Super Hot: Pink Polka Dot

Do you love your arms? Does your braless rack salute the sun? If so, you might think about showing off these body parts by sporting one of these cute dresses from the super hot line Pink Polka Dot. This line caught BeansTalk’s eye recently and held onto it once we discovered who the designer was: none other than Sharise Neil, former wife of Motley Crue front man Vince Neil. Here’s more of her story:

Sharise Neil, designer and co-owner of Pink Polka Dot grew up in Orange County, California. As the only girl on her high school surf team she spent most of her time at the beach and in the ocean.

After high school she made her way to Los Angeles where she met and married Vince Neil, the lead singer of Motley Crue. The love of designing came to her while helping her then husband design stage outfits and jackets for high profile magazine covers such as Rolling Stone. It was not long after that she was designing original pieces for upscale boutiques on Sunset Blvd.

In the 90’s, she designed an 80-piece line of swimsuits called “Exposed” which was cross-marketed with Vince’s solo album which was titled “Exposed.” When the seven-year marriage ended she took a break from designing and became one of Hollywood’s premier club promoters with the hottest guest list in town.

Sharise’s good friend Daniella Clark, who is married to Gilby from Gun’s and Roses, started her own line of ridiculously low waisted jean, which is now known as denim powerhouse Frankie B. “I loved them so much, I asked her if I could design some equally low panties to wear underneath.” A new star was born and Sharise named this company NA-NA.

Sharise Neil has since transitioned to her new company called Pink Polka Dot with partner Kirk Siegel. Pink Polka Dot is a denim friendly line of mostly tops and dresses for the sexpot in all of us! She says, “I consider my style, a little bit of surf and a ton of Rock N’ roll. I want to make women feel sophisticated and sexy when they wear my things. My philosophy is simple…show a little, hide a little.”

Pink Polka Dot is also worn by some of Hollywood’s favorite starlets such as: Carmen Electra, Kate Hudson, Denise Richards, Kristen Cavalari, Heather Locklear and Fergie (London Bridge Video).

Look for these summer wardrobe must-haves which come in a variety of prints and colors at: Nordstrom Savvy departments nationwide and at Arizona's Electric Ladyland shops. http://www.electricladyland.com/
Most retail for about $133.00

Molly Shannon’s Role of a Lifetime

Molly Shannon, who recently received critical acclaim in “Year of the Dog” (seen in photo above) following six years as a cast member of “Saturday Night Live,” will turn her comedic acting talents to a new Lifetime Original Movie. A whimsical, lighthearted and touching comedy about an overworked and overextended wife, mom and career woman who splits into three separate versions of herself with distinct personalities in order to manage her chaotic life, “More of Me” will premiere this fall on Lifetime Television.

“We’re always seeking to infuse our original movies with a variety of genres and we know our loyal audience always enjoys smart, relatable and contemporary comedies,” said Libby Beers, Senior Vice President, Original Movies, Lifetime Television. Adding, “Molly Shannon is a genuine movie and television star and both her unique physical and comedic acting skills make her ideal for this role.”

In “More of Me,” Alice McGrath (Shannon) is a modern woman torn between her desire for perfection in her three worlds: as an environmental activist; as the perfect mother to rambunctious six-year-old twins; and as a loving wife to her husband, a civil engineer on the rise. When Alice finally becomes overwhelmed and hits her breaking point, she splits into three separate versions of herself—each taking over a different aspect of her life. Her emotional side is focused on being the perfect wife; her rational side steps in to take control of her career; and her conscience becomes the quintessential selfless mother. At first, Alice revels in her newfound freedom, but the limitations of her three personalities start to manifest when the three different “personas” begin to wreak havoc in each of her worlds, and she realizes that her sum is better than her individual parts.

