Top Gun

BeansTalk on Pilots

We’ve had a chance to catch the NBC, CBS and CW fall pilots. So far, we’ve found one show we’re going to turn into (meaning, that we really want to watch, not something we have to watch for our day job).

Our current pick is Reaper, a new horror-comedy from Kevin Smith (Clerks). It's about a young guy who finds out his parents sold his soul to the devil and has to pay back Mr. Satan by being a bounty hunter. The show stars Bret Harrison who was Lily Finnerty’s neighbor-boyfriend on Fox’s underrated “Grounded for Life.” He also had a recurring role as “Charlie” on “That ‘70s Show” -- he probably should’ve gone on to the final season instead of the much-less-likable Josh Meyers. Instead, Harrison opted to star in the little-seen Fox series, “The Loop,” which was O.K., but certainly without the potential of “Reaper.”

Reaper will air this fall, Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on The CW
