BeansTalk’s View
We were, if at all, a very infrequent viewer of ABC’s daytime live talkfest, The View. Then, last year, Rosie O’Donnell joined the show and we were hooked. We loved Rosie’s viewpoint, her fast and funny quips and her frank and open discussions. Yes, she’s probably a challenge, but here is someone who fully acknowledges their mental illnesses – is more than willing to discuss on camera and has probably helped countless viewers come to terms with their own issues of depression. We were very, very sad that she’s leaving. Since we never watched when she was on break, we’re not likely to tune in unless the show replaces her with Kathy Griffin (bloody unlikely given some of her appearances on The View and her skewering of Barbara Walters in her stand-up). We’re not interested at all in Roseanne Barr replacing her, because, well, frankly, we find her voice whiny and we think she’s just not as smart as Rosie. So we lament Rosie’s leaving. We’re saddened that she won’t be there to be sweetly supportive of audience members announcing the tease (“perfect!”) and her spot-on commentary and her responses to Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who apparently will announce her pregnancy today (who cares? Not us). We will miss her and now we’ll have to find something else to watch (if anything) at 10 a.m. PT.
