Leonor Greyl: Euro Hair Care

As we mentioned in an earlier piece about our impressive new T3 Tourmaline Featherlight Hair Dryer, we have a vested interested in our hair. Then again, who doesn’t? Right now we’re using a new product featured at the Showtime Emmy Suites. So far, so good.

We have a couch that Brad Pitt allegedly custom-ordered and then decided he didn’t want and now we’re using the hair products that he allegedly uses.

Here’s the 411 on this brand that’ll soon get full exposure in the U.S.

Leonor Greyl received the Prize of Excellence by Marie Claire in 1999 for the brand, the Prize of Consumers and the Cosmetic News Oscar given by the professionals in the same year. Leonor Greyl offers hair treatments containing natural ingredients, delicate aromas and plant extracts

These are the Leonor Greyl products we’re using right now

Leonor Greyl - Bain TS (Balances Oily Scalp & dry ends)

Balancing shampoo for oily scalp dry ends. It’s functional without any specific curative action. BAIN TS has been created in order to rid the scalp of sebum excess and normalize hair without damaging it. The vegetal extracts contain and soothe all irritations caused by foaming agents and reduce excessive perspiration. This usually causes an increase of the sebum deposit on the hair. In case of a very oily scalp also use the treatment Concentré Energétique

-Shampoo for oily to very oily hair
-Balancing shampoo for oily scalp and dry ends
-Ensures hygiene of the scalp without damaging the hair.
-Reconditions damaged ends.
-Gives volume

How to use: Use as a shampoo but in small quantities (10 ml per shampoo). Net Weight: 7 oz. Ingredients: Vegetal extracts: wheat germ oil, lime and chamomile for their soothing properties, and yeast for it’s antiseborrheic properties, Anionic washing agents, Cationic conditioning agents $25

Leonor Greyl - Creme Regeneratrice (For dry hair & split ends)

Conditioner for very dry damaged hair. Instantly treats dry or sensitive hair. The seaweed extracts help in untangling. The film forming proteins fix themselves to the hair's keratin, giving back shine and helping in styling.

Untangles, softens and helps the styling.
Gives back shine.
Covers the hair with a natural protective film.
Does not weigh the hair down.

How to use: Apply on moist, clean hair after the shampoo or treatment. Apply a small amount of product to the lengths and ends. For untangling the hair, leave in for 3 minutes and rinse well.
Net Weight: 3.5 oz. Ingredients: Copra, Seaweed extracts , Vegetal extracts, Lanolin, Film forming proteins $30.00 pad

Leonor Greyl - Huile de Palme (For Dry Hair, protects from sun & water)

Waterproof protection at the beach. Hair softening treatment for sensitive or dry hair, damaged by tinting, bleaching, perms or straightening. Softens the hair, gives shine and easy styling. Waterproof protection at the beach. Hair softening treatment for sensitive or dry hair, damaged by tinting, bleaching, perms or straightening. Softens the hair, gives shine and easy styling.

How to use: Cover the full length of hair with a small amount of product before a shampooing or a desired treatment. Extend it to the ends with a brush.

As A Protection In Sea Water Or At The Pool
After recreational bathing, wash out the product with Douceur Végétale or Shampoo au Miel for normal hair. Use the Crème aux Fleurs if your hair is dry or sensitive.

As A Softening Treatment
Use Crème aux Fleurs on dry hair. In this case, apply a pearl of Huile de Palme in your hands and apply to the lengths and ends, then brush.
When the brush passes easily, apply Crème aux Fleurs strip by strip at the scalp.
Massage to thoroughly spread the product.
Leave in for 15 minute, then massage through hair again.
Emulsify with a small quantity of water.
Repeat the operation until you have a foaming effect and rinse thoroughly.
Crème aux Fleurs is a washing cream, and it replaces shampoo.

As A Treatment For Dry To Very Dry Hair
Apply on dry hair to the lengths and ends and leave in for 15 minutes. Then rinse with the shampoo appropriate to your hair type.

