Irwin Memorial
Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin's memorial will be held on 20 September 2006 at 9 a.m. at the Australia Zoo. There are several areas throughout the local area which will feature live broadcasts.
At presstime, both Irwin's daughter Bindi and his wife, Teri, may speak, although Irwin's friend and producer, John Stainton (who was with Irwin when he died) says that the pressure/emotion may be too great and they may opt not to. It remains to be seen, as it will wholly be up to them on how they're feeling.
Bindi has already begun her no-doubt lifelong love and association with animals and has been, since she was a baby, a part of Steve's shows. When Irwin died, he was filming a pilot (\ on a barrier reef with sting rays), that was to be focused on he and Bindi, 8. In the photo left, is his son Bob, 2. Bob was the subject of controversy in 2004 when Irwin held his weeks old son and fed one of his trademark giant crocodiles. Irwin's website is amazing and has a tremendous amount of information. The zoo itself is huge (and it's where the Irwin family lives). Check it out -- there are some great photos in the Good Old Days section, although the really young photos are not of Irwin, but of his surrogate brother, Wes, who often appeared on his shows. www.crocodilehunter.com
