Bonnie Raitt, 2004, Norwegian Wood, Oslo

Raitt’s Tour

When nine-time Grammy winner Bonnie Raitt kicked off her Souls Alike tour in early October, she promised it would be a yearlong tour. But after a few weeks on the road, fans will be happy to hear she's already talking about taking it into the spring of 2007.

"Come back soon, Bonnie. OK?" said the Ann Arbor News in a review of her sold-out show at the Michigan Theater while Billboard called the night "a testament to her enduring creative vitality."

"Raitt's voice was rich and true as she and her wonderful band traversed a musical soundscape that spanned eras and styles," said the Syracuse Post-Standard. "The night started with 'Unnecessarily Mercenary,' written by Raitt's longtime keyboardist, Jon Cleary, as a rolling tribute to his hometown, New Orleans. Through the set, Raitt revisited her latest album, 'Souls Alike,' with thrilling results. 'God Was in the Water' and 'I Will Not Be Broken' showed that Raitt is still making music with plenty to say...The rest of the band, George Marinelli on guitar, James 'Hutch' Hutchinson on bass and Ricky Fataar on drums, contributed mightily to the new material and the handful of favorites Raitt used to roll back the clock."

"I Will Not Be Broken," the first single from Souls Alike, which debuted at #19 on the Billboard 200 in September, is currently in the Top 5 at the AAA radio format.

Those who haven't yet caught the current tour will have numerous opportunities to see Raitt perform on television in the months ahead. On November 18th, VH1 Classic will premiere a "Decades Rock Live" episode featuring Bonnie and her special guests Norah Jones, Ben Harper, Keb' Mo' and Alison Krauss. "CBS Sunday Morning" will air a segment on Raitt on November 20th featuring footage shot at her recent Boston, MA and Portland, ME shows. On November 27th, A&E's "Breakfast with the Arts" will conclude its two-part segment with Raitt and on November 29th she'll perform on "The Late Show With David Letterman." In addition, DIRECTV will broadcast an hour-long Bonnie Raitt concert special every day in December.

Raitt will be interviewed on NPR's "All Things Considered" this Friday, October 28, 2005 and next Friday, November 4, 2005 her performance on "The World Café with David Dye" will air. And on November 22, 2005 iTunes will release a seven-song digital "iTunes Originals" EP by Raitt featuring live in-studio recordings, an insightful interview, and much more.
