John Walsh of America's Most Wanted

America's Most Wanted Closes In

After America’s Most Wanted aired an in-depth story about the murdered pizza delivery man in Erie, PA, who had a bomb strapped to his neck and then robbed a bank, new information was brought forth – only to America’s Most Wanted. Now America’s Most Wanted reveals this exclusive new information, which could help authorities solve the case and unmask the mastermind of a horrendous crime.

On Aug. 28, 2003, Brian Wells, a 46-year-old pizza deliveryman, perished as a bomb that was strapped around his neck exploded. Authorities have been puzzled by the bizarre details of that day’s events, unsure if Wells was involved in the bank robbery or a pawn in someone else’s game. The FBI says that soon after he walked out of the pizza shop on an apparent delivery, he robbed a bank with a bomb strapped around his neck. When cops caught up with him, he said he had been abducted and forced to play a sadistic game – a scavenger hunt for his life. He also begged them to free him from the bomb. But before that could happen, the bomb went off, killing him. Tune in for exclusive new information that could solve this case on America’s Most Wanted Saturday, November 5, 2005 (9 p.m. ET/PT) on Fox.

America’s Most Wanted: America Fights Back, in its 19th season, airs Saturdays (9 p.m. ET/PT) on Fox. America’s Most Wanted: America Fights Back is produced by STF Productions, Inc. Lance Heflin is executive producer. Posted by Picasa

Sometime in New York City

More John Lennon

Following the release of the Working Class Hero – the Definitive Lennon retrospective two CD earlier this month, Capitol Records will reissue two John Lennon catalogue solo albums on November 22, 2005. Sometime in New York City and Walls and Bridges are the latest releases in a campaign of reissues featuring remixed and/or remastered tracks and
bonus cuts. Sometime in New York City now appears as a single CD, condensed from the original double.

Sometime in New York City was originally released in 1972. Tackling a range of issues including feminism, black activism and unrest in Northern Ireland, the album reflected the fact that Lennon and Yoko Ono had settled in New York and were part of a radical, highly politicized arts scene centered around their Greenwich Village apartment. It also reflected John's newfound love for New York, a city he fondly called "a big Liverpool."

Sometime in New York City was recorded with the group Elephant's Memory, featured several Yoko compositions, and originally featured a bonus disc, "Live Jam," culled from two sources. The first was a December 1969 gig by the Plastic Ono Band at London's Lyceum. Billed as a "peace for Christmas" event, the night saw John and Yoko joined onstage by guests including George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Keith Moon.

The remaining tracks on the original double album were taken from a surprise appearance at Frank Zappa's Fillmore East show in June 1971. It's these tracks that Yoko Ono has decided to edit, making the new version of the album a concise single CD.

Says Ono, "When John started singing 'Baby Please Don't Go' at the Fillmore East show it was his cry from the heart to the two heavily avant-garde artists - Frank Zappa and myself - with whom he was sharing a stage. John started to sing a rock n' roll song with simple chords from his childhood, to which not much could be added musically by Zappa's great band. I did my vocalization to add a little twist, while Frank jammed on his guitar - but the main emotion of the piece was pure Liverpool. John sang beautifully. I decided that the Fillmore performance should end here after this track, without going into the long avant-garde improvisation that followed, led by Frank and I. I wanted John to have the last voice on the album, spreading his childhood over us. If you miss the 'freak out' part...just put a microphone to the many battlefields in the world. You will hear everything - children crying, guys shouting, and the occasional silence created by the dead."

For this new single CD, "Listen, The Snow is Falling" and "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" have been added. "Happy Xmas" did not feature on the original album, although it preceded its release when it was released as a single, backed with "Listen, The Snow is Falling" in the U.S. in 1971 and in the U.K. a year later. "Happy Xmas" has gone on to become one of the most popular Christmas songs of all time and was the fulcrum around which John and Yoko built their highly visible billboard peace campaigns, which would dominate the most populated areas of major cities with the slogan "War is over! If you want it. Happy Christmas from John and Yoko." Ono continues this idea to this day, often using billboards and newspaper ads to spread the peace message.