Wire in the Blood Returns

Robson Green Returns For A Fourth Season Of Wire In The Blood
BBC AMERICA co-produces a new season

Robson Green (Rocketman, Reckless) stars as Dr. Tony Hill in Wire in the Blood, based on Val McDermid’s best-selling novels. Whatever Tony’s trying to crack — Internet chat rooms, a deadly hypnotist, suicide cults, or DNA evidence — it’s riveting to watch this unassuming, fanatical clinical psychologist think. The way he answers a question from eight minutes ago, talks loudly to himself and doesn’t even notice he’s standing in a downpour is enough to make his colleagues crazy. But it’s all part of a brilliant process that’s impossible to explain — especially to detectives who want facts, not theories. Although Tony is one of the best profilers in the business, he’s often conflicted about his work and abilities. And this season, an old flame, the loss of a patient and the fear his tumor has returned will bring Tony straight to the edge. Wire in the Blood premieres Monday, October 2, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

In the first episode, Tony’s credibility is questioned when a rapist he helped convict is released on appeal. Things get even worse when Tony learns that Carol, the police detective he worked with, has left the force for South Africa, and her replacement, Alex Fielding (Simone Lahbib, Monarch of the Glen, Bad Girls), doesn’t want Tony anywhere near her case load.

When the body of a young woman is found in a barrel buried in a field, Alex believes the murder is isolated, but Tony is convinced that this body is linked to several cases of missing persons involving young women. He can’t prove it, but his theory is they were all lured to their deaths by a serial killer posting messages on a sado-masochistic internet site, where their own fantasies are being used against them. A battle ensues as Alex tries to shake Tony off as he doggedly pursues the case. Alex even threatens to have him arrested if he doesn’t stop snooping around. But if Tony stops, a young woman is more likely to die. Will Tony be able to convince Alex he can be trusted before it’s too late?

What The British Press Said:

“One of the best of the current generation of TV crime thrillers…” Financial Times

“… Green has matured into a first-class actor. His role as neurotic, obsessive criminal psychologist Dr. Tony Hill brings out the best in him.” Daily Express

“Wire in the Blood turned out to be brisk, creepy, unusually well characterized and directed with a good deal of style. Robson Green was especially impressive.” Sunday Telegraph

“Could this be the new Cracker? This is certainly a promising start.” Evening Standard

“… refreshingly quirky and unusually edgy.” The Times

“Robson Green should be congratulated. Wire in the Blood, was shocking in every respect yet not once did I reach for the remote control. This was a far slicker killer thriller than any I have encountered before - I watched every second.” Sunday Mirror

Episode Synopses

Episode one

Tony Hill is having problems. A rapist convicted years ago, as a result of Tony’s first forensic psychological profile, is released on appeal and Tony is discredited. Carol won’t return his calls offering to help police investigations after a body is found in a barrel buried in a field. And his therapist thinks he’s resisting treatment because he clings to the dark side of his psyche.

Things get worse when Tony realizes that Carol has gone — left the Bradfield force for South Africa without even telling him. And her successor, Alex, doesn’t want Tony and his serial killer theory anywhere near her work. Alex assumes the body in the field is the dead wife of convicted matricidal farmer Darren. But then another body is found, a catalogue of girls going missing under similar circumstances emerges and Alex begins to realize Tony’s theory could be right after all.

A battle ensues as Alex tries to shake Tony off but he doggedly pursues the case. Tony realizes the missing young women are being lured via a sado-masochistic internet site. Their own fantasies are being preyed on by a killer who uses them until boredom sets in, and then discards them for the next victim. To catch the perpetrator Tony must tap in to his own dark fantasies and Alex must discard her prejudices to help him unlock a macabre final twist as they race to save the latest kidnapped girl.

Episode one premieres Monday, October 2, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Episode two

Police are baffled when a prostitute’s murder matches in every detail a series of killings for which Derek Tyler has already been caught and jailed. Tony knows it can’t be a copycat, because in sexual homicides every killer has their own unique signature. But if this isn’t someone imitating Tyler’s atrocities than how are the killings happening at all? While Alex and her team struggle for a lead on the streets, Tony thinks Tyler holds the key. But there’s a problem — Tyler has remained utterly mute since the day he was arrested and, to crack him, Tony has to use every ounce of his psychological skill and imagination.

Tensions develop within the police operation as the vice-squad Detective Inspector disagrees with Alex’s running of the case. And things go disastrously wrong when one of the detectives becomes bait for the killer and is kidnapped without trace.

All the experts have diagnosed Tyler as a schizophrenic who heard imaginary voices telling him to kill. But Tony realizes that Tyler’s inner “voice” was a real one. He is the victim of brainwashing — and whoever controlled him is now controlling another killer and has their colleague, Paula, within their power. When it becomes clear that whoever is doing this has access to information about the police investigation, Tony confronts his one and only suspect and is almost killed in the process. Will his intervention save both Paula’s life and Alex’s career?

