Carlin Back on HBO

Direct from the stage of the Beacon Theater in New York City, George Carlin returns for his unprecedented 13th stand-up comedy special on HBO when George Carlin: Life Is Worth Losing debuts Saturday, November 5, 2005 from 10 to 11:15 p.m. on HBO, live ET, tape delayed PT.

Other HBO playdates: Nov. 8 (2:10 a.m.), 10 (9:00 p.m.), 14 (4:40 a.m.), 18 (11:30 p.m.), 22 (10:35 p.m.), 25 (2:10 a.m.) and 28 (12:30 a.m.).

HBO2 playdates: Nov. 6 (11:30 p.m.) and 15 (2:35 a.m.).

Uncensored and uninhibited, this all-new 75-minute special - his fifth live performance on HBO - will feature Carlin's dead-on funny observations on such subjects as extreme human behavior; the feasibility of an all-suicide cable channel; and obscure American words and phrases.

From his famous "seven words you can't say on TV" in the '70s to his assault on pretentious buzzwords of the '90s, George Carlin's razor-sharp wit and acute insights have made him one of the most influential forces in comedy for more than three decades. The New York native made his first TV appearance in 1965, going on to perform stand-up on programs such as "The Hollywood Palace." Chafing against the restrictions of commercial TV, Carlin began concentrating on more personal and political material in the early '70s, emerging as a leading counterculture comic.

Carlin has starred in more HBO specials then any other comic, starting with his first special in 1977; his last HBO special was 2001's "Complaints and Grievances." He also appeared on two "Comic Relief(tm)" benefits and hosted the 1995 special "20 Years of Comedy on HBO." Carlin received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the American Comedy Awards in 2001, and was ranked second on Comedy Central's list of the "100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time."

He also received two Grammy Awards for his comedy albums, while his books "Brain Droppings" (1997), "Napalm and Silly Putty" (2001) and "When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops?" (2004) were New York Times best-sellers. Carlin's feature-film credits include "The Aristocrats" "Jersey Girl" and "Dogma."

The executive producers of George Carlin: Life Is Worth Losing are George Carlin and Jerry Hamza; produced by Kimber Rickabaugh; directed by Rocco Urbisci; written by George Carlin.
