The Dirt on Denim: Andrea Answers All Jean Jumbles
Zipped Up
The denim and music connection
by Andrea Goodwin, BeansTalk Associate Editor (agoodwin@beanstalkbiz.com)
Themes in modern music and denim design, such as authenticity and sex appeal, have always crossed over and made the two natural partners. So close is the relationship, that the complementary nature of music and denim often make them symbols of the current era. Remember the famous cover photo of Bruce Springsteen’s Levi’s-clad bottom for his Born in the USA album, or better yet, the cover to the Rolling Stones’ Sticky Fingers (yup, that's it, above).
What could be more American, or better evoke memories of that time in your life? Music can fit the sensibilities of the wearer the way a pair of jeans fits and hugs the hips. With this thought in mind, BeansTalk sets out to profile some of our favorite denim brands, and give our readers an idea of the music you may want to program your iPod with if you wear them.