Episode two premieres Monday, October 9, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Episode three

Saving student Kurt from leaping to his death makes Tony ponder why someone might want to take their own life. He’d like to help Kurt feel better, but Kurt doesn’t stick around in therapy long enough to debate the issue. He disappears to hook up with a new group of “friends” and Tony is left feeling inadequate.

Meanwhile a businessman and his accountant die in a horrible fire — apparently victims of deliberate arson. Were they murdered by jealous partners? There seems no reason for the deaths. But these are not the last pair of corpses found in Bradfield, and Alex turns to Tony for help. Masonic symbolism leads the investigation to a local lodge but to no avail. Then Tony makes a breakthrough — the ways in which each of the pairs of victims has died bears uncanny resemblance to the deaths of Christian saints. This is a suicide cult. Someone is breeding murderous martyrs and the deaths will continue until Tony and Alex find the source.

A local vicar with links to many of the victims looks the most likely candidate, but when he kills himself, Tony realizes he’s merely an ordinary cult member sacrificing himself to show his loyalty — and remorse. He builds a profile of the true leader for Alex and her team and piecing together the ways in which the cult members were recruited enables them to arrest their man.

For a moment the team are jubilant, but then Tony realizes that the group of new “friends” Kurt has found is actually a murderous cabal. Kurt must be found and stopped before he uses his knowledge of biochemistry to wreak havoc. Tony has to use every skill he has as a therapist to save the day.

Episode three premieres Monday, October 16, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Episode four

Tony’s first case with the police comes back to haunt him when Jason Eglee, convicted of murder on Tony’s evidence, comes up for parole. Jason appears to be a reformed character after years of therapy in prison, but Tony’s not convinced. He manages to sway the board to his view, until Eglee’s distraught mother attacks him before collapsing and dying. To the press and public Tony has blood on his hands, and Eglee is released as a compassionate gesture.

When a girl is murdered in the same circumstances as Eglee’s former victim, Tony is in no doubt that Eglee is starting a new spree. But Eglee has a cast iron alibi in the form of his therapist Ozick — who has tapes of their session on the night of the murder. Even worse, when Eglee is persuaded to give a blood sample, he’s found to be innocent — the DNA evidence from over ten years ago does not match his.

Tony’s confidence begins to crumble and, as pro-Eglee reporter hounds him for an expose, Alex decides she can no longer permit him to work for the police. Life gets even worse when he encounters old flame Karen — intent on trying to restart their relationship and so unstable that Tony’s rejection is devastating. Now even Tony feels guilty and fears he has lost the empathic perception on which he relies.

But although everyone has lost faith in Tony, his acuity hasn’t deserted him. As the murderer gears up to take another victim, Tony suddenly realizes how the killer was able to take on a double identity and also create a false alibi. Now all Tony has to do is persuade Alex to believe him so they can catch the killer before another young woman dies.

Episode four premieres Monday, October 23, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Interview With Robson Green

On how the four latest are the best – and scariest – episodes yet:

“I feel that this series is our strongest so far, and we are always pushing the budget so each episode has a filmic quality. I am very proud of it, and I hope our viewers will be terrified and intrigued by it. One of the episodes is full of religious imagery – hanging, beheading and drowning with a millstone around the neck. The killer is someone who’s besotted with the artist Caravaggio. Like the slaying of John the Baptist, whose head was served on a plate, this is how one of the victims ends up. It’s full of symbolism and it’s like a feature film in the way it’s shot and lit. But when Michael, the actor, turned his head round on the plate and said, ‘hello Robson’ it was terrifying! It’s nightmarish stuff and I was a bit scared to pick up the new scripts because of what they might reveal. But the feedback we’ve had from around the world is that people enjoy being scared by the films and want us to push the boundaries a little bit further, without being gratuitous of course. Our aim, through the writing, performances, design and effects, is to create a chilling atmosphere.”

On doing a series based on serial killings:

“Murder is destructive, dark and horrible. The consequences are visually unpleasant. Our program is fictional, but what we have to say is important. As long as it’s not a gore fest, we don’t shy away from the reality of what we’re talking about, which is destructive behavior. I don’t go around celebrating the violence but I enjoy experiencing the reasons why people behave as they do. It’s an interesting learning curve for me – the most educational piece I’ve ever been part of.”

