Jack and Meg White of The White Stripes, in concert.

White Stripes on Daily Show

The White Stripes will do a rare musical performance on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on December 1, 2005.

Jack and Meg White just completed a 40-date US tour in support of their new album Get Behind Me Satan, which wrapped-up Sunday with three sold-out hometown shows at Detroit’s Masonic Temple Theatre. This will be the first time a band has ever performed on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Get Behind Me Satan, The White Stripes’ fifth album, was released in May of 2005, entering the Billboard Charts at No. 3, the band’s highest chart position to date. Their current single “My Doorbell” has been on the radio around the world for several weeks. The “My Doorbell” video can be seen at www.whitestripes.com.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart has won seven Emmys and two Peabody Awards.

"We've never had a musical performance on the show before - not because we haven't wanted one - but because we were holding out for a reunited Spandau Ballet. This will have to suffice," said Stewart.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart airs on Comedy Central Monday - Thursday at 11 p.m. ET/PT. The White Stripes performance will tape and air on Thursday, December 1, 2005. Posted by Picasa
