Diamond Trends at the Emmys
Major trends on this year’s red carpet included a range of diamond earrings (from the simple diamond drop to the linear style), Diamond Right Hand Rings, and incredible Diamond necklaces. Even leading men such as Hugh Laurie, Eric McCormack, and Randy Jackson came out in sophisticated diamond accessories such as diamond cuff links and diamond encrusted watches.
Classic Elegant Diamond Necklaces proved to be sophisticated, not only on veteran actress Cynthia Nixon, but also on the young actress, Andrea Bowen. Cynthia’s two-strand Fred Leighton diamond necklace showcased cognac colored diamonds which complimented her personal style, while Andrea looked every bit the princess in a diamond choker by Harry Winston.
Diamond earrings, big and small, made a huge statement on the red carpet. Stars such as Glenn Close and Lauren Graham shined in simple diamond drop earrings, while Mischa Barton, Rachel Bilson and winner of Best Leading Actress in a Drama, Patricia Arquette, looked sophisticated and chic in the diamond linear style. Lastly, Evangeline Lilly and Felicity Huffman choose bold and intricately designed diamond statement earrings.
Known to bring good luck and inner confidence, the Diamond Right Hand Ring delivered another win this time for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, Felicity Huffman. Other nominees that wore diamond right hand rings included, Megan Mullaly and Patricia Heaton. However, the Largest Right Hand Ring of the night was worn by Mary Hart of Entertainment Tonight, 20 carats and valued at $1.2 million, perhaps because Entertainment Tonight/People are auctioning off three Diamond Right Hand Rings (from legendary designers Fred Leighton, Martin Katz and Neil Lane) on eBay during their post Emmy party to benefit the American Red Cross’ Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
