BeansTalk Recommends....

One of our favorite shows

In 2004, Lifetime turned a popular British reality series into a U.S. one: How Clean is Your House. We only saw one – particularly disgusting – episode, but we were completely hooked. We were very excited when BBC America began airing the original UK series, which is currently in its fifth season in Britain.

It’s on three times a day, at noon, 12:30 p.m. and at 4:30 p.m. and we make sure we DVR two episodes daily. The rest of BeansTalk kind of enjoys the show, finding it difficult to watch. The CFO’s main complaint is that people who are as filthy as those depicted have serious issues. We were happy to find out that the current U.K. season takes extra time to examine just that. In particular, we often worried that people whose bathrooms were so covered in grime, they were obviously unused. Ew. Apparently, our beloved hosts, Kim Woodburn and Scot Aggie MacKenzie did a series called “To Posh to Wash” in which they examined personal hygiene. Believe us, there were many on HCIYH that could’ve really benefited from this.

One thing we particularly love about the show are the little tips that hosts Kim Woodburn and Aggie McKenzie impart on their slovenly guests. They love the “cheap and cheerful” and “natural” (lots of lemon juice, vinegar, salt, baking soda, and even cola – although I’m not certain that qualifies as natural).
