Must See TV: 30 Rock
Last night, 30 Rock completely redeemed itself. This episode got away from what was dragging it down – too much Tracy Morgan and Jane Kracowski’s overacting. Focusing on Tina Fey’s Liz Lemon and Alec Baldwin’s Jack, it was completely brilliant and funny. Remember, it’s on Wednesday nights and is hilarious. NBC. Based more-than-loosely on the behind-the-scenes shenanigans at "Saturday Night Live," "30 Rock" centers around young comedy writer Liz Lemon. She's currently "living the dream," working as the head writer for a live sketch-comedy show in New York City. Hijinks ensue when the network's new president asks Liz to hire an unpredictable movie star named Tracy Jordan to join the cast. Can Liz manage all the egos involved whilst still trying to chase her own dream?
The series is executive-produced by Lorne Michaels, Tina Fey, JoAnn Alfano, Marci Klein and David Miner. Before the series debuted, Rachel Dratch's (series creator/star Tina Fey's former "SNL" cohort) role was diminished due to the introduction of an "ingenue" played by Jane Krakowski ("Ally McBeal").
Dratch now actually plays a variety of small bit parts -- and is wonderful in whatever she does. More Dratch. Keep that Fey and Baldwin comin'!
