Wonder at the White House


First Lady Michelle Obama and her husband, President Barack Obama hosted 'Stevie Wonder In Performance at the White House: The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize' in the East Room of the White House in Washington, Wednesday, 25 February 2009.

The first lady wore an emerald green, empire waist, tea length, silk chiffon dress by Kai Milla. Milla, recently profiled in Harper’s Bazaar, is married to Wonder. Former freelance art director Milla has shown her designs for five seasons and her friend, actress Eva Mendes, was one her first supporters

The celebration aired on PBS Thursday, February 26, 2009. Stevie Wonder was the recipient of The Library of Congress' Gershwin Prize, which was bestowed on him by President Obama. Wonder, who serenaded the first couple, received musical tributes from other musicians including Tony Bennett, Paul Simon, Will.i.am and Martina McBride, each with their own rendition of Wonder's hits.
