Worst Week Continues

Seven Days Are Never Simple In BBC America’s Comedy Farce,
The Worst Week Of My Life

One of the UK’s most acclaimed comedies returns for seven more disastrous days in the desperately unlucky lives of newly weds Howard (Ben Miller, The Prince and Me, Johnny English) and Mel (Sarah Alexander, Coupling, Smack The Pony). The Worst Week of My Life premieres Friday, December 1 9:40 p.m. ET/10:40 p.m. PT.

Season one witnessed the high farce and black humor of the week leading up to Howard and Mel’s wedding in which the groom managed to lose the wedding ring (a priceless family heirloom), knock out the best man, accidentally grope his future mother in law, hospitalize his fiancée’s granny, throw the in-laws’ beloved dog Binky into a cement mixer and was accused of impregnating a psychotic stalker from the office.

Now, having finally made it down the aisle after the worst week of his life, it seems everything is finally going well for hapless Howard. He and Mel are about to move into a new home together, and are expecting their first child; two life-altering events, and for once everything is perfect.

Things may look like they’re going well but seven days in the life of Howard Steel are never simple…

Each episode of the seven-part series features the events of a single day – and there’s a catalog of mishaps including an unfortunate incident at Mel’s grandmother’s funeral, a disaster at their new home and a misunderstanding that leads to a night in a police cell for Howard. As the days count down to Mel having a baby, will what has been the worst week of their lives turn into the best one yet for Howard and Mel?

Ben Miller comments: “Howard is a good man, who loves his wife and desperately wants to be accepted by her family, but is dogged by bad luck. If it wasn't so funny to see a man so ruthlessly pummelled by fate it wouldn't be a comedy at all, it would be a tragedy.” Sarah Alexander says: “Mel is pregnant, homeless, and still married to Howard, God help her. She’s the definition of long-suffering, and she hasn’t even been with him that long! I love Mel; I admire her loyalty, her ability to bail Howard out and her unquestioning love for him.”

The Worst Week of My Life also stars Alison Steadman (Fat Friends, Adrian Mole), Geoffrey Whitehead, Janine Duvitski and Ronald Pickup. It is written, produced and directed by Mark Bussell and Justin Sbresni (The Robinsons). www.bbcamerica.com