Molly Shannon is best known as a cast member on “Saturday Night Live” from 1995 to 2001, developing such memorable characters as Sally O’Malley and performing parodies of Courtney Love and Meredith Vieira. Shannon has successfully segued from television to film. She recently received critical acclaim for her starring role in “Year of the Dog” and will be seen in “Evan Almighty” opposite Steve Carell and in Bruce Leddy’s “Shut Up & Sing.” She recently appeared in Keenan Ivory Wayan’s “Little Man” and with Will Ferrell in “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” as well as a cameo “Scary Movie 4.” Her other feature film credits include “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” “Analyze This,” “Happiness,” “Never Been Kissed” and “A Night at the Roxbury.” Shannon also starred in “Superstar,” featuring her own popular “SNL” character, Mary Katherine Gallagher. On television, Shannon starred in the telefilm “12 Days of Christmas Eve” and a remake of the classic musical “The Music Man.” She also did multiple guest appearances on “Will & Grace” and “Sex and the City.”

“More of Me” is produced by Jaffe/Braunstein Films in association with Andrea Simon Entertainment for Lifetime Television. Executive producers are Howard Braunstein, Michael Jaffe (Lifetime’s “Write & Wrong” and “Not Like Everyone Else”) and Andrea Simon (“Hurricane Mary”). Robyn Snyder (Lifetime’s “A Life Interrupted”) is co-executive producer. Daisy von Sherler Mayer (“Madeline,” “Party Girl”) directs from a script written by Kelli Pryor (“A Stranger’s Heart”).

Lifetime is the leader in women’s television and one of the top-rated basic cable television networks. A diverse, multi-media company, Lifetime is committed to offering the highest quality entertainment and information programming, and advocating a wide range of issues affecting women and their families. Lifetime Television, LMN, Lifetime Real Women and Lifetime Digital (including LifetimeTV.com) are part of Lifetime Entertainment Services, a 50/50 joint venture of The Hearst Corporation and The Walt Disney Company.

A Model Life With Petra Nemcova chronicles the real story of what it takes to be a NEXT model in New York City, without staged eliminations or contrived challenges. Using her own life experiences, Petra advises the models on how to succeed as a model and underscores the importance of having a well-rounded life. Over the span of several weeks, the six girls live through the harsh business of modeling ranging from finicky photographers and clothing designers to contradicting advice on weight and body image from bookers and nutritionists. Office Gets Syndie Deal

Emmy® and Golden Globe®-Winning Sitcom The Office to Join TBS Line-Up
Repurposed on TBS Beginning in Fall 2007

One of the funniest workplaces in television history is coming to TBS when the Emmy® and Golden Globe®-winning series THE OFFICE joins the network’s line-up in Fall 2007, according to an announcement today by Ken Schwab, senior vice president of programming for TBS and sister network TNT. TBS’s deal for the series, which stars Steve Carrell (Evan Almighty, The 40-Year-Old Virgin), includes non-exclusive broadband streaming, on-demand and wireless rights to run concurrent with the off-network telecast rights, which will begin in Fall 2009. Jonathan Katz, senior vice president of program planning and acquisitions for Turner Entertainment Group, negotiated the deal on behalf of Turner Broadcasting with Frances Manfredi, senior vice president/general sales manager, Cable & Non-Theatrical Sales, NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution.

“THE OFFICE is not only a top-notch sitcom, but also one of the most relatable comedies on television,” said Schwab. “Anyone who has ever worked for a completely clueless boss, had an inner-office romance or simply worked among an odd assortment of coworkers will immediately get the offbeat humor in this series. It’s a wonderful addition to our line-up, and we’re thrilled to bring it to our audience of comedy lovers.”

The 2006 Emmy winner for Outstanding Comedy Series, THE OFFICE is a documentary-style look into the humorous and sometimes poignant foolishness that plagues the 9-to-5 world. It delves into the lives of the workers at Dunder Mifflin paper supply company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Regional manager Michael Scott (Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee Carell) is a single, middle-aged man who is the boastful tour guide for the documentary. With unshaken enthusiasm, he believes he is the office funnyman, a fountain of business wisdom and his employees’ cool friend. He has no clue that his employees tolerate his inappropriate behavior only because he signs their paychecks.