On the new character, DI Alex Fielding, played by Simone Lahbib:

“She really doesn’t want him on board but in the end thanks him for being there. Tony and Alex have to learn to trust each other and work together to solve the murders and their new relationship brings a new energy and warmth to the series.”

On his soft-treading hero, Dr. Tony Hill:

“Tony’s far more outside the university now and more involved in the police work, as a volunteer. But he’s on the periphery. When the crime is solved he disappears. He’s never applauded for what he does and he doesn’t stand out in a crowd. Just like a surgeon who performs something profound in hospital or someone who’s carried out an amazing engineering feat. You wouldn’t look at them twice.”

On the appeal of Wire in the Blood:

“I can understand why it is a very successful program because its themes are universal and what Tony has to say is very interesting. It’s unusual though, because he’s a clumsy character, not your clichéd lead. He travels to work on a bicycle and has his life in a blue polythene bag.”

On his hobby, organic gardening:

“I’ve got a greenhouse with melons, eggplants, marrows, peppers and chili. I have a real thing about it and I hate it when a plant dies – life in the fast lane, eh!”

Scientific Skincare

Dr. Gregory Bays Brown created the skincare line – RéVive.

Brown established a laboratory to conduct a two-million dollar study on healing severe wounds of burn victims. In his research, he discovered a bioengineered molecule called EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) -that when applied to burns and wounds, dramatically accelerated healing in all patients tested.

Brown had a revelation: this was the same molecule that regenerated aging skin. He was compelled to apply the same intensive scientific attention to skincare. He set up a laboratory within the burn research unit convinced that the only way to obtain the fluid-filled skin of youth was at the molecular level -with EGF. He proved that in a cream form, he could give women what they really want: the vibrant skin of their youth.

Brown was the first doctor and scientist to apply the bioengineered version of EGF into skincare. The discovery of EGF went on to win a Nobel Prize in 1986. His findings were published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1989. He won the cosmetic patent for EGF in 1994. Through perseverance, Brown launched RéVive to the public in 1997.

“I’ve been using RéVive on patients since 1991,” says Brown. “I was able to show real results objectively with biopsies to prove we increased cell turnover. There is nothing surgically that can do what RéVive does -to give you that dewy-glow and luscious, youthful skin. There is no single magic bullet in aging but we can already delay plastic surgery with RéVive products. If you use it religiously, RéVive will decrease the magnitude of the surgical procedure needed.”

RéVive line is based on one irrefutable fact: in your 20’s skin regenerates every two to three weeks (i.e. skin cells turn over regularly to expose fresh new skin underneath the dead top layer of skin cells). As we age skin regeneration slows to eight or nine weeks. Dead cells gather on the surface, look worn out, and contribute to dull dry looking skin. Alternatively, new cells with quick life cycles produce fresh and radiant skin and improve skin quality and tone.

RéVive speeds up skin cells on a molecular level how the molecules work.

The Formula / EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor)
At the heart of RéVive Sensitif Cellular Repair and Moisturizing Renewal Creams is the highly active EGF molecule (Epidermal Growth Factor). It is released in the body when there is an injury and when applied to aging skin can restore luminosity. Made of 53 amino acids, Dr. Brown combined it into creams that produce small miracles. Only RéVive has this technology and it works to bring the ‘RéVive glow’ to the face within days.

IGF (Insulin-like Growth Factor)
IGF firms and strengthens the underlying collagen to thicken the dermis. IGF prevents sagging and plumps fine lines and is called the youth molecule because it actually boosts collagen production and re-juices the skin.

KGF (Keratinocyte Growth Factor)
KGF is the newest most potent molecule yet. KGF works specifically to increase facial volume – a subtle loss over decades that dramatically ages the face. KGF can potentially fill the creases, lift the sag, and tighten the droop. “This is the first product to address volume,” says Dr. Brown.

KGF achieves results never before possible in skincare because it doesn_t just speed up skin cell turnover (8 times faster!) but halts DNA fragmentation to prevent cells from spinning out of control. KGF has a quick response and enhances skins fluidity in days.

MPI
MPI slows signs of aging by inhibiting the loss of skin’s natural elasticity and collagen levels. MPI rebuilds broken capillaries and significantly diminishes fine lines, sun damage, and rosacea.