Happy Xmas (War Is Over)

All tracks have been remixed except "John Sinclair" and "Attica State," which have been remastered.

Walls and Bridges was first released in 1974 and features contributions from Elton John, Klaus Voormann, Jesse Ed Davis, Jim Keltner and Nicky Hopkins. It gave Lenon his first solo No. 1 hit single with "Whatever Gets You Thru The Night" and, perhaps because of the turmoil he was going through at the time, proved to be a great album overall. This new edition features three bonus tracks including a live version of "Whatever Gets You Through The Night" recorded live at Madison Square Garden on November 28, 1974.

This was the legendary show where Lennon made a surprise appearance with Elton John, having lost a bet that the song would top the chart. Elton John challenged that Lennon should repay the favor by appearing onstage with him in a show that would go on to attain legendary status for two reasons - it led to the reconciliation of John and Yoko after John's 'lost weekend', and it would turn out to be the last time John ever appeared on a public stage.

Two further bonus tracks are "Nobody Loves You (When You're Down and Out)," a previously unreleased acoustic outtake, and an interview recorded in L.A. from the b-side of a special pressing of 'Whatever Gets You Thru The Night.’

Bonnie Raitt, 2004, Norwegian Wood, Oslo

Raitt’s Tour

When nine-time Grammy winner Bonnie Raitt kicked off her Souls Alike tour in early October, she promised it would be a yearlong tour. But after a few weeks on the road, fans will be happy to hear she's already talking about taking it into the spring of 2007.

"Come back soon, Bonnie. OK?" said the Ann Arbor News in a review of her sold-out show at the Michigan Theater while Billboard called the night "a testament to her enduring creative vitality."

"Raitt's voice was rich and true as she and her wonderful band traversed a musical soundscape that spanned eras and styles," said the Syracuse Post-Standard. "The night started with 'Unnecessarily Mercenary,' written by Raitt's longtime keyboardist, Jon Cleary, as a rolling tribute to his hometown, New Orleans. Through the set, Raitt revisited her latest album, 'Souls Alike,' with thrilling results. 'God Was in the Water' and 'I Will Not Be Broken' showed that Raitt is still making music with plenty to say...The rest of the band, George Marinelli on guitar, James 'Hutch' Hutchinson on bass and Ricky Fataar on drums, contributed mightily to the new material and the handful of favorites Raitt used to roll back the clock."

"I Will Not Be Broken," the first single from Souls Alike, which debuted at #19 on the Billboard 200 in September, is currently in the Top 5 at the AAA radio format.

Those who haven't yet caught the current tour will have numerous opportunities to see Raitt perform on television in the months ahead. On November 18th, VH1 Classic will premiere a "Decades Rock Live" episode featuring Bonnie and her special guests Norah Jones, Ben Harper, Keb' Mo' and Alison Krauss. "CBS Sunday Morning" will air a segment on Raitt on November 20th featuring footage shot at her recent Boston, MA and Portland, ME shows. On November 27th, A&E's "Breakfast with the Arts" will conclude its two-part segment with Raitt and on November 29th she'll perform on "The Late Show With David Letterman." In addition, DIRECTV will broadcast an hour-long Bonnie Raitt concert special every day in December.

Raitt will be interviewed on NPR's "All Things Considered" this Friday, October 28, 2005 and next Friday, November 4, 2005 her performance on "The World Café with David Dye" will air. And on November 22, 2005 iTunes will release a seven-song digital "iTunes Originals" EP by Raitt featuring live in-studio recordings, an insightful interview, and much more.

Newly announced dates for 2006 are listed below, as well a recap of Raitt's remaining 2005 tour dates. Musictoday will run ticketing pre-sales for most of the North American dates, and premium seats and meet-and-greet passes will continue to be auctioned off for charity by Charityfolks.com. Nicollette Sheridan and Scott Sedita

Industry Honors Acting Coach

More than 100 industry executives and celebrities gathered at the Museum of Radio and Television to celebrate the launch of a ground-breaking new book entitled "The Eight Characters of Comedy" on Tuesday, October 25, 2005. Scott Sedita, Hollywood acting coach and Sitcom Guru (he helped launched the careers of actors including Josh Duhamel, Jennifer Finnigan, Brandon Routh, etc.) treated guests to gourmet hors d’oevres and a selection of premiere wines.