Michael’s staff includes Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer, Slither), the friendly office receptionist who bears the brunt of his routines; Jim Halpert (John Krasinski, Jarhead, Kinsey), a likable sales rep with a good sense of humor who should have found a better job years ago; Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson, Six Feet Under), the arrogant assistant to the regional manager; and Ryan Howard (B.J. Novak, Punk’d), a young, smart, self-possessed temp, who quickly figures out the real office politics.

In addition to its 2006 Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series and Golden Globe for lead Carrell, THE OFFICE has earned four Emmy nominations, a Screen Actors Guild Award® for Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy Series, two Television Critics Association Awards and two Writers Guild of America Awards. THE OFFICE, from Reveille and Universal Media Studio, is executive-produced by Ben Silverman; Greg Daniels, who developed the series for American audiences; Ricky Gervais, who starred in the British version of the series; Stephen Merchant; and Howard Klein.

Summer Beauty Blends
from Bare Escentuals

Ok Ladies. We all know that make up has a shelf life and should be discarded after three months or so, correct? Summer is the perfect time to restock on some favorites and perk up your routine to boot. We also remind our readers that when it comes to foundations in particular, if you are using the same shades in July that you use in December… it is time to look in the mirror. This is a big fashion No No.

Here at BeansTalk, we are big fans of the versatility of mineral make up and always are intrigued by the summer offerings by our friends at Bare Escentuals. Check out their Beyond the Basics Collection:

The set includes:
.02 oz i.d. bareMinerals Multi-Tasking Face in Bisque (bone)
This is a great concealer for most months, but switch to your summer bisque as your sun exposure increases.

.02 oz i.d. bareMinerals SPF 20 Multi-Tasking Face in Summer Bisque (golden beige)
BeansTalk uses this super pretty concealer to even out other areas of the face too, as we find that mother nature will sometimes color our face a bit unevenly!

.02 oz i.d. bareMinerals Soft Focus All-Over Face Color in Glee (muted mauve)
Confession: We have always wanted to try this natural blush color after we heard Leslie Blodgett talk about why they named it “glee” on one of her TV spots.

.02 oz i.d. bareMinerals All-Over Face Color in Bare Radiance (amber nude)
The beauty is in the subtle effect. Remember: soft sheer layers will do the trick.

.02 oz i.d. bareMinerals Faux Tan All-Over Face Color (sunlit bronze)
This product reminds us of the Warmth shade, as it can be used as a warm blush.

plus a Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush and a Soft Focus Face Brush.

We all love our medium beige and beige foundations from B.E., right? No need to abandon! All one needs to do for summer is layer some of these accent colors over them. It is just the right adjustment your make up routine needs to look correct with the extra summer sun exposure we all get or to look luminous in extended daylight hours while dining in outdoor cafes.

You will find the Bare Escentuals Beyond the Basics kit for a reasonable $49.00 at http://www.sephora.com/ , http://www.qvc.com/, at your local Bare Escentuals Boutique or by calling Bare Escentuals at 800/266-9135.

(Shockingly Flattering) Jeans for Our Roundiness!

Don’t think we’re taking on the denim department. That is strictly associate editor Andrea Goodwin’s balliwick.

We are very reluctant to try jeans. We are on the curvier side of the continuum, coupled with the shorter side of the spectrum. This makes for a rather challenging time finding jeans that are in any way flattering.

BeansTalk readers know that we kind of flipped our lid for the now defunct Bella Elemento line and were thrilled to pieces we could get them for under $30 (originally $198) at Ross-Dress-For-Less. Well, that well has run dry, and we reluctantly tried a pair of Pine IV jeans – they are made from 98% cotton denim and 2% spandex, which is exactly the blend of a pair of Department of Peace jeans we tried on once but didn’t buy, and haven’t been able to find since. The only issue with the Department of Peace Jeans is that they weren’t particularly stylish. No, don’t get us wrong, they weren’t “mom jeans” or anything, but we weren’t rockin’ the denim in them.