GLOSSARY

EGF [Epidermal Growth Factor]: A naturally occurring protein molecule that dramatically increases skin cell regeneration and whose important discovery warranted a 1986 Nobel Prize.

SOD [Superoxide Dismutase]: One of the most powerful preventative antioxidants available. Dominant in white blood cells, it purifies skin’s surface of the environmental impurities and free radicals that age and pollute the skin.

Exfoliants [Glycolic]: Organic acids that remove the dead outer layer of skin allowing regenerated cells to rise to the surface. An acid base intensifies EGF’s ability to ‘retexturize’ the skin and achieve the RéVive glow.

Firming Agents: Organic compounds that maintain the skin’s natural elasticity and resist the daily pull of gravity.

DeVito, Potter Dine at “Color”ful B.H. Restaurant

Actors Danny DeVito and Monica Potter both were at Barbara Lockhart's Colors on Bedford restaurant on Thursday, August 24, 2006, although they were at separate tables.

DeVito power lunched with an industry couple. The trio ate the Seared Ahi Tuna Salad, Wood-Oven Cooked Burgers and Seared Ahi Tuna Salad. DeVito is a Colors regular.

Potter brought one of her sons, her new baby and her husband Daniel Allison. They ate Mac & Cheese, Seared Ahi Tuna Salad, BLT Panini Sandwiches and Wood-Oven Cooked Burgers. Potter told the server, “this restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and the food is superb!”

BTW, BeansTalk loves Monica Potter and thinks Potter’s what Julia Roberts wishes she would be. In fact, Potter has similar facial features and voice, but without the Southern Twang. Potter married at 19 to Tom Potter (they’re now divorced) and she had two sons, Liam and David, with him. She’s been married since June of last year to Daniel Christopher Allison, an orthopedic surgeon. The couple had their first child, and Potter’s first daughter, Molly Brigid Allison, on August 3, 2005. Anyway, she’s probably very happy right where she is, but we think she’s a little under the radar. The other difference between her and Roberts is that Potter is an excellent actress. She just hasn’t had the opportunity to really show her chops off. She had a brief stint on ABC’s “Boston Legal.” Check out her “The Very Thought of You” (at least, that’s what it was called in the U.S.). She was also in “I’m With Lucy,” “Along Came a Spider,” “Head Over Heels” and Robin Williams’ “Patch Adams” and “Saw.” See what we mean by not being able to demonstrate her talents?

Meanwhile, the food sounds awfully good at this restaurant. We may try it some day.

T3 For Tresses

We’re all about our hair, so we’re always on the lookout for something that will make our hair look good. That’s why we love our ghd flat irons (and our Gail Johnson one, too). We just tried a new dryer, the T3 Tourmaline that is awesome. We cannot tell you how FAST it dried our hair and made it feel all good and healthy.

Here's what they say: Imagine a blow dryer that's actually good for your hair? You plug it in, and rather than blasting your strands with damaging heat for the better part of the next hour, you're done in half the time and your hair is hydrated, full of shine, and all the more healthier? Whether you want sleek, poker-straight strands or soft, sexy waves, pulling off either has never been easier or faster if you're armed with a T3. Infused with crushed tourmaline, a semi-precious stone that has unique electrical properties, this innovative line of blow dryers, flat irons, and diffusers is taking hair styling to an entirely new level.

WHAT IT IS:
The brainchild of a Silicon Valley whiz kid, the T3 Tourmaline Professional Ionic Hair Dryer is the future of hair drying, delivering the fastest heat styling physically possible—without damaging your hair. This super quiet, lightweight (it weighs in at less than a pound), state-of-the-art styling tool contains 100 percent crushed tourmaline gemstones, which are infused throughout the hair dryer in a patented process that's specifically designed to significantly speed-up your drying time. With the T3 Tourmaline Professional Ionic Hair Dryer, a 20-minute blow dry can be as fast as five minutes (depending on hair length and texture), cutting your routine by more than half.

HOW IT WORKS:
Tourmaline is a semi-precious gemstone that's loved by jewelers for its kaleidoscopic range of hues, and revered by scientists for its remarkable electrical properties—when heated, tourmaline takes on a natural negative charge. The T3 Tourmaline Professional Ionic Hair Dryer utilizes these naturally produced, negative ions to split large water droplets into smaller molecules that immediately evaporate, thus drying the hair quicker, sparing the cuticles from excessive heat exposure and locking in moisture and shine. Plus, it uses infrared heat waves to gently dry the hair from the inside out. The result: Your hair dries four times faster than with a conventional dryer, free of static and frizz, and full of body and shine.

