Secret Smile on BBC
This summer BBC America offers a special block of two-part thrillers will run every Monday and Tuesday night from Memorial Day weekend through July 4th weekend and begins with Secret Smile. David Tennant (Viva Blackpool, Dr. Who) -- who BeansTalk loves, even though he looks too thin in the above photo -- stars as an aggressive and manipulative lover who cons his way into the life of a woman he met on a one-night stand. Desperate to save her family and friends, the woman must learn to outsmart her stalker in order to take him down. Secret Smile premieres Monday, May 29, 2006 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT and concludes Tuesday, May 30, 2006 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT.
Five more thrillers follow the premiere of Secret Smile. Lie with Me stars Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually) as a detective who lies under oath. In Frances Tuesday, a gangster’s lover (Tamzin Outhwaite, Red Cap) fakes her death to hide from her ruthless ex. Marian Again stars Samantha Beckinsale as a temptress who has a family man seeing double. Toby Stephens (The Queen’s Sister) and Richard Coyle (The Libertine) co-star in Best Man, where best friends share a dark secret. The Innocent completes the line-up, starring Caroline Quentin (Men Behaving Badly) as a woman who must choose between her husband and her best friend when a serious accusation is made.

Episode one – Secret Smile
David Tennant stars as an aggressive and manipulative lover who cons his way into the life of Miranda (Kate Ashfield, Pollyanna), a woman he met on a one-night stand. Desperate to save her family and friends, Miranda must learn to outsmart her stalker in order to take him down.

Episode two – Lie with Me
Ros (Eve Best, Shackleton) wakes from a drugged sleep and finds that she’s been assaulted and her roommate killed. Investigating detective Will Tomlinson (Andrew Lincoln), tries to piece together what happened and finds himself falling for Ros. When a suspect is found and brought to court, Ros and Will both lie under oath to secure a conviction - but perjury has unexpected and unwelcome consequences. It is based on the best-selling book by Tony Strong.
Lie with Me premieres Monday, June 5, 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT and concludes Tuesday, June 6, 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT.
Episode three – Frances Tuesday
When Frances West (Tamzin Outhwaite), a high profile accountant, learns the truth about her boyfriend Lucas and his gangland connections, she makes the difficult and dangerous move to abandon him, her career and glamorous social life. With him behind bars, she enters an extreme witness protection program, staging her own death and enduring facial reconstruction to become Frances Tuesday. But Frances has left a baby daughter behind in her old life and fears for her safety when Lucas is released from prison. Protected — or so she thinks — by her new identity, Frances tries to penetrate Lucas’ inner circle to get her child back.

Episode four – Marian Again
Chris Bishop's (Stephen Tompkinson, Brassed Off) contented family life is torn apart when he bumps into Marian (Kelly Harrison, Casualty), his former girlfriend, who disappeared — presumed dead — fifteen years ago. However, the woman denies any knowledge of Chris and his obsessive quest to discover where Marian has been and what happened to her, leads him and his family into danger.
Marian Again premieres Monday, June 19, 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT and concludes Tuesday, June 20, 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT.
Episode five – Best Man
Peter (Toby Stephens) and Michael (Richard Coyle) are best friends who share a dark past. Then Kate (Keeley Hawes, Tipping the Velvet) arrives on the scene and unwittingly comes between the pair when she falls in love with Michael. But why is Peter so furious that Michael has found his soul mate? When the mysterious events of the past start to impinge on the present, Kate finds herself confronting the terrifying secret that binds Peter and Michael's obsessive, destructive relationship.

Episode six – The Innocent
In this gripping drama, a happily married housewife is devastated when her husband is accused of rape. Beth (Caroline Quentin, Jonathan Creek, Men Behaving Badly) wants to believe in her husband, but the accuser is her best friend, Alison. She is forced to accept her husband's infidelity in order to stand by him in the trial, but she’s not convinced the courtroom will reveal the whole story and embarks on her own search for the truth. Is her husband a cheat, or is he a violent criminal?
