The winners of the 2004 Directors Guild of America Outstanding Directorial Achievement Awards and the recipients of the DGA's 2005 Career Achievement Awards were announced at the 57th Annual DGA Awards Dinner at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

A True Classic: Get Scootin'

It's back. The classic PX 150 Vespa.

To celebrate the reintroduction of one of the greatest scooters in history, Piaggio USA Inc., manufacturer of the world-famous Vespa motor scooter, is releasing a limited edition 500 numbered Vespa PX units into the U.S. The PX 150 “Serie America” comes in a vintage green with a metal plaque by the glove box stamped with one number of 500 and a historical PX book. This classic model with the pressed steel monocoque frame, single cylinder two-stroke engine and manual four-speed gear change can be purchased at Vespa stores nationwide.

Twenty-seven years and two million units since its launch, the Vespa PX remains a cult scooter, a symbol of Italian style everywhere in the world, and the single most widely sold Vespa in history. It is the only Vespa that has remained in production for more than 20 years and has been present on the list of best selling vehicles for over a quarter of a century. For those who want a classic Vespa, it features the traditional four-speed gear shift on the handlebar and a classic design. The PX retains the strong points that have made it so successful: unique design, practicality and ease of use hardy steel frame, a reliable engine, space for a spare wheel and competitive pricing.

The Vespa’s pressed steel monocoque has always functioned as a load-bearing base. The PX keeps to this manufacturing tradition that no other scooter has and that guarantees rigidity and precise steering. The manual four-speed gearbox is an essential feature - anyone used to a PX will not give up riding control.

The PX 150 “Serie America” has a suggested retail price of $4,299. This model will not be available in the state of California due to CARB standard regulations. For more information on the PX 150 “Serie America” and its availability visit www.vespausa.com for a Vespa store near you or call 800-631-1101.

The Backstory: Manufactured by Piaggio in Tuscany, Italy, the first Vespa was designed by Corradino D'Ascanio in 1946 for Enrico Piaggio as a solution to transportation following the destruction of World War II. Combining the best elements of aeronautics, automobiles and motorcycles, it instantly became an icon of design and economy. In 2000, after a 15-year hiatus, the fabled Italian scooter returned to the United States to entice new generations with its efficient, entertaining and still nostalgic nature.

Piaggio USA is an active member of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) and encourages riders to always wear a helmet, appropriate eyewear and proper apparel. The company suggests that all scooter owners/operators attend a motorcycle/scooter rider-training course to learn how to safely and skillfully operate a Vespa and recommends the MSF RiderCourse (800/446-9227) as the best introduction to riding. For additional information, or to locate a Piaggio dealership in your area, visit the Web site at www.vespausa.com.

Matthew Broderick and Jerry Seinfeld are just a couple of the Vespa's celebrity fans.

Introducing: Beanstalk's Hollywood Hot Weekly Treatment Tip

Beanstalk's Hollywood Hot Weekly Treatment Tip:

Ah, we look like a hair-color ad. Shine, shine, shine. You gotta wear shades to look at us. BeansTalk had the surprisingly quick - and wonderfully effective I.S.H. (Incredibly Silky Hair) treatment, courtesy of I.S.H. founder, Nelson Chan, who works out of the Estetica salon in Beverly Hills. Chan, a reknown colorist (he’s championed the locks of Heather Graham and Sarah Michelle Gellar), explains that the treatment, and his Ionic Rescue products work with heat to counteract the positive charge of damaged hair, creating a balance that helps seal the cuticle.

"The greater the heat, the greater the boost hair receives," says Chan "I.S.H. is the first hair care company to adopt and apply this principle by offering a home system that conditions in various degrees according to the amount of heat applied. With increased heat, the conditioning elements can further penetrate the hair shaft to render benefits such as moisture, shine and silkiness, while combating dryness and brittleness."

In-salon Ionic Conditioning Treatment of I.S.H., a three-part process that relies on heat to activate the moisturizing ingredient, is available at more than 1,000 salons in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.

The line contains no artificial fragrances. For more information, visit ISHprofessional.com or to find a salon near you that does the treatment: (800) 429-0989.

Beanstalk's Hollywood Hot Weekly Treatment Tip is a new, once-weekly feature of the daily BeansTalk Biz newsletter and appears online during the weekend. We'’ll feature new or just newsworthy beauty treatments, giving a snap to the beauty professionals who put the star in Hollywood starlet.

Directed by David Yates ("State of Play," "Sex Traffic" and the upcoming fifth installment of the Harry Potter film series), the film stars Bill Nighy ("Love Actually," "State of Play") and Kelly Macdonald - seen in the photo above ("Finding Neverland," "Gosford Park"), as well as Ken Stott ("King Arthur," "Sleep When I'm Dead"), Anton Lesser ("Imagining Argentina," "Charlotte Gray") and Corin Redgrave ("Four Weddings and a Funeral," "In the Name of the Father"). The film followes the story of hard-working, shy civil servant Lawrence (Bill Nighy) and his life-changing relationship with the mysterious girl (Kelly Macdonald) he meets in a café opposite Downing Street. The film will be shown on HBO this summer, and on BBC ONE as part of the BBC's programs dedicated to celebrating Africa. This coincides with the U.K.'s Presidency of the G8 in 2005 and the real G8 Summit being held At Gleneagles, Scotland, in July. It is hoped that The Girl In The Café will be released worldwide on the same date. For information on Make Poverty History, see www.makepovertyhistory.org.