WHY YOU NEED IT:
PDA's, cell phones, wireless Internet: Modern technology has simplified our lives. Finally simplifying our beauty routine is the T3 Tourmaline Professional Ionic Hair Dryer, $200 (tourmaline is one pricey gem). The highest-tech hair dryer on the market, this lightweight dryer has an extra long cord, a swivel base, and a super quiet blow. Plus, it's so gentle you can use it every day since damage will never be an issue. High speed, featherweight, and healthy for the hair, this hair dryer will revolutionize your morning routine. Now, what to do with those extra 15 minutes?

TRAVEL MADE SPEEDY—AND EASY
Aside from simplifying your routine, this revolutionary hair dryer is simplifying travel, too. The T3 Tourmaline Professional Ionic Hair Dryer for Travel, $130, dries hair nearly as fast as its big sister and is equally as featherweight, but is collapsible for easy traveling and comes equipped with a universal adapter that works on power outlets worldwide. Not to mention, its super-fast styling leaves more time for sightseeing—and sure beats the hotel dryer.

This is the one we have

Tourmaline Professional Ionic Hair Dryer for Travel

Tourmaline Professional Ionic Hair Dryer for Travel delivers the performance and innovation of the 'T3 Featherweight' dryer in a compact, globe-trotting size. It dries hair quickly and safely, and with a static-free finish by utilizing the same breakthrough technologies that have made T3 dryers such a success. Forget hotel dryers! Now, your hair can always look great - even while traveling the world.

Other benefits include:
-Tourmaline, a semi-precious mineral, is infused into the dryer itself
-Tourmaline is an unsurpassed emitter of negative ions & infrared heat
-This manufacturing process is proprietary and patented
-Negative ions deliver a smooth, shiny, silky, frizz-free finish
-Negative ions seals the cuticle to protect hair, locking in its moisture and color
-Infrared heat penetrates deeper to enable quick, safe drying

Special Features:
-Swivel handle design
-Utilizes both Tourmaline negative ion technology and far infrared heat
-Dual voltage (110V or 220V)
-48-month comprehensive manufacture's warranty
-1200-watts of power
-Compact and collapsible for easy storage and travel
-Suitable for use the world over - with appropriate plug adaptor (not included)

$130 at Sephora and sephora.com. Also at Nordstrom.com and Nordstroms. The featherlight dryer retails for $200; the Evolution T3 (professional grade) retails for $300.

Onna Erlich at Showtime’s Emmy Suite

We dropped by the Cooley Mansion, which not only used to be the home of Vivian Vance (you know her as Ethel Mertz), but was the location for the super popular Showtime Emmy Suites.

We love these bags by Onna Erlich. We have a coin purse. Our goal is to get the real thing. Check out the one Cote De Pablo is carrying. Look how happy she is! We want to be that happy! (OK, we’ve now just looked at the website, at the bag we covet and sadly, we cannot afford it. But you know what? We can dream.)

Thekla Reuten (Sleeper Cell), image right, with her Onna Ehrlich make-up bag/coin purse, can also be used as a clutch.

Cote De Pablo (NCIS), image above left, carrying an Onna Ehrlich handbag www.onnaehrlich.com

Here’s what their website says about the designer:

Onna Ehrlich burst on the fashion scene in 2004 with a unique accessory line inspired by her African roots. From handbags made with vibrant, lush leathers to unbelievable snake skin belts, Ehrlich was able to take her Nigerian heritage and combine it with the laid back sophistication of California.

Her collection is constantly evolving, but it always includes handbags made from carefully chosen fabrics, luscious soft leathers from Europe and Africa. In less than two years, Onna has quickly become a designer to watch, in addition to features in fashion and design magazines, she also has a growing bevy of fashionable celebrity clients like Halle Berry.

The graduate of the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California is also concerned about her homeland and donates a portion of the proceeds from the Onna Ehrlich collection to Amnesty International and The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

Marah Lago Gifts Stars

Marah Lago's designs were popular at the Marah Lago Larimar Boutique at the Showtime Pre Emmy Gift House held August 25 & 26 at the Cooley Estate Los Angeles, California.