"What I love most about Scott's book is the fact that these eight can be found in any life situation - the office, your family - even the White House!," said Emmy award-winning TV director Mary Lou Belli.

Sedita's breakdown of the eight characters are: the neurotic, the bitch/bastard, the womanizer/manizer, the loveable loser, the logical smart one, the materialstic one, the dumb one and the one who lives in his own universe.

"Well, according to Scott, I guess my character's the Bitch!" said Kate Linder ('Esther Valentine' on 'Young & the Restless"). More than 98 books were purchased. Sedita will soon embark upon a national radio campaign. www.SitcomActing.com Posted by Picasa

Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz in College

mtvU, MTV’s 24-hour college network, continued its surprise “Stand In” event series today by hosting actress Cameron Diaz at Stanford University. With mtvU cameras following, Diaz and world-renowned architect and designer William McDonough surprised Stanford’s “Maintaining Sustainable Building Projects” class where she greeted the fifty unsuspecting students in the Civil and Environmental Engineering program as their “Stand In” professor. In addition to discussing the sustainable development movement and civil engineering techniques being used to help protect the environment, Diaz also told students of her own experiences traveling to some of the most ecologically unique locales in her MTV series “Trippin.” mtvU’s “Stand In” with Cameron Diaz and William McDonough will be available on-demand on mtvU’s broadband network “mtvU Ăśber” (www.mtvu.com) beginning Tuesday, November 1 and air on mtvU at 12:00PM ET/9:00AM (PT) on Wednesday, November 2.

“Cameron Diaz has used her passion for the environment to focus global attention on this issue,” said Stephen Friedman, GM, mtvU. “It’s an honor to bring her and William McDonough – arguably one of today’s most respected sustainable development experts – to share their thoughts and ideas with college students.”

“If telling my stories can somehow highlight sustainable design and environmental protection issues in the minds of the people who will be planning and building our cities, then I hope that they can somehow redefine the way engineering impacts our environment,” said Cameron Diaz. “Giving these students this surprise was not only fun, but hopefully Mr. McDonough and I gave them some food for thought as they progress through their education and move into their chosen career path.”

Diaz is an international superstar with more than twenty-five feature films to her credit including the current hit “In Her Shoes” with Toni Collette and Shirley MacLain, “There’s Something About Mary,” “Charlie’s Angels” and “Shrek.” This spring, Diaz traveled the globe’s most exotic, and sometimes ecologically threatened, wonders to seek and discover ways to preserve them in MTV’s adventure reality series “Trippin.’

Cameron Diaz is also involved with mtvU's ongoing CURB GLOBAL WARMING campaign, organizing college students to join a virtual march on Washington. Students who register for the campaign online at www.mtvU.com are eligible to win Larry David's hybrid car.

William McDonough is a world-renowned architect and designer and winner of three U.S. presidential awards: the Presidential Award for sustainable Development (1996), the National Design Award (2004), and the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award (2003). Time magazine recognized him as a “Hero for the Planet” in 1999, stating, “His utopianism is grounded in a unified philosophy that – in demonstrable and practical ways – is changing the design of the world.” Mr. McDonough is the founder and principal of two design firms, McDonough + Partners and McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry. This story of unrequited love, set in the grimy streets and bars of 1930s London, captures a moment shared by three twenty-somethings who pour out their stories of passion, ambition, and disappointment. Each part of the trilogy focuses on a different character, Bob the barman (Bryan Dick, Viva Blackpool) who is working on a novel, Jenny the prostitute (Zoe Tapper, A Midsummer Night’s Dream) who is contemplating real love, and barmaid Ella (Sally Hawkins, Tipping the Velvet) who weighs her working-class options. Beautifully shot, this bittersweet trilogy is based on the autobiographical work of novelist and playwright Patrick Hamilton (Hangover Square, Gaslight).

Before the end of the trip the students, staff, and Mr. Harvey himself will experience an epiphany.
