“Major Hollywood players [were] asking if we had any TV material,” says Scriptapalooza! Founder Mark Andrushko. Scriptapalooza! is a highly respected and recognized screenwriting competition. “In 1999, I established the Scriptapalooza! Television Writing Competition, a smaller version of the screenwriting competition, in order to open doors for aspiring television writers.”

With the support of more than 30 top production companies, agents, managers and literary representatives including Comedy Central, Disney, Paramount, MTV, Nine Yards Entertainment, Klasky Csupo, The Gersh Agency, Big Light Productions and more, winners of the Scriptapalooza TV Competition have gone on to receive Daytime Emmys along with being offered staff writing positions with major television shows including Comedy Central.

Barbara Schwartz received a Daytime Emmy for her writing of a "Rugrats" episode and Scott Gray later followed suit by winning a Daytime Emmy for his writing of a "Rugrats" episode. After placing first in the Scriptapalooza TV competition, Aaron Blitzstein was offered a staff writing position with Comedy Central, writing for "Crank Yankers" which launched Blitzstein into MTV, writing for "The Andy Milonakis Show", followed by VH1's "Best Week Ever." Today, Blitzstein works for CBS as a staff writer for "The Late Show" with David Letterman.

Tired of hearing that "there are no good scripts," Mark Andrushko, a former producer-turned-screenwriting guru, co-founded Scriptapalooza!.

Along with offering a $10,000 Grand Prize, Scriptapalooza! has the support of the Writers Guild of America West and over 60 top production companies, managers, agents and literary representatives are involved with the competition, requesting the work of its writers. On August 15, 2006, Scriptapalooza! announced the Grand Prize Winner and the Twelve Finalists. “Story-tellers come from all over the world and from all walks of life. Our mission is to take these writers and their scripts to the next level, to provide access to the studios, production companies and agencies that control the film industry get their work read and produced,” says Andrushko. "We also continue to promote the top 13 winners and their scripts, long after the winners have been announced.”
