BBC's Hex Returns for a New Season
The battle to save the world from evil continues in the second season of the highly-acclaimed, supernatural drama series, Hex. Set in a remote British boarding school, Hex tells the story of time-traveling, telekinetic teenagers unlike any others. At the close of the first season, a student’s aborted baby is found alive and growing at an inhuman rate. His birth has unleashed a crew of fallen angels, who are dead-set on killing mortals. The human race’s only chance for survival depends on one student, Ella, with a mysterious past. But can she fight all of Hell back on her own? Hex, season two premieres Saturday, June 2, 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. The second season kicks off with a special two-hour premiere. The remaining eight episodes are one hour.
As season two opens, warrior and savior, Ella (Laura Pyper, Holby City), lies drugged and vulnerable in a psychiatric hospital. Former student, current ghost, Thelma (Jemima Rooper, The Black Dahlia), races to save Ella, knowing that her selfish deal with fallen angel, Azazeal (Michael Fassbender, 300), is what put Ella at risk. Her only hope is Ella’s merely-mortal boyfriend, Leon (Jamie Davis, Footballers Wive$). Back at school, Headmaster David (Colin Salmon, Die Another Day) is forced to take drastic action to protest Ella’s treatment. This leaves the school vulnerable to an evil spirit posing as a teacher, Jez (Sam Troughton, Robin Hood), who uses alpha mean girl, Roxanne (Amber Sainsbury, Murder in Mind), to carry out his evil plan.
Haunting Leon’s dreams, Thelma hopes that his feelings for Ella are strong enough to resist Roxanne’s demands that they all forget about her. But as Thelma starts to make progress, Azazeal sends the eerie Perie the Faerie (Katrine De Candole, Casanova) to pose as Ella’s new nurse. As Nurse Perie feeds her a drug that drains her telekinetic powers and threatens to leave her totally defenseless, will mere mortal Leon find it in himself to rescue Ella before it’s too late?

EPISODE SYNOPSES
Episode one is a two-hour premiere. Subsequent episodes are one hour.
As Ella lies drugged and vulnerable in a psychiatric hospital, Thelma desperately tries to undo the damage she caused. But as Thelma starts to make progress, a new nurse, Perie, arrives at the hospital and, because this newcomer is clearly a creature sent by Azazeal, time is running out for Ella. Sick and getting worse, Ella fears the drugs that Nurse Perie has been giving her may have permanently turned her into a mortal. Meanwhile, Azazeal orders Jez to find and kill Ella. His son, Malachi, is reaching maturity and must not be put at risk. When the effects of Ella’s mortality become more extreme than anyone could ever imagine, Thelma is forced to bring Ella’s mere-mortal boyfriend, Leon, into the spirit world in order to help save her. If Azazeal’s forces are allowed to destroy her, Malachi will become too powerful for anyone to stop.

Episode two
Ella is determined to exact revenge. Upon her return to Medenham, Ella has all the ammunition she needs to give Jez what he has coming. Meanwhile, Azazeal prepares his son to enroll at the boarding school. When she and Malachi finally meet, Ella realizes that, rather than being overcome with bloodlust, she is fascinated by him. Knowing what has to be done, Ella steels herself to attack Malachi. However, when she finds Azazeal instead, he reveals some shocking information that leaves Ella more confused than ever about her purpose. Will she be able to fulfill her destiny?

Episode three
Looking to make peace with Thelma, Malachi arranges for her to have some eternal company. Though horrified by his methods, Thelma can’t resist the allure of having a beautiful ghost girlfriend. Meanwhile, it’s Ella’s 446th birthday and Leon wants to celebrate. But at her party, Ella finds it difficult to fight her growing attraction to Malachi. The Archangel Raphael steps in to remind her of her duty, but she soon finds herself going on a date with Malachi. But it’s no ordinary date, for he has the Stone of Belial, which he uses to bend the laws of space and time and transport them to Berlin in the decadent 1920’s.

Episode four
As Leon tells Ella their relationship is over, Mephistopheles tells Malachi to forget Ella and concentrate on the war with heaven. Although Ella and Malachi are drawn to each other, the relationship is doomed. Ella feels God’s wrath first when she’s suddenly covered with boils. When Malachi’s eyesight starts to falter, he begins to realize that Mephistopheles might have been deadly serious. However, he still has a trick left up his sleeve—Malachi has the power to destroy Thelma’s love affair if she won’t help him. But the other side isn’t without hope—Leon may not have given up on Ella just yet.

Episode five
Something went horribly wrong when Malachi and Ella got together. Having seemingly forgotten that she’s an Anointed One, Ella is no longer able to see Thelma and, even worse, she’s become totally obedient to Malachi. But any idea that he genuinely loved her seems to have been abandoned when he starts treating her like a slave. Heartbroken, Leon is determined that Malachi won’t win and, egged on by the Archangel Raphael, hatches a plan to kill him with Thelma’s help. But selfish Thelma knows that if Malachi dies, she will be dispatched into darkness, too.

Episode six
Ella is determined to kill Malachi once and for all. But first, she has to make her peace with Thelma and learn why she betrayed them. When she sees Thelma talking to another ghost, Maya, it becomes clear that Thelma sold them out in order to keep her girlfriend. Though Ella is furious, they make their peace and agree Malachi must die. Ella realizes it will not be so easy to do away with him now that he’s grown stronger. Seeing the mark of Malachi on a student’s neck, Ella realizes she’s a succubus who’s nourishing him, and must also die. But then Ella discovers that Maya is also a succubus, and she’ll have to kill the love of Thelma’s life.

Episode seven
Leon is desperate to prove himself to Ella, but was unable to murder the student succubus, Alex, in her sleep. His failure to decapitate Alex has shown Ella what she knew all along—that she’s better off on her own. Meanwhile, things are getting dangerous at Medenham as most of the school now bears the mark of Malachi and it’s clear that former teacher Jo Watkins has not returned unscathed from her trip to Hell. Determined to do his part to save the world from Malachi’s malevolent influence, he turns his attention to his friend Tom, who also bears the mark of Malachi. As he steels himself to murder what looks like his good friend, Leon wonders if it's already too late to save the world and get the girl.
Episode seven premieres Saturday, July 21, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
Episode eight
Ella and Thelma are in deep trouble. Tricked by Malachi, Leon has become a succubus (and a particularly nasty one at that). Thelma hopes that by going into his dreams she can awaken him by appealing to his deepest and darkest fears. The two girls are hoping that castration will do the job, but they’ve been wrong before. Meanwhile, to fulfill his destiny, Malachi is preparing to bring about The End of Days. Thelma appears as an angel to reach out to Roxanne, who is the only student left at Medenham that Malachi cannot reach.
As Ella prepares for her final battle with Malachi, Leon leaves Medenham, unable to cope with what he has become because of her. But when Tom’s ghost and Mephistopheles share some words of wisdom with him, could love prevail even as the world burns?
