Burton Bids Adieu
to "Silent Witness"

Amanda Burton stars in her final Silent Witness and a new apprentice pathologist joins the forensics team.

The dead tell tales as television's top team of forensic investigators examine mysterious and suspicious deaths to unravel clues and track down killers in an all-new season of this acclaimed investigative mystery series. Silent Witness premieres Thursdays from December 1, 2005 at 9 p.m. ET\10 p.m. PT.

After eight years of identifying victims and uncovering the culprits behind a variety of gruesome deaths, the uncompromising and passionate Professor Sam Ryan (Amanda Burton) bids farewell to the world of forensics after she is reunited with the son she gave up for adoption. After discovering he has been convicted of theft, she returns to Northern Ireland to be near him, leaving vacant the post of Professor of Forensic Psychology.

Her dynamic co-workers, Dr. Leo Dalton (William Gaminara) and Dr. Harry Cunningham (Tom Ward), are obvious successors - but who will be chosen? And how will it affect their friendship? It's now up to them to preserve Ryan's ethos that every corpse deserves to have its story told.

Joining them in London University's Pathology Lab is attractive and driven new apprentice Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox), a bright young archaeo-pathologist who is a far cry from the stereotypical academic. Despite Nikki's lack of experience working in a mortuary, her serious and focused attitude towards work, unquenchable curiosity, and passionate desire to find the truth makes her a perfect addition to the team.