That said, the Pine IV jeans are fashion forward and genuinely what Vogue calls “fast fashion.” That means it’s very up-to-the-minute. And, for a person who buys their clothing on how closely it resembles nightwear (think nightgowns and PJs), they're super comfortable. The fact that we're willing to wear them for an entire day says a lot. Really. A lot.

Pine IV jeans are made from high-end Japanese denim, known for its sophisticated washes and high-quality yarn. And unlike a lot of other specialty brands, Pine IVs come in sizes for a curvy girl. Jennifer Garner, America Ferrera, Teri Hatcher, Faith Hill and Amber Tamblyn all love the line. For every pair you purchase, the folks at Pine IV will make a donation to plant one tree on your behalf. Go greenie!! Retails for around $200.

A Little Weekend Food for (the malnourished) Thought

So, here is a completely non-incarceration tit-bit on Paris Hilton. She's seen here, in the above photo, in the early days of her notariety. She has said she would never have her boobies made bigger.

And here she is in a Simple Life current season promo poster after gaining "fame" (supposedly donning the -- apparently freakin' amazing -- "push-up bra" she said she wears)

Ferry on Letterman

Bryan Ferry Peforms On "Late Show With David Letterman" June 26th, Coinciding With Release Of His New Album, Dylanesque Autograph Session Scheduled For June 27th
at New York City’s J&R Music and Computer World

Bryan Ferry will celebrate the June 26th release of his new album, Dylanesque, with an appearance on "Late Night with David Letterman" that evening. The following day, June 27th, Ferry will autograph his new CD at J&R Music and Computer World (23 Park Row, New York, NY) at 12:30 p.m.

With Dylanesque Ferry, a founding member of Roxy Music and one of Britain’s most distinctive singer-songwriters, interprets 11 classic songs of American icon Bob Dylan, including "The Times They Are A-Changin,’" "Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door," "Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues," "Simple Twist of Fate," "Positively 4th Street," "All I Really Want To Do" and "Make You Feel My Love."

"Bryan Ferry’s new album Dylanesque is proof that when one legend interprets the work of another, the results can be magical," said Nylon. "In Ferry’s able hands Dylan’s classic songs take on an entirely new personality." Ferry’s version of "Gates of Eden" was recently USA Today’s "Pick of the Week" while Harp noted that hearing "Ferry cutting and quivering through the portent of ‘Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues’ is one slow dazzle."

While Dylanesque took only about a week to record, its roots go back to Ferry’s first solo album, 1973’s These Foolish Things. Recording "A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall" for the album, Ferry recalls thinking it would be great to make a whole album of Dylan songs. He did include the occasional Dylan cover on his subsequent solo albums, but it wasn’t until late 2006 that he began making the album he’d conceived of nearly 35 years prior.

Collectively, these interpretations comprise their own emotional world - a fresh and vivid place, cut at times by deep shadows and open to the weather of its mood. Ferry uses the medium of Dylan's songs - their lyrical power, their tenderness, insight or portentous nuance - in order to make a musical statement that is in part a portrait of Dylan, and as importantly a self-portrait.

"As far as the words are concerned it's a bit like an actor tackling Shakespeare," says Ferry. "I like finding the melodies that Dylan's hidden away in there."

Jolie Jeweled

Find Your Style on HGTV

Developing a self-assured design style can be a daunting process, but now hesitant homeowners can learn how to unleash their designer within with the help of popular HGTV personality Karen McAloon, host of Find Your Style. Viewers will be able to see special sneak episodes on Sunday, August 12 at 10 pm ET/PT and Sunday, August 19 at 10 pm ET/PT, directly following HGTV Design Star. The series will premiere in its regular weekly time slot on Saturday, August 18 at 10:30 pm ET/PT.

