OPI

This is the season of timeless glamour.

OPI designer Suzi Weiss-Fischmann modernizes runway looks inspired by the Forties, menswear, plaid, embroidery and lace - with deep, dark, sophisticated hues for her nail lacquer, which include rich browns, cinnamons, deep jewel tones such as ruby, garnet, and amethyst, as well as velvety purples, figs, and grapes. Weiss-Fischmann reports that overall fashion this fall takes the timeless look of the Jazz and Victorian ages and loosens it up in order to reflect the busy lifestyle of today’s woman. The fitted looks of these eras have been loosened up, with the opulence and sparkle maintained.

In keeping with the dazzle of these runway looks OPI has added four new shades to their extraordinary Designer Series. “Designer Series is absolute couture for nails,” explains Weiss-Fischmann. “In the same way that you might choose fabulous jewels to enhance a gown, Designer Series are an unforgettable accessory. People might even ask,`Who are you wearing?’” The new additions are: “Sensation”, a shimmery bright pink, “Dazzle”, a brilliant, sparkling magenta, “Perfection”, rose glimmering with diamond dewdrops, and “Royal”, glittering royal purple. Designer Series really got the attention of BeansTalk when we learned that its unparalleled brilliance and luster is attributed to a unique diamond dust formulation. (Okay, our heart literally jumped inside of our chest.) We had to try it. We are happy to report that having that little bit of glamour on our fingertips and toes did add a little swagger to our step. (It’s like wearing great lingerie! You just feel fabulous!)

Of similar importance to the extraordinary experience of wearing Designer Series by OPI is in the introduction of the Exclusive ProWide™ Brush. Their website boasts:

Extravagantly lush and thick, the new Designer Series ProWide Brush is the ultimate brush and unlike any other you have ever used. This new flat brush is precisely designed so that the specially-shaped bristles align in a stack, creating a smooth, flat surface. This revolutionary new design allows the brush to hold more nail lacquer, spread it more evenly and deliver a streak free application.

BeansTalk (actually associate editor Andrea Goodwin) also had the chance to chat with Suzi Weiss-Fischmann about this season’s line and some of the other popular classic shades such as “Lincoln Park After Dark” which are often spotted adorning the hands of A-Listers such as Charlize Theron, Rosario Dawson, Hillary Duff, Mischa Barton, Rachel Bilson, Fergie, and Lindsay Lohan.

BeansTalk: We noticed that Lincoln Park After Dark has made its way "west" to Hollywood from the Chicago Collection. Do west coast women pair up this shade with a different style of dress?

Suzi Weiss-Fischmann: Each season I present a geographic based collection with fun kitschy names, but the colors are inspired by the trends seen on the runway. Therefore the colors translate globally. The great thing about Lincoln Park After Dark, is that the color has been embraced by all types of women from the urban sophisticate to the hip rocker chic.

BeansTalk: Was the Mexico Collection inspired by a memorable visit? the flowers of Mexico? the food? the dress? It seems to have a different mood than the deeper, darker tones which are also popular. Could you tell us more about that?

Suzi Weiss-Fischmann: I was inspired by the gorgeous hues seen in daily Mexican life – the hand-painted tiles with touches of cobalt, the brightly colored doorways, the muted shades of sun-baked pottery, the vivid embroidered blouses, the bold red chiles.

BeansTalk: The new introductions to the Designer Series really made a big impression on us! What feedback have you been getting on the new flat brushes? Will these become the new industry standard? Can you tell us a little bit more about the light reflecting qualities of diamond dust in nail lacquer?

Suzi Weiss-Fischmann: I have heard from industry professionals to the average consumer that the ProWide Brush is infinitely easier and better to use, providing better coverage with less streaks. The ProWide Brush is being implemented in all OPI lacquers, so yes, we are setting an industry standard. However, because the Brush is being patented, no other companies have the right to utilize the same brush. The breakthrough, Designer Series formula also combines precious, dazzling diamond dust with pigments so saturated with color that they glow, reflecting light in an explosion of brilliance and giving nails a never-before-seen dimension and luster. Designer Series Nail Lacquers are truly like jewels for your fingertips.

BeansTalk: Would you recommend that women save the Designer Series shades for "big events?" Can they be translated into a more casual look?

Suzi Weiss-Fischmann: I believe Designer Series is to nails what couture is to fashion. But as an extension to fashion, nails should express a person's mood, feeling and attitude. So if a woman wants to wear Designer Series for everyday, I say go for it.

BeansTalk extends our thanks to Ms. Weiss-Fischmann for taking the time to contribute to our story.