BeansTalk can vouch for how popular they were – we barely got to get the dish on the line from the creator. Celebs were crowding around. We heard that Grey’s Anatomy star Isaiah Washington was there with his wife and got a kick out of P.R. rep Doris Bergman’s love of True Crime, the film he did with Clint Eastwood. She chronicled his crucial scenes with such detail, we think she won him over.

Meanwhile, Desperate Housewives may have been locked out of the Emmys, but that doesn’t mean the stars are shut-off from great gifts.

Marcia Cross chose a Marah Lago Sterling Silver and 18K Gold Vermeil Larimar Stone necklace from the Link Collection to take home along with matching earrings and a ring from the same collection. She's seen in the image right at the booth. Cross may not look as thrilled as she actually was, getting that beautiful jewelry with its super rare stone.

(In another incarnation, BeansTalk once spent the day with Cross -- interviewing her -- when she played yet another kind of crazy, on Melrose Place. Frankly, we found her a little frosty. Or, that could be just her public persona. We'll buy that in person she's warm and cuddly. Or at least lukewarm.)

Emmy-winner Blythe Danner chose a sterling silver multi-stone necklace and matching earrings. www.marahlago.com

Office Star Gets Peeved

Brian Baumgartner from the Emmy-winning “The Office,” with a Pet Peeves TM plush doll at the Hearts on Fire Diamond Indulgence Lounge which pampered celebs pre-show.

Pet Peeves TM, located in Los Angeles, California, was founded in 2006 by a team of industry executives, with experience in consumer products and development. Pet Peeves TM introduced products capturing little irritations and funny social/personal interactions, allowing people to vent and laugh at everyday aggravations.

Everyone has at least one thing that really irks them -- call them complaints, grievances or “Pet Peeves TM” -- they are the things that pop up throughout the day that drive you crazy. To learn America’s “Pet Peeves TM,” the company had a market research company, TNS NFO, conduct a nationwide online survey of more than 1000 consumers. The results found that telemarketing registered as an issue with 86% of the respondents; while grouches, tailgating and poor service were problematic for more than 80% of the people. Additional complaints included; late people (59%), being ignored (58%), cell phone abusers (56%) and messy people (39%).

The first product line of eight plush Pet Peeves™ have embroidered messages that express daily annoyances.

Hear Me Heather™ helps someone say, “Being Ignored Turns Me Off!” when she’s placed on a desk, in the kitchen, or given as a gift. In addition to Hear Me Heather™, there are seven other messengers:

Cheerful Chris™ states “Grouches Get My Goat!”
Neat Nick™ exclaims, “A Mess Makes Me Crazy!”
Do-Not-Call Dan™ says, “Telemarketing Gets On My Nerves!”
Hang Up Hank™ lets the world know, “Cell Phones Make Me Scream!”
Timely Tim™ chimes in with, “Late People Tick Me Off!”
Back Off Brittany™ screeches, “Tailgating Drives Me Over the Edge!”
Help Me Madison™ complains, “Bad Service Makes Me Bananas!”

The company added a new character line. From the SnailpacerTM who is always late, to the CellephantTM who continually yaks on his cell phone. When you give an IgnorillaTM to someone in your life, it can serve as a gentle reminder to listen when you speak. Additional characters include the Clutterhog™ who is messy and proud of it!

Pet Peeves TM are currently available at bookstores, gift, specialty, retail and drug stores nationwide, and on the web at: www.mypetwpeeves.com. Launching this fall www.mypetpeeves.com will introduce a social networking webtainment site and “home” for consumers to express, share, laugh and find solutions to their everyday annoyances and irritating experiences. Addressing consumers’ desires to express their own personalized irritations, www.mypetpeeves.com ,will allow consumers to create their own Pet Peeves™. The site will also provide Plogs™ (Pet Peeves’ proprietary blogs) for visitors to above all else “express” their frustrations, and even e-cards that can be sent to a friend or family member. www.mypetpeeves.com will be a destination for the modern consumer.

Chiklis Parties, Disrupts Neighborhood

BeansTalk hears that Michael Chiklis and his family had been planning their Emmy party at their home in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley (Sherman Oaks) for at least a week. Our source tells us the party was "rocking." But unfortunately, the source (who experienced it first hand) says there was loud, concert-level music until midnight. If you recall, Emmy night was on a Sunday night and many kids have gone back to school.