Best known for her resourcefulness, creative solutions and quirky, artistic touches on the HGTV series Design Remix, Karen McAloon takes on a new role here, teaching the design-challenged some of the fundamentals of design and the basic principles they need to execute their own makeovers.

In each episode, McAloon first inspects the home for clues that can help homeowners identify their own design preferences. After helping them find their "inner designer," Karen sends the family off to shop and decorate on their own using their new-found knowledge. Sure, they make mistakes, but they also get things right, and McAloon is always on hand to inspire, encourage and provide her expert counsel.

"Find Your Style showcases the talents of Karen McAloon and empowers viewers to imagine and enjoy their homes in unexpected new ways and inspires them to uncover their own hidden tastes and propensity for design," said Melissa Sykes, senior vice president, original programming.

A special "Style Quiz" also will launch on HGTV.com on a web page designed to coincide with the series launch for online users who want to determine their own style in a fun and interactive way.

Go Green, Beauty Routine
iTech Introduces NEW Tourmaline Hair Dryer for 60% Faster Drying Time

Little changes can make a big impact. By swapping your basic 1800 watt dryer with one that has Tourmaline, like the new iTech Tourmaline Hair Dryer. The tourmaline in the dryer effectively dries hair 60% faster reducing the amount of time needed to blow-dry strands, thus saving energy. Example: A basic dryer takes 25 minutes to dry hair, while a tourmaline dryer blows-out hair in 10 minutes, saving 15 minutes of electricity use!

Tourmaline is prized as a beautiful, semi-precious gem. It is the only mineral on earth to show permanent electricity and is also a natural source of negative ions and far infrared (FIR) rays. What does this mean? Far infrared heat is a deep penetrating but safe, non-damaging heat, making it ideal for application on hair. Negative ions make the hair shiny, silky and smooth.

The hair is positively charged and the negative ions that are naturally emitted by the tourmaline crystals adhere to the positively charged hair, closing the cuticle layer of the hair for a smooth, silky hair surface. It also aids in sealing in the hair's natural moisture, resulting in shiny, healthy and frizz-free hair.

iTech’s Tourmaline Hair Dryer

· Humidity-proof, eliminating frizz

· Leaves hair healthy and shiny with optimum manageability and free of thermal damage

· Less tangling and cuticle abrasion because infrared heat reduces the need for strong wind velocity

· Quiet and long lasting DC motor.

· Ultra Lightweight

Now it is possible to look beautiful and help the planet by conserving energy. iTech’s Tourmaline Hair Dryer retails for $200. For more information please visit www.itechproducts.com.

Sun Worshipper
Andrea Goodwin, Associate Editor

It’s a compliment, right? BeansTalk is a So Cal beach native, don’t cha know. We grew up playing volleyball and flirting with cute surfer dudes at Will Rogers State Beach. Ahhh those were the days.

Well, you can take the girl away from the beach and the harmful rays, but you can not take the beach away from the girl. As summer approaches, we still feel the draw of sun-soaked days lounging on our towels, wiling away the hours. Except that, we know better now. Skin cancer made us wake up real fast to the deceitful allure of the sun.

We have a better idea. Check out the Sun Worshipper Face and Body Collection from Bare Escentuals. ($49.00) The set contains:
Faux Tan Sunless Tanner with Pump
bareMinerals Faux Tan All-Over Face Color
bareMinerals Nude Beach Glimmer
Wearable Bronze Lip Gloss
Flawless Application Face Brush

So fun! For days you are strutting your short shorts we recommend the super nice Faux Tan (better than real) lotion. This natural and hydrating lotion is easy to apply because you can monitor the shade as it goes on. BeansTalk tried it and was happy to see, in about three hours, a “suggestion” of a tan rather than the embarrassing orange or toasty look. Word to the wise: do be sure to wash your hands.

We also liked the Faux Tan All Over Face Color. Again, a sheer cover after regular foundation will give a suggestion of being sun kissed, especially if one applies it to the cheeks, bridge of nose, and forehead. Note: BeansTalk is planning to do some backstage coverage for the Daytime Emmys coming up, and we know that this little product is great for celebs who know they are to be photographed and do not want to look washed out. God forbid a starlet is photographed standing next to someone who is tanner than she!

