Good Eats

Good Eats: People may love their Rachel Ray and their Paula Dean, but BeansTalk has Alton Brown of Good Eats. This is the best show on food. Brown combines science and fun and always, always imparts some bit of knowledge we didn't know before. He devotes a series to one thing, sometimes it's yellow cake, another time it's beets. There was a two-part show on frying chicken. We met a professor in food technology (but he was also some kind of anthropologist or something) from a local university (we both appeared on a tribute show to Steve Irwin, but that is another story) who said that the school just ordered the Good Eats library. It is, in no way, your ordinary cooking show: the Chairman of the Board is crazy about it (we love that he's learning about something we consume daily) and so are we. Food Network