“Many famous voices were heard singing. The crowd was huge and one of the LA Tour Groups buses were used to drop off invitees. Formal wear, of course. Activity still going on the next morning. Another bus ready to take people to the Emmys,” the source added.

Not So Neighborly Commish: Chiklis’ neighbors were miffed, not only that Chiklis didn’t send out courtesy notices/flyers that the party was going to take place Emmy night, but that they were subjected to all that noise and activity and illegal parking and they were not invited to the party. Come on, Michael “The Thing” Chiklis, you know the way to keep your neighborhood peeps not unhappy with you is to not act like a diva movie star. Be considerate!

Jay Gets Iced

That's our favorite favorite super-duper shoe store manager Jay Laird of Stuart Weitzman Beverly Hills (you can find him, and our other good buddy, Sandy, at Stuart Weitzman's flagship store on 437 N Rodeo Dr Beverly Hills, CA 90210 (310) 860-9600). Nicolette Sheridan, she the amazon of "Desperate Housewives" found comfort in the lap of luxury (that's Jay's) at the Iced Out Emmy Suites (we didn't attend those; we weren't invited). This photo first appeared on Elizabeth Snead's The Envelope, btw. We can't resist the photo. It looks a little bit like a guess ad and a little bit like shopping for the prom. Jay, btw, is very blond and not red-headed as he may appear here.

Wedding White: Hilton in Sue Wong and More

Doesn't Paris Hilton look angelic in this Sue Wong frock, seen right?

Speaking of angelic, Paris Hilton, right in the photo left, and her sister Nicky Hilton pose together at the HBO post-Emmy Awards party in West Hollywood, Calif., Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006. (AP Photo/Chris Pizzello).

We are more than ever convinced that Nicky has a cub Connelly bun in the oven. Allegedly. Allegedly.

The usually sleeky garbed Nicky has been wearing, we thinks, way too many baby-doll dresses and/or tops. We loved them in the late 80s, early 90s and would still be wearing them if we could find them, but we also think that Nicky might be trying to use them as a concealer until she and her beau, Entourage star Kevin Connelly make some kind of official announcement. She may seem young to you (she sure does to us) but then, their mother Kathy (then) Richards was still in her teens when she married Rick Hilton, so that would make Nicky older than her own mother when she becomes a first-time mom (whenever that might be).

To Wit: Bump or No?

Photos above of Nicky Hilton taken 14 August, 18 August and 19 August 2006. Suddenly, she's all not into the sleek and fitted. Maybe she's into being comfortable. We mean, look at the black negligee on the far left. She can take it from party to bed (just throw off those peek-a-boo pumps). We just want to be sure she's washing her face well and moisturizing afterwards.

Mine-to-Market Concept

1700 Ocean Jewelers
Romancing the Stone: Making Sure that people and the earth are treated with respect

Celebrities who associate their names to a product have grown more conscious about the origins of what they are promoting – and, as any person should be – are growing more concerned about where it came from, who made it and, by removing any natural element of that country/locale was anything disrupted?

Jewelry designers Earl Allen and Debra Savage of 1700 Ocean in Santa Monica California adopted the criteria of Fair Trade Gems based on these legitimate and compassionate concerns.

Fair Trade Gems wants to know how their stones are mined, but who involved in all aspects of the production. Fair Trade Gems devised a comprehensive list of questions that must be answered before they engage in any kind of contractual agreement.

Questions posed include:

Are their workers being paid a fair wage?

Are their working conditions healthy and safe?

Are they invested in countries where their very presence could elevate the risk of violent conflict?

Are they engaging in environmentally healthy practices?

Fair Trade Gems are closely tracked from mine to market to ensure every gem has been handled according to strict protocols. The protocols include environmental protection, fair labor practices at the cutting and jewelry factories, and a tight chain of custody that eliminates the possibility of treated gems or synthetics being introduced into the supply chain. The program also includes promotion of cultural diversity, and public education and accountability.

"In addition to supporting employees and taking care of the environment, protecting the quality and integrity of the product is very important," explains Columbia Gem House President Eric Braunwart. "It extends the protection of the Fair Trade Gems program to consumers, who deserve to know exactly what they are buying."

This is what romancing the stone really means: making sure that people and the earth are treated with respect

All Fair Trade Gems are sold with complete enhancement disclosure: many will also be sold as untreated, since the chain of custody required by the program also confirms they have not been treated.
