Szulika Launches Website

Contemporary clothing line Szulika has announced the launch of their website, www.szulika.net. This comprehensive site gives visitors the chance to view the collection, where to buy, video of recent runway shows for the Spring/Summer 2005 and Fall/Winter 2005 collections, press, and more.

Szulika creator Monica Nahum has been in the fashion industry since childhood. Her mother and grandmother were both entrepreneurs with their own design studios, where she learned attention to detail and quality in craftsmanship, as well as her passion for design. She has vast experience working with the junior line Francine Browner, the contemporary line Anna Paul Collection, Denimex in New York, Azteca in Los Angeles, as well as her family’s business, Encore Performance Apparel. In 2004, Monica decided to launch her own line, Szulika.

The company recently relocated to downtown Los Angeles, where Monica’s mother and assistant designer Amber Clark oversee daily operations for the growing line, which has been featured in the pages of Lucky, Estylo, Razor, and Paper magazines, to name a few.

The romantic pieces are inspired by Victorian silhouettes in a cropped jacket, a maxi skirt, wide leg trouser and the gaucho pant all in rayon/wood tweed. Coordinating with the wool pieces are whimsical bodies in a sparkle chantilly lace such as a mandarin collared shell, a mini empire vest with stain ribbon, a wrap tunic—great for layering, and a flowing lace and satin inset skirt. The modernism is expressed in shapes that drape, blousson, tie and have movement. A rayon lycra jersey in plum, coffee and black—cut into Renaissance-inspired tops and dresses, cut off the shoulders with sequined trim, and finishing off with gold filigree beads. Tops are loose and comfortable in blousson cuts with drawstring and dropped waists. The bottoms for this look include the new palazzo pant, the cropped pant- cut slim with drawstring ties, the gaucho jumper and the gaucho pant still remaining strong. Throughout the collection you’ll see soft shimmer of gold stitching and the subtle radiance of metallic and lace.