For the Jennifer Lopez glow that we all crave the Nude Beach Glimmer is a really, really pretty effect for the eyes. The shade is best described as a translucent warm mauve. It can be worn wet or dry, alone or mixed with other bareMinerals, for a variety of shimmering summer looks.
Keeping it simple: Add a dab of the Wearable Bronze Lip Gloss, and a little mascara and you are good to go.

New Season of Living With Ed

Daryl Hannah, Bradley Whitford, Jane Kaczmarek, Sharon Lawrence, Jackson Browne Among Celebs
Tapped for 13-Part Series Premiering Monday, August 27 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT

The green room takes on a whole new meaning for the celebrity pals of Emmy-nominated actor and committed environmentalist Ed Begley, Jr. in the second season of HGTV's popular, critically-acclaimed, eco-friendly series Living With Ed. The series will have two special sneak previews this summer following episodes of the eagerly-anticipated reality series HGTV Design Star on Sunday, August 26 and Sunday, September 2 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. Living With Ed will premiere in its regular weekly prime time slot on Monday, August 27 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.

One of the first programs to debut in the growing "green" TV genre, the vanguard series returns bigger, better and greener than ever with 13 new episodes that will find Begley and wife Rachelle Carson dispensing more tips and practical ideas on how anyone can lead a greener lifestyle. In a special new twist this season, Ed ventures out beyond his own green acres to give viewers a peek inside the homes and properties of other Hollywood personalities who are either looking for advice from Begley or eager to share the innovative ways they are working toward environmentally-conscious living.

Daryl Hannah, Bradley Whitford, Jane Kaczmarek, Sharon Lawrence, and Jackson Browne are among the celebrities who are expected to open up their homes to Begley and HGTV viewers. In each half-hour episode, cameras will follow Ed as he gives and gets guidance and inspiration on how everyone can incorporate easy, attractive, practical and affordable "green" ideas into their daily lives.

"Rachelle and I are thrilled that Living With Ed has caught on with so many viewers across America," said Begley. "We are looking forward to having a lot of fun this next season while spreading the environmental message. The fact that the two of us have not killed each other and that we are still happily married amazes us daily. Perhaps with this next season, all of this will change," he added.

In one episode, Ed visits with musician Jackson Browne and tours his off-the-grid ranch, complete with an impressive solar and windmill system, as well as other installations and inventions that make the compound self-sufficient. Begley, inspired by his visit to Browne's place, vows to install a form of wind-power in his own Studio City home.

"HGTV was among the first to enter the 'green' television landscape with a regular weekly series of Living With Ed in January 2007," said Melissa Sykes, senior vice president, original programming, HGTV. "Our foray into this category continues with a slate of new green programming. The enthusiastic response we've received from viewers during the first season indicates that they will love these new episodes."

HGTV.com also will highlight details of the green project featured in the series, including the reason behind the project, the approximate cost and the environmental benefits, such as energy savings and reduction of pollutants. Homeowners considering such projects also will find advice and on how to get started and where to find more information.

about glacéau

it all started when one thirsty man named darius wanted better water, but couldn't find any worth drinking, so he decided to make his own. along came a guy from queens named mike (he’s like darius’ robin…but don’t tell him that) and because mike has a gift for gab, it’s no wonder word got around, thus emerged glacéau, a fresh new approach to bottled water. today glacéau, the creator and leader of the enhanced water category, is the maker of vitaminwater®, fruitwater®, smartwater® and vitaminenergy ™. now with 1,000+ full and part-time employees, (that’s a big holiday party) glacéau is all about helping thirsty people like you hydrate responsibly with products that are free of sodium and artificial ingredients. that means no artificial sweeteners, no artificial colors and especially no artificial intelligence (never to be trusted). for more information visit www.glaceau.com.
