedicated team with a long tradition of excellence. The Bulldogs are well-known as a top co-ed squad; some of the male cheerleaders are former football players who traded their helmets for cheerleading uniforms. With a tough coach who is a former cheer captain, the Bulldogs’ physical fitness and academic requirements are intense. The show also pays tribute to a former squad captain who joined the army and was killed in Iraq.
The initial schedule for "Cheer Squad" Sunday Nights is as follows:
Sunday, February 12 at 9 pm: "Cheer Squad: University of Georgia"
Sunday, February 19th at 9 pm: "Cheer Squad: University of Southern California"
Sunday, February 26 at 9:30 pm: "Cheer Squad: University of Kentucky"
